Re: Paper Mario Producer Says "It's A Necessity" To Change The Combat System In Every Entry

@Harmonie I agree that they should go back to the xp system, but the battle systems in the first 2 games sucked. It made it where you had to pay attention to supper boring battles that had no strategy whatsoever. If they were to make it similar to Mario rabbids where you have a few different characters with different abilities and you could have 3 characters in the battle at the same time and they all were equal with Mario then it would be good, but that old battle system was awful. It also had WAY too much random stuff involved in it.

@Tupin The slam mechanic in Luigi’s Mansion 3 is amazing. The only problem is it makes the game a bit too easy, but they didn’t do anything to fix it. If they gave all ghosts double health, damage and made hearts rarer it wouldn’t be a problem and even without that it isn’t a problem. Also Star fox zero is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. The controls are a bit odd, but it’s a really cool idea. I think that it was originally intended for the 3ds, but they put it on the Wii U instead. Everyone would have loved it if it was on the 3ds because the screens are right there. It was just a bit clunky with the game pad and tv screen, but still very good.

Re: Poll: No, Really, What Was Nintendo's Worst Year?

bobzbulder

This is a completely pointless article. We haven’t finished the year yet and everyone says that this year is awful. Nintendo is still going to announce some more games. The lack of news is them waiting till they are done with the games to announce so that they can guarantee a release date. If they were to have announced games like normal and most of them got delayed fans would be even more mad so it’s better for them to wait. I personally like the Twitter drops better because we have less time between announcement and release which means less waiting. You can’t want something if you don’t really know what it is.

Re: Poll: No, Really, What Was Nintendo's Worst Year?

@nessisonett Yes because animal crossing is a port and so is clubhouse games. Oh don’t forget Paper Mario which is just a port of color splash. Nintendo has only released 2 major games in the first half of 2020. What are we going to do. They can’t do another mini direct or a Twitter drop again. That would mean that they’re actually doing something which we all know that they aren’t doing anything.

Re: Feature: The Complete History Of Paper Mario

bobzbulder

The only Paper Mario game that I’ve played is Super Paper Mario and it was awful. The 2D to 3D mechanic was just a stupid gimmick which got annoying. The levels were boring and I found the story uninteresting. I didn’t beat the game, so I can’t really say much about the story, but what I played wasn’t too good. The gameplay was also so boring that even if it had the best story ever I wouldn’t have tried to beat it. Ttyd looks good, but the battle system doesn’t look very strategic. It’s just attacking back and forth with no real strategy. The worlds and characters look amazing, but the battle system looks just ok. If they were to make a game where you have more than 2 attacks and the partners are equal to Mario in power with up to 3 partners in a battle with the amazing worlds of ttyd then it would be perfect. Also get rid of the random stuff falling on you.

@Crockin I don’t want it to be a 1:1 remake. It honestly doesn’t matter to me since I haven’t played the game, but I think it would be better to keep the original jump height since changing that could potentially ruin some levels. They definitely need to tighten up the controls and whatnot, but I think it’s more likely that they keep the jump physics the same to make it easier to make, but I could be wrong, they might just use the odyssey physics (if this comment comes off as defensive sorry, I’m not trying to make it sound that way).

@Slowdive With all of these rumors of things that where “supposed to happen 2020 would have been way too packed. Nintendo never puts this many games in one year. I doubt that a pikmin event is happening anytime soon. At the earliest we will get one at the end of this year or early 2021. There have been way too many rumors about what was going to happen this year. Why would Nintendo release a pikmin game on the 35th. Mario anniversary. It just doesn’t make any sense.

Re: Fans Have Discovered A Private Mario 35th Anniversary Twitter Account

@Slowdive Yeah, retro probably was working on the trilogy and finished with it around when development of prime 4 got restarted. They did a good job on prime trilogy and got to do prime 4. I imagine that the plan was to give a trailer for prime 4 and a 2020 release window and say that prime trilogy was coming sometime in 2019, but since development was scrapped they just have a game completely done and waiting to be released. It’s either that or they are currently making the game. I hope that retro did remaster the trilogy because that would give them a good idea of what they should do with prime 4. Idk about pikmin 3. If they had it ready they would be releasing it. Right now is a great time to release the game because everyone is bored and it could introduce a lot of people to the series (I mention pikmin 3 because the trilogy and it usually end up in the same leak and it somewhat invalidates the prime trilogy leak).

Re: Review: Paper Mario: The Origami King - A Puzzling Battle System Can't Kill This Funny Adventure

bobzbulder

@theJGG Think about it this way. The lack of exp kinda sucks, but if their was exp you probably won’t be anymore likely to want to battle (maybe slightly, but not much). Battles have always been a weak point of RPGs. I watched some gameplay of the thousand year door and even in that game they were avoiding battles. The puzzle system also doesn’t look like it takes too long with how fast enemies die if you line them up right. It also looks like that’s the best way to get confetti is from battles because everything else gives you very little. The battles fill up the bag.

Re: Fans Have Discovered A Private Mario 35th Anniversary Twitter Account

@sixrings Idk why everyone is so impatient. We got a Nintendo direct mini earlier this year which was long enough to be called a Nintendo direct and people are still acting like we haven’t got any news. After paper Mario releases we’ll probably get another mini direct outlining the next 2-3 months then we will get a Twitter drop for their next big game. Everyone Is acting like we will never get any news, but I honestly prefer to wait for news than to wait for a game that really excites me because then it makes the wait feel longer. I’ve been waiting for LEGO Star Wars the Skywalker Saga for over a year now and we still only know what we got from E3 so everyone can cool their butts off and wait.

Re: Feature: Burnout Paradise Remastered Dev On Optimisation, Resisting Temptation And Nailing 60 FPS On Switch

bobzbulder

@MrGreen315 Yeah the digital games should be cheaper, but the game did just come out on switch about a month ago and it sounds like it was way harder to make than the other versions. In 2 years you will be able to get it for around 5$. The reason digital games aren’t cheaper is because Nintendo won’t let devs sell their games cheaper digitally. I’m also sure that they wouldn’t if they had the option since they want to make more money.
