Re: Talking Point: Could Ganondorf Ever Be The Star Of A Zelda Game?

I'm thinking a hack and slash dungeon crawler would fit well, like Ys origin. Otherwise any kind of Brawler would work with minimal puzzling, like Bayonetta or God of War.

His mission would be to gather power, and beat an even more demonic evil in order to get it. It would be interesting for Ganon to interact with neutral demonic characters as well. I'm thinking like how Firebrand from the Gargoyles quest games interact with other demonic beings.

I would dislike a game where you fight good people, like the King, Zelda or Link, but a rival Sheikah warrior or competing Gerudo leader would be cool to fight.

@Owozifa Yes, sorry, novel game is what it's also called in Japan. I understand completely what you mean, and I agree with most of it, but the thing is that genres also get retroactively changed because the gaming landscape has changed. Doom for example was the original "Doom-like" then FPS, and now FPS has been so evolved that Doom is far from the norm, today we would call it a boomer shooter. What used to be the gold standard of visual novels in turn, has in itself turned into a sub genre of the visual novel brand.

When Phoenix Wright entered the market, there wasn't anything like it, so that's why we fit it under the adventure brand, it was closer to old school point and clickers.

I think the Steam definition of visual novel as a genre is more useful than the very narrow definition of visual novels of old. PW and Danganronpa are more interactive, but 90% of the experience is still just reading to understand the story.

@Owozifa the term visual novel or visual game wasn't really standardised before the English description was popularized through channels like steam, and more Japanese are using this new definition. It should be noted that Visual Novels evolved out of adventure game where less and less interactivity was implemented compared to English point n clickers.

Re: Poll: What's The Worst Legend Of Zelda Game?

I'm 32 years, owned a NES, played all the Zelda games and have actually finished Zelda II. It is that bad, and it's based on my opinion and not some kind of conspiratory anti-hype like the other comments are making it out to be.
