NIntendo things - checking out Cloud in SSB 3DS, Picross E6 and hoping to get Story of Seasons soon. Also Harvest Moon 64 and Bomberman Hero on N64, which I picked up for a cheap price recently.
Non Nintendo things - Ratchet & Clank: Nexus (PS3), Dragon Quest Heroes (PC), also replaying System Shock 1 and 2 (I love these two, that's why I'm so hyped about the remake and the third part).
Though I don't plan any ultra grand gaming feasts, as the engineer's job is never done, I also need to catch up with my own personal projects during the free time.
And I'm still sitting here, waiting for a cool Atlus discounts, like the North American ones... come on, Etrian Odyssey IV/Untold/Untold 2 is insanely expensive here, can we have at least a tiny price cut?
I actually liked this one back in the day. I guess some factors, like the fact that I'm a Kirby fan, and this was my second DS game I've ever owned, contributed to my opinion. But yeah, both me and my friend (who also bought a DS back then) really enjoyed this little spin-off, though it was a bit too short/easy for us. Oh, and the mini-games/bosses and the unlockable system! A solid 8/10 in my book.
@scamander Well, it is quite a challenge to get them here, but don't worry, we will always find one way or another.
Contacting the Germany nowadays could do the trick, as they started handling the Polish eShop payments lately. So I guess they might be much more helpful than the UK branch. Can't quite remember who handled Poland way back in 2013, when my old 3DS broke.
And speaking of Germany, I loved all of those cool Nintendo commercials they used to show on Super RTL/RTL II, which I used to watch as a kid. I always wondered why aren't they showing such nice stuff on Polish channels, especially during the GBC/GBA era, when we had an official distributor, and Nintendo was fairly popular here. :/
@scamander The polish Nintendo website is just a website created a Czech Republic company called Conquest Entertainment. which agreed to become an official polish distributor of SOME Nintendo merchandise in the early 2014 (yes, when the previous one dropped the support, we didn't have ANY Nintendo distributor for nearly three years!). And when you go to the nintendo-europe.com website can you see the Poland on the region select screen? No, there is no Poland, because Nintendo doesn't exist here, we can only buy their products by online-only retailers and small, local game shops. Belive me, huge and major electronic stores (Media Markt, Saturn etc.) don't carry ANY Nintendo hardware. Nothing, zero, null, nada, only Xbox and Playstation stuff. Can you see how dedicated and desperate we need to be, in order to get something? (and that's games and consoles only, Amiibo and other goodies are even worse).
And to make matters worse, back then, when I had this problem, Conquest Entertainment didn't operate in our country, and everyone in Poland, not just me, didn't have any other choice, but to contact either the UK or Germany branch. This is how bad things are around here, when it comes to Nintendo.
@Action51 Well, if you want a good example, then I am "that guy". See my comment #90. At least I didn't lose anything, and everything turned out ok in the end - but yes, even Nintendo admitted I could lose everything without the system transfer. And they wouldn't do a bleeping thing about it, as the game licences are tied to the hardware. At least they could just send me the official motherboard schematics and a "here, you need to fix this and that" description...
Something like that actually happened to my IRL friend some time ago. Yes, it was more of his fault (faulty system transfer), and he indeed lost everything, and we both tried to contact Nintendo about it, and they pretty much replied like "sorry, you have to buy the DD content again". If you heard some legit stories about Nintendo restoring the purchases, that's great news. But I guess they don't really care about customers from some small country (Poland), with no official Nintendo branch, so we wouldn't be that lucky.
@scamander Well, not really, let me tell you a story. The digitizer ribbon and connector broke in my old 3DS XL (either the touch screen didn't work at all, or the entire console turned off the second I pressed the power button, since it requires a working digitizer), and I was on a brink of losing EVERYTING I had on the machine, and Nintendo was helpful as ever (I actually sent a mail to Nintendo UK, since there's no "Nintendo Poland", or repair centers here. They pretty much sounded like "haha too bad you NEED to do a system transfer or else you will lose everything". Of course much more formal and such, but that was pretty much their reply in a nutshell).
So yeah, the account is SO unified, I had to open up the console, get to the lower part of the motherboard, set a very shabby connection between the digitizer ribbon and the connector and pray to God it will last for those two hours, until the system transfer to my new 3DS completes. It did. But the touch screen completely stopped working two days later.
So yeah, is that what a "unified account system" is nowadays? Boy, my PSD ID/Microsoft and Steam account will be surprised.
While I enjoyed Shuffle (at least 'till 100+ levels) and Rumble World (and I'm quite 'eh' about the badge thingy - not really my cup of tea, but I can clearly see some may enjoy such customization), I never ever spent even a penny for the microtransactions. One thing is that I don't really need it, but the bigger problem is the very weird money conversion rate to PLN. They are just way too expensive for what they offer...
...and it's not just microtransactions alone, even the prices in eShop are sometimes truly ridiculous. I actually haven't bought ANY major game from the eShop, as they are, in most cases, much MUCH more expensive than the normal cartridge releases.
When I saw the "HOME Themes Galore!" sentence in the header I was really hoping for the rest of the SEGA Home menu themes, mainly the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast ones. The reality was a bit disappointing.
@tudsworth And you're totally right my friend, I totally forgot it's (most likely) a SoC architecture thing. I doubt any engineer spent their sweet time handling all of the 32X/CD hardware calls, especially in a £40 thingy. And if it's the Firecore SoC you mentioned earlier, then I have some serious doubts about the compatibility.
Well, I still have my model 1 Mega Drive, and I'm happy with it and my 50Hz games.
Though I wonder if this is compatible with stuff like Master System converter unit (because I belive it lacks any expansion ports for the Sega Mega CD/32X connectivity).
I would REALLY love to play the new PMD (I recently picked up and re-played Explorers of Sky for the DS), though it's not available in Europe until the 19th of February. :/ Curse that region lock!
Oh, that's just great, yet another great Atlus discount in North America, while I'm just sitting here and waiting for a similiar thing in Europe. Especially when I actually like those kind of dungeon crawlers (I grew up with a DOS PC, and had a ton of stuff like this, Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, Anvil of Dawn... such dungeon crawlers really take me back), and Etrian Odyssey is very expensive and downright obscure in Poland.
@Kirk Yes, you are correct, Squaresoft quite abruptly left the Nintendo camp, however there's quite a story behind it. You see, back in the 90's the relationship between Squaresoft and Nintendo were, well, quite "complicated", you might say.
Nintendo back then was constantly meddling with the Square's development process, forcing them to rush things, taking over creative control (the case of Super Mario RPG) and downright refusing to let SS use a bigger ROM cartridges, forcing them to cut/scrap the game's content, in order to fit it on the smaller space. Oh the other hand Squaresoft was quite... vocal about Nintendo. Quoting one source "Nao Suzuki (the back-then CEO of Squaresoft) responded by publicly bashing the N64 and convincing Enix to join the PS camp along with them, which, looking back at it now, he realizes wasn't an incredibly smart move."
So, to be honest, I'm kinda glad they parted ways for a short while, sorted things out, and started co-operating again.

Hmm, I don't own a Wii U, but even I believe that's kinda disappointing. You'd think they surely wouldn't miss such opportunity, but oh well.
