Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Games Of 2020

@dres

I agree with this 100 percent. I am enjoying this more than BOTW. Better combat, story, puzzles (the vaults are impressively diverse), and traversal.

BOTW lacked on combat and story and Immortals does that nicely. I'm excited the first DLC coming out, I think, in January.

Too bad this game launched when it did, it is so enjoyable.

That is reading a quote and making what you want of it. Confirmation bias right at you.

The girl in question is 11. Getting her first console. She has no concept of prices and values. It is better economically for the mom to buy a PS4 with cheaper games and a subscription service.

Please read and think about comments before replying with absurdities. I said nothing about ports, price of ports, etc.

I have a Switch. My only console. So, yeah, where's the bias you mentioned? Not there.

A friend of mine wants to buy a console that hooks up to the TV, for her daughter. She asked me and I made the argument not to get the Switch.

The reason is because of the price of the games. On other consoles (PS4 in this case), the games are cheaper and they have subscription services.

Switch games are too expensive relative to other consoles and don't drop in price. Even holiday sales are weak.

I see the pricing not as family nor kid friendly.

Edit:
Just editing this in: Switch is my only console and I have the financial means to buy games at higher prices, but this is something parents should take into consideration. Example; Game Pass/ PS plus (??) vs no real equivalent on Switch. Better bang for your buck for a financially tight family.

Re: Nintendo Consoles Are Aimed At "Kids And Teens" Says Sega's Toshihiro Nagoshi

As someone in their 30s, I find the Switch to be the most adult friendly console. I can play it as I go to work, pick up and play when I have some free time, I can hit sleep mode and stop easily when I need to do something else.

Also, the prices for Switch games are not kid friendly. Full price games that are cheaper on other systems are not family friendly as families try to economize.

So yeah, the Switch is a system for the busy adult who wants to game but doesn't have the time to sit down in front of a tv (a TV which is probably shared by the family as well).

@The-Chosen-one

It's fine. I am not a graphics person so it doesn't bother me that it isn't pristine. I just love portable mode.

Game is charming and funny.

I havent played any new AC games so this game feels fresh to me, from a mechanics perspective (since many say it borrows from the AC games).

My BIG BIG BIG issue is a crashing bug. Very bad. It crashes when I start the game and it connects to Ubisoft Connect. I fixed it by putting the Switch into airplane mode, so it won't connect to Ubisoft.

I heard there is a patch next week to fix it. I'm cool not connecting to Ubisoft.

@MindfulGamer

Foregone is a lot of fun. Only problem is that it is just action non-stop I needed to take a break every once in a while because I was getting action fatigue.

But yeah, it's very good fun.

Also, I like how the bosses aren't too hard. Some games have super hard frustrating bosses. That kills the pace and enjoyment for me in some games.

Quick question about Nintendo Europe.

I'm working in Russia and Nintendo games don't hit the shop on release day (they come a week or so later to the shops). If you want the game you need to buy it on the eShop. But the eShop Nintendo games are priced around 20 dollars higher than in the shops.

So, if you really want the game day one then you need to buy it at a higher eShop price (BOTW is even more expensive than others on the eShop).

Do any other regions have this strange pattern of games being more expensive on the eShop than in stores (and stores not selling them day one)?

Re: Doom Eternal For Switch Will No Longer Receive A Physical Release

I would be excited for a shadow drop.

I'll pick it up if the quality is good. The file size may be compressed because of the original game's size, and not everyone has an SD card.

I played a bit of this on PC, but I don't like sitting in front of a tv screen anymore. Switch spoiled me and I rather play my games on my bed and just chilling. Excited for this game--digital or not.

Re: Talking Point: Does Nintendo Have A Refund Problem?

Vsaxo27

I want to add that refunds should be permitted for broken games. Tower of Time is a great example. Crashes to home menu, even after patches and still has the issue after another patch (even went on sale to garner more buys pre patch). Othercide not game breaking, but game inhibiting. In these instances the product is broken.

Devs on Discord say that patching clearance by Nintendo takes a long time, so even if a patch is planned you are stuck with a broken game that you had paid for, in some cases for many months.

For consumers, customers and gamers I feel that everyone should make their voice heard that Nintendo should change their policy regarding refunds.

This is even more important for players who pay more for their games because of the region they live in (like me). I feel cheated when I buy a broken game (that reviews didn't mention being broken) and I am out of a good chunk of money.

This will also hopefully prevent publishers from releasing broken or games not ready for the market. It will also stunt publishers from lying to customers about the quality of the game before and during release.
