Re: Former Sony Developer Feels The Wii U "Won't See Another Christmas"

WWammy

Was just thinking why is it Doom for Nintendo exactly ?
All that Sony and Microsoft have done so far is to release their new consoles.
There's nothing worth playing on them that you can't already play on older consoles with minute differences and top it off they are already have hardware faults.
I won't be spending my money with either Sony or Microsoft until hardware issues are resolved not after the red ring of death, which funnily enough happened after the warranty period expired .
I'm not impressed with the graphics I have a PC which has played all of last generations games at 1080p 60fps and these new consoles can't even do that.
Previously consoles were cutting edge even beating or matching top end PC's for graphics last generation but this generation they have gone the Wii route cutting back on Graphical muscle to offer more features but problem is that they still managed to mess it up despite having releasing unfinished products with day one patches.
I have to agree with some of the members here it's not about the games anymore its more about image.

Re: Soapbox: The Wii U Virtual Console Needs to Freshen Up

WWammy

Yeah I haven't been interested in the Wii-U virtual console to be honest with the exception of Earthbound everything else I have already on the Wii.
I like playing the games that I never originally had and Wii Virtual console was great for that especially the NEO-GEO and Turbographx games.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Explains Why The Legend of Zelda Isn't a Yearly Franchise

WWammy

I hate the way games are being released with minor updates to the point of almost being the same game, Fifa comes to mind now.
I think Zelda should keep its current release schedule it makes the games special but I hate the way they are being released near the end of the console cycle with a release of an older game to tide fans over. Skyward Sword is what they should have been working on with the Wii not Twilight Princess that was a Gamecube game ported over.
The previous Zelda games were special because they were released early on in the consoles life cycle and you could come back to them.
The early releases define the console it's not good to keep us waiting a whole console generation to play the game when previously it was one of the defining games of the console but these days people might not even get to play the game if it's released so late.

Re: Review: Street Fighter II' Turbo: Hyper Fighting (Wii U eShop / Super Nintendo)

WWammy

I enjoyed Turbo Edition a hell of a lot but that said I really enjoyed Super Street Fighter a lot too. Great conversions in my opinion people did moan about it not being the Super Turbo release however I had only played Super Street Fighter at that time and for me it was amazing to see the new characters and stages. I didn't experience Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo until many years later so I still managed to play this a hell of a lot both the Arcade and the SNES and Mega drive home conversions.

Personal favourite in the series has to be Street Fighter Alpha 2 which has yet to be re-released it's a damn shame
Not the SNES version though the 32bit consoles conversions of Alpha 2 spoiled me back then and I found it difficult to appreciate Alpha 2 as much as I would have if I hadn't played the almost Arcade perfect versions at home first

Re: Talking Point: Wii U and Third-Party Inconsistencies Pose Questions for Console Owners

WWammy

The Wii U is in a next generation console and released first my guess is that Nintendo will release the big guns at least in time with the new PS4 and Xbox one launches. There's also something about the used game policy that Nintendo doesn't have in any shape or form right now Sony has it and left it upto developers to implement and Xbox one has had to turn back on their used game policy.
I think when the PS4 and Xbox one come out things will start to really unfold and well and truly the Wii is not a part of this generation although it has similar power so devs are always saying not enough units sold in and their only real comparison is the current generation so far but comparing to consoles that have been around for so long is more than a little unfair IMO.

Re: IGN Editor: If Wii U Doesn't Pick Up, Nintendo Should Look To New Hardware

WWammy

Forget everything just bring the games please the Wii U is going to be remembered for the Nintendo games eventually.
If I recall 3DS was off to a very shaky start due to the very same thing happening with software but now it's doing extremely well even when up against the smart phones. The reason will simply be because you can get these experiences anywhere else.
I don't really what the big deal is the SNES only launched with 4 games available on day one =P

Re: 3DS UK Success in 2013 Offset by Abysmal Wii U Figures

WWammy

The Wii U is a fine console just Nintendo's release schedule where they should have been powering out the software they just trundling along and gamers have nothing to play.
I'm content to just play my Wii at the moment I would buy a Wii U and play the with the backwards compatibility but my problem is that it's slightly costly for a console that doesn't have a lot of games on it yet and not even the major Nintendo releases are on it yet.

Re: Review: Pilotwings (Wii U eShop / Super Nintendo)

WWammy

Pilotwings is one of the SNES's best games when I played it there was nothing else out there like it and I disagree with the reviewers comments about the music I absolutely loved it and felt it suited the game extremely well.
I guess newer games like Pilotwings 64 and Pilotwings 3DS have surpassed it by building on the concept of the flight sim I haven't played those yet.
But this was the first it's like saying Zelda one is rubbish because Zelda 3 is better.
6 out of 10 is an extremely harsh mark.
I personally still recommend this game at 8 out of 10 and a must play for anyone into the SNES.

Re: Ouya Heralds Emulation By Tweeting Image of Super Mario Bros.

WWammy

I disagree @ potentially destroy those that want to pirate they still can even now but one is most people aren't really that savvy to go out on the internet to find roms.
I used to see at the market people selling those R4 cards but they had to pay them extra to get new games because they simply didn't know.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Wishes Nintendo Had "Done More" With Zelda II

WWammy

I have to say I really loved Zelda 2 it was the first one in the series to have more than one village and possibly the only one.
The only true RPG in the series and it had advanced combat you had to use the shield to block enemy bullets and mele attacks. It was a difficult game but this kind of strategy to the combat hasn't been seen since

Re: PES 2014 Will Not Be Dispensed On Wii U

WWammy

The market is saturated and it seems developers are spread too thinly across multiple platforms having to make the hard choices like developing for one console and not another and generally fewer releases.

Re: Weirdness: A Wii U Gamer's Miiverse Journey Through Super Metroid

WWammy

They are fair questions the Original Super Nintendo title came with a players guide which while not giving 100% items at least saw you through to the end and allowed the player to experience what the game had to offer.
Those that can complete Super Metroid easily these days is probably due to memory from playing it years ago but everyone has to start somewhere.
The fact of digital copies these days is that they don't come with all the extras the old games used to like Final Fantasy 1 on the NES came with an "84 page Explorers Handbook" that was almost a players guide in itself and a Map to help players through.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Staff Favourites - Super NES

WWammy

I loved Super Metroid played it to death above nearly all the other Super Nintendo games but there is only one that beat it out and that's Street Fighter 2 Turbo which I still play to this day in one incarnation or other.
That game lol Street Fighter 2 turbo was so addicted to that game

Re: Feature: The GamePad - From Waggling Remotes To Dual Sticks and a Touchscreen

WWammy

This controller has been done many times before and promised with GBA and NDS connectivity to the Gamecube and Wii respectively however few games utilised that. GBA faired better in this respect had some titles at least that utilised the connectivity with the link cable the NDS I can't think of any that really used it and I was expecting to download demos from Wii to NDS but the selection was lack lustre. The Wii U is an evolution of that idea and personally I think it's a great concept I also like the traditional control scheme to be available and have no problem with the touch screen being point to point as opposed to multitouch although it would have been better...
The main point is the two screens now 3DS to Wii U games would make sense and contain the same functionality we have enjoyed on the NDS

Re: Talking Point: The Download or Disc Dilemma

WWammy

On digital downloads price is factor and also even if I wanted to I couldn't go fully digital I mean games usually are released quite some time after the retail release and you would have to wait on Xbox and PC services like steam are second fiddle to consoles. I like the idea of digital downloads the convenience and the fact that it saves a huge amount of space. But the fact is one at the moment it's not all that convenient and two it usually costs more for now digital distribution just isn't where it needs to be to warrant going fully digital.

Re: UK Price War Rages As Asda And Amazon Slice £50 Off Wii U Cost

WWammy

Hmm I don't think dropping the price would help for people that are not Nintendo fans. I mean personally I want one as a replacement for my current Wii I would transfer my virtual console games and play my Wii games upscaled 1080i or 720p whatever they support so price drop for me would be great.
However look at it from everyone else's perspective there are no great 1st party Nintendo games yet and the 3rd party games they have are available elsewhere cheaper on rival consoles that includes both the consoles and the games.
Games make a console and nothing in terms of Wii U specific games have grabbed my attention yet all I know is they are on the way so from my perspective there is no rush I already have loads of games to play on other consoles

Re: The Wii U Is Region Locked, Of Course

WWammy

There's also the fact of different law in the regions of which Nintendo could fall foul. I'm glad that the UK is one of the regions that Nintendo do actually trade in some regions don't get products until much later unless they import meaning inflated prices

Re: Street Fighter Alpha 2

WWammy

Street Fighter Alpha 2 my favourite in the series would like it if they could release on the Virtual Console Arcade =D

Re: The Definitive Guide To Wii U

WWammy

No mention of storage capacity which was a mega deal with the Wii, Still not hard drive support ? In the wii days loading a game from the sdcard meant every game had to be loaded into the 512mb memory first I hope at the very least they will run off the sd card for faster loading.

Re: Feature: 20 Years of Mario Kart

WWammy

Love the Snes version still its the gameplay requires more skill in comparison to the chance based gameplay on the more modern versions. There's also a lot of differences in the handling for each character the only other one that matches in my opinion would be th GBA version. The best 3d version to date was the Nintendo DS version. Haven't played Mario Kart 7 yet though

Re: Final Wii U Form to Be Shown At E3 2012

WWammy

What tosh @ coolvw what exactly have PS3 and Xbox360 done that is better ? Other than being graphical powerhouses if the Wii U is just an updated hardware cycle for Wii then that is still enough as PS3 and Xbox 360 are only updated versions of PS2 and Xbox with better graphics I don't know why different rules apply to Nintendo than the other two. As far as I'm concerned Nintendo is the only company even attempting something different the others just follow once it becomes a success

Re: Iwata Resists Calls for Smartphone Games

WWammy

@ Rococoman the buttons argument is not weak maybe for you but generally it's not weak for anyone that knows the difference between tactile feedback and none at all.

Why are people picking on Nintendo all of a sudden anyway why doesn't anyone call for Sony and Microsoft to put their games on IOS devices.

I don't care to play Mario on a smartphone for this I buy Nintendo devices.
You want IOS then buy an Iphone or Ipod touch you want to play Nintendo games you buy Nintendo devices.
You want to play Sony games you buy a Playstation why is this concept so hard for some people to accept =D

Re: Super Mario 3DS Has More Thrills, Less Exploration

WWammy

To be honest I can see a lot of people here not really into the new changes but I'll be honest after having played Mario Galaxy I was near enough done with the series as good a game as it was I always preferred Mario 64 and the 2d Marios.
In fact I wasn't even interested in this game until I heard that it has become the game that I thought Super Mario 64 was going to be.
I'm personally in support of Nintendo's latest move =D and now I have one more reason to own a 3DS the other being Zelda

Re: Sony President Thinks 3DS is Just an Updated DS

WWammy

@57 Sega didn't beat Nintendo that's why they don't even have a console anymore at best they competed at the same level as Sony does with Xbox.
Sales figures for Nintendo still beat out anything Sega had even with Sega's most successful console the Megadrive the Snes still beat it out sales wise.
But that aside I liked both consoles since both offered very near completely different gameplay experiences.

Re: Features: Re-Examining Zelda: Twilight Princess

WWammy

I enjoyed Twilight Princess for the most part but ever since the N64 days where every game turned into a collectathon coupled with the kinstone collecting in Zelda Minish cap this mechanic really annoys me and it's getting worse with each new iteration of the game.
All Zeldas upto Ocarina of time this was bearable since you had good rewards but with every new iteration of Zelda they take it to a new extreme. One such example is the the fact now you must collect 5 heart pieces instead of 4 to make one heart I don't really see the need for this.
I wonder if I'm the only one no one else seems to have mentioned it ?

Re: Talking Point: Can Nintendo's Next Console Top Wii's Success?

WWammy

@topnick12 In doubt the price will be too high the PS3 and Xbox are old hat now at around 5 years old technology prices have come way down .
Microsofts Arcade console is selling at £149.99 new which says a lot about pricing for Nintendos new console as I doubt even if it's more powerful than the PS3 would be that much more powerful and Nintendo would choose cost effective components rather than say a Bluray player and Cell processor which drove the cost of the PS3 up.
It would still leave quite a few years to compete with the current gen consoles and it seems Nintendo has carved out their own timescale for new console releases which aren't really inline with the others

Re: Talking Point: What You Want in a New Nintendo Home Console

WWammy

I want to support your comment @ davidrooster
but some problems such as storage will only be fixed with new hardware.
It would have been nice they did some incremental hardware upgrades to the Wii like they did with the DSI to allow for more storage and address other gripes such as hdmi / 720p output.
Also while still technically possible on the Wii it would have been nice to download a Wii channel to allow DVD and General Media playback.
Either way I'm in no rush for a Wii 2 in all honesty but while we just discussing what we would like in a Wii 2 I hope the major issues will be addressed and everyone knows what they are.

Re: Talking Point: What You Want in a New Nintendo Home Console

WWammy

The main things I want in Nintendo's next console is
1. for Nintendo to support 3rd parties more so they create games for the Nintendo platform.
This means giving hardware comparable to competitors so they can create the games they want to create and we don't have to miss out on those games or have to buy an additional console.
Which means less space and clutter created by games and peripherals and less investment into what is now usually at least 2 consoles.
Wii/PS3 or Wii/360
2. More storage I love Nintendos back catalog of VC games but with the space restrictions it makes it just awkward to have the ones u want to play and we missed out on some games that should have been on the Wii.
3.Less controller swapping and peripherals I understand motion controls being in their infancy but mannn it really started to get on my nerves that I had to keep changing the controller attachments depending on which game I wanted to play and sometimes even during a game (Wario Ware and Wii Sports / Wii Sports Resort)
I hope 3rd parties develop motion controls to the same high standards as Nintendo themselves have in their games
4. DLC would be nice I remember the whole thing about Metroid other M bug

Re: Review: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)

WWammy

I started Mario Galaxy back when it first came out but didn't have much time to play but I've just got back into it and man the game is absolutely amazing one of the if not THE best Wii games period and probably one of the all time greats. For me so far it has taken the already brilliant Mario 64 formula and amped it up to the max and I'm just thoroughly enjoying it

Re: Review: Final Fantasy III (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)

WWammy

@Bass I was kind of a Super Play Reader but I was pretty selective on which game I would read about based upon the graphics of the game then if at all would bother to read anything about the game at all.
I kinda of skipped pages with boring looking screen shots and lots of text =P.
Heck I couldn't have been more than around 10 years old at the time back in 1992

Re: Review: Final Fantasy III (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)

WWammy

@ jkgatling
Final Fantasy 7 is the was the first final fantasy I played and the only one I liked so far so yes for me Final fantasy 7 is the best one.
Final Final Fantasy 7 was the one that got me interested in Final Fantasy games the ones were released after 7 were okay but the older ones showed their age after playing 7 first I'm not sure but some people probably have the nostalgia factor so they compare every Final Fantasy to their favorite one as do I.
However really these games hardly have anything in common with each other except a few pieces of music and the title Final Fantasy.
I guess this game would have had a greater impact on me if Final Fantasy was released in the UK in the Snes's prime in fact none of the big names were here in the UK Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy not until 7 did I even hear of the game.

@brooks83

Sephiroth is one of best baddies ever that is all =D

Re: Mario Kart Without Items Isn't Mario Kart, That Includes the Blue Shell

WWammy

The DS version of Mario Kart was well balanced for the most part but the Wii version I played a few matches and while the core racing was fun but the item usage from the computers is out of control and it looks like it was intentional and in all honesty the game just annoyed me too much to carry on playing it single player.

Re: Black Tiger

WWammy

Nice I like the game wasn't released on the consoles back in the day as far as I know.
Good to see Capcom release these games on VC Arcade its the ideal place for them

Re: Nintendo Defends European Retailers' Pricing of the 3DS

WWammy

Personally I think that Nintendo is going to get a big wake up call.
They are riding on the fact that 3DS is the only console currently capable of doing 3D without glasses however it remains to be seen 1st of all if people actually care that much about 3D and 2 I doubt they will be the only ones for very long I mean Apple has hardware updates a lot more frequently and their games are generally much cheaper mostly just a couple of quid.
