So it's really not like it's just a picture book with nothing to read.
@EmmatheBest I am also waiting for the Aquario LE. Been mailing the customer service twice, never getting a reply. So I gotta applaud any company that is open and upfront with their potential customers.
@Abeedo Totally with you on that one. At first I was extremely hyped to see a return of AW, but the 3D models look really cheap to me. Really genuinely happy for everyone who is looking forward to this, but I rather play the old games again instead of this.
Anyone else NOT having that bunny day event? I am on the latest update, account linked and whatever, but no bunny to be seen. Cherry blossoms, new insects, but those eggs are nowhere for me...
Has anyone actually seen Octopath as discounted on the eshop? It's still full price, as others, too, have already stated in the comment section. I'd love to get this at -40% but it seems to be FAKE NEWS
@Dm9982 You're welcome. This is definitely the most user-friendly this game has ever been, the automapping does make life SO much easier, instead of having to go back to graph paper Also the balance of the new AGES mode is quite nice, while not feeling to cheap.
Couldn't resist getting this. Phantasy Star was my first RPG... it's been a while. This release has some awesome features: -you can switch between regular and the superior sounding FM music. -there's an automap feature -there's a SEGA/AGES mode, that'll have fewer random encounters, -you get more money and it's overall a little easier -plenty of video modes -a monster compendium -lists with all spells, weapons and items for quick reference
If you ever had any interest in Phantasy Star, this is the definitive way to play it imho.
Gotta throw my 5 cent into the ring here: having played the game a few years ago on my phone, I can say that it's a really fun p'n'c with a charming sense of humor and pretty decent voice casting as well. The puzzles are tricky at times, but (imho) not nearly as frustrating as the review would make it seem. BUT a lack of touch control is just... puzzling (heh). Especially since this game was on touchy devices years ago. It's cool you can cycle through hotspots, but that should only be an additional thing in case you're having problems spotting something. I'd say: with touch controls this is a strong 7/light 8. But in the state it is now, I'd also give it a 6. Maybe they'll provide an update.
"Our mentality will be we’ll announce information close to its launch date versus teasing people for years on end." ...except when it's Metroid Prime 4. Then we'll tease for years.
I really like the graphics a lot, a nice 8-bit vibe and overall appealing art style. But I just don't enjoy endless runners, they just don't do it for me. Wish this had a few levels and bosses instead and be over with in 2 hours, but hey, I do hope they get some sales. These days it seems you can't fail when you release something on the switch.
@arrmixer I have it for PS4 and Vita and must say I played it a lot more on the handheld version... But then again, with the Wii U you could play it on the pad, too, no? If so, I'd go for the Wii U version. If not, go for the 3DS one. Either way, get the game, it is really good.
@Kirk I love the Master System version. And find it actually better in some ways than this 3D remake of the arcade port. I did get it, finished it with all three endings, and love what M2 did here once again. BUT: the potions are gone, that you could buy (and find) in the SMS version, as well as the possibility to permanently upgrade your standard bullets. And there's always just a light and dark zone in each level, whereas the SMS version had levels with 3 zones. Also you could decide when to enter the boss fight and the shops were permanent. Those are all things that made the sms version extremly good, in my opinion. So yeah, the remake is great, but you have to keep in mind it is the remake of the arcade port and not the original MKIII/SMS version.
Already bought Fantasy Zone 2, was waiting for that one. For someone who only knew the Sega Master System version, this is quite different in how the zones within a level work, shop placement, life meter and so on. Still, I love the music, the 3D effect is excellent, and I am looking forward to unlocking some stuff, we'll see. Honestly, that's how you remake/remaster classic games, those Sega 3D ports are just awesome.
Looks really nice, but I havet to admit I am so much more interested in Fantasy Zone 2, which I played through on my master system so often, because I just love the music and colorful look. Hopefully it'll get a Europe release as well.
Am I the only one wondering how the card actually works, how the menu is, how fast the load times are, how it handles saving, if it's updateable, if you can use cheats, if there are any limitations and so on? Somehow all it says is how the thing looks like and how well it's packaged. Well that's pretty cool but not really a review
only a 3 star rating? hm... well i guess it's because i grew up with the master system that my opinion of this game is a much higher one. i love the soundtrack, the songs are really amazing. the game plays pretty good and considering the horsepower of the sms this looks amazing. it's tough and i never managed to finish it...
this was one of my first video games i owned. wipes a tear away and honestly, this game deserves a FIVE star rating, not four. i usually could care less about reviews, but this is a real gem.
i want that option for master system games, since some of them made use of the fm chip in the japanese master system, like phantasy star (sounded so much better... wow) and i definitely would love to see msx get a european release. what's the big deal anyway, it's not like they're risking any investment.
hmmm the game i recieved with my master system back in 1986 was hang on, but alex kidd was one of the first modules i had.... really outstanding game, still love it... i am surprised people liked shinobi world that much? after seeing how incredibly BAD the 2nd kidd game was, i gave up on the series.
i never had the light phaser and i SO wanted the 3d glasses but no store near me had those... there was one game that was supposed to be amazing with them, i just can't recall the name, something with maze too? hrm i know there was a 2d and a 3d version of it tho
haha, yes i did have that game built in. but i didn't knew about it until 1988. as you may know, it wouldnt just start when you turned on the sms, but you had to 'activate' it with a button/joystick combo while turning the system on. i read about it in a mag 1988 and was really excited, tho the game itself is... well.... crap

No soundtrack, no art book... no buy for me.
Gotta say, the pricing is really good, you get a lot for your buck, but it's all stuff I have no interest in.

@BlackenedHalo definitely more than I had expected, there's way more stuff than, for example, with the Thunder Force IV release.
