None of that stuff happened in Fatal Fury 3: Road to Final Victory. The last canon game before hand was Real Bout Fatal Fury. That's when Geese fell to his death, for real that time.
Soooo let me get this straight. 1. They release the game several months after initial release 2. DLC confirmed to never ever be available for Wii U. 3. They want full price for a stripped down version of the game.
And yet every time Ubisoft (or any 3rd party for that matter) pull this stunt, they wonder why the Wii U version sells the worst. Are they really that stupid or are these 3rd parties trying to sabotage Nintendo into going the route of Atari & Sega?
I call bull. I've lost faith in a lot of 3rd parties. They'll make the same claim that their game is Wii U exclusive, then in a few weeks it'll get ported, OR it gets switched to multiplatform and the Wii U version either gets stripped down or canceled.
So when the Wii U version is released months after the others, a week later Ubisoft can complain about how the Wii U version is the lowest selling and act completely mystified as to why.
Despite owning all 3 games, if this came included with the encyclopedia that the west missed out on then I'd be happy to double dip. Otherwise, regretfully I'd have to pass.
Developers are just lazy when it comes to Nintendo. Most of them want to see Nintendo take the same road as Sega and put minimal effort into developing games for them. This couldn't have been more clear during the days of the Wii. There were some solid 3rd party games, such as No More Heroes, those along with 1st party titles like Super Mario Galaxy shown that the Wii was a good system that devs could do great things on.
But what happened? A lot of sloppy ports and only if the game was also ported to PS2 most of the time. Dev cause their own problems on Wii U.
I surely hope it's for 3DS. Despite being a 3rd party developer, Capcom has pretty much kept the Ace Attorney series on Nintendo systems. I'd be pretty bummed if Ace Attorney 6 was exclusive to the Vita since I don't own or want one. However, it most likely will be. If it's digital only, I'd be fine with that too.
My impossible wish: It's a 3-way crossover, starring Phoenix and his Psyche-Lock gameplay, Apollo and his Perception gameplay, and Edgeworth with his Investigation gameplay with Trucy, Maya, Ema, Kay, & Athena as sidekicks.
So they release like what? One game this year? And they're shocked that one game only sold a small percentage of their total sales for the year? And they're claiming THAT'S proof enough to validate their abandonment?
I'll probably pick up a 2DS after a while. With Christmas around the corner, I need to buy for others before I buy for myself. I'm buying a 3DS XL for my fiance. I've considered getting her the 2DS instead since she used to hate 3D with a passion, but out of the blue, she's suddenly a huge fan of 3D. Plus it comes in pink which is a huge selling point for her.
I dunno what it is about the 2DS. I understand full heartedly that it's JUST another 3DS model... but I want one so bad.
Day 1 download for me. No doubt about it. I'll be staying up til midnight waiting.
Although Capcom, you make me raise an eyebrow by giving Ducktails Remastered, originally a digital only game, a boxed retail release while Ace Attorney, normally a boxed retail series, is getting a digital only release...
I dunno what it is about Liberty City, but I tend to only enjoy games that take place there, GTA2 being the sole exception. I have no clue why since between GTA, GTA3, and GTA4 all have different versions of it. There's just something about the layouts they make for it. With that being said, I WOULD have bought GTA5 just to show some support for the Wii U and given it an honest try, but since it skipped Wii U, I'm not gonna bother.
So, a normally boxed retail game is getting a digital only release in North America, while a normally digital only game is getting a boxed retail release?
What the hell Capcom? Does this mean I get a box for Phoenix Wright after all?
I'm okay with digital. I'd prefer a physical copy, but I'll live with digital. Especially if that means maybe, juuuuuuuuust maybe, we'll see a digital copy of Investigations 2 appear on the eShop someday.
I really do think that 3rd party developers are trolling the Wii U. I mean let’s look at their complaints.
Release a year old port, but instead of charging budget price as on other systems, Wii U version is full price despite having NO extra features or any incentive to pay full price when people can get it $40 cheaper on another system. Complain when game doesn’t sell well.
Only release a couple of games during the holiday season and don’t touch it ever again. Complain in JULY that your Wii U sales are low despite not releasing anything new since December.
Release your port alongside other consoles, but take away a few features from the Wii U version for no apparent reason. Act shocked when nobody wants to buy the stripped down version at full cost.
Release exclusive Wii U game. It starts to sell well. Despite it being a promised exclusive, immediately port it to the other systems. Suddenly people who were going to buy a Wii U for your game don't have to because it's available on every other system. Complain now that the Wii U version isn't selling well.
Announce a Wii U exclusive. Pre-orders skyrocket. Announce game is going to be multiplatform. Non-Wii U owners no longer have incentive to buy a Wii U and cancel their Wii U version pre-order to pre-order for the console they already own. Complain when Wii U version has least pre-orders.
I mean they can't really be that stupid. It has to be intentional.
This comes as no surprise to me. I remember reading an article on a gaming news site way back in 2003 that had an interview with Miyamoto asking how Wind Waker fit into the timeline with its opening and the great sea seemingly throwing a huge wrench in virtually every timeline theory. Miyamoto had (supposedly) said that the setting was intentionally made to defunct timeline theories because, while some Zelda games are connected to each other, Ocarina, Mojara, & Wind Waker for example, there never was one set timeline that made every game fit.
He said (supposedly) that the Legend of Zelda was just that; a legend, and depending on where you hear a legend, certain details are bound to be changed but the essential story is always the same. In Zelda's case, it's usually Link, Zelda, a great evil, & the Triforce.
I took that interview as Zelda Law and laughed at every timeline theory I read. Then Hyrule Historia came out and threw everything I knew out the window.
I've just about had it with Ubisoft. They are so back and forth on whether or not they're supporting Wii U. I'm already not buying Rayman Legends, or any of the Raymans on 3DS for that matter, but now I'm about ready to just avoid Ubisoft titles in general. I used to like them about as much as Capcom.
I kind of feel like the Wii U is having the same start as the Xbox 360. When the 360 first released, all it got was shiny versions of what was coming out on the current gen consoles. Even their exclusives weren't that spectacular at first. As time went on, the 360 put out some pretty impressive looking games, greatly outdoing the PS3 according to Lensoftruth. I think the Wii U will do the same. Once the graphics war starts, we'll see what the Wii U can really do.
I see it as a sign that EA is just being bitter about the whole Origin thing. Doesn't bother me any. If EA doesn't want to develop for Wii U then I guess I just won't be buying any EA games. If they don't like money, then that's their problem I guess.
Day 1 purchase for me. I really don't like having it be download only as I really wanted a physical copy to add to my collection, but I can deal with it. I'm missing Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney - Investigations 2 and Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney because, well, they never released them here so my collection is already ruined anyway.
I'm really not digging Phoenix's new voice, but I can deal with that too. That's probably just nostalgia that's bugging me. Either way I'm excited to play as Phoenix again. Not saying I disliked Apollo's journey, but I didn't think they handled Phoenix well in Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney.
I hope if Earthbound proves successful that Nintendo would do what Capcom did with Megaman 9 & 10 and go back and make Earthbound 64. They've already got the story and characters down with Mother 3, so why not give us the 64 version we all waited for until it got canceled? Should be easy to remake the game in outdated tech.
I only have one Game Watch and it's Super Mario World. I'd say the SMB3 explanation on how the controls work apply to the SMW watch as well. I always wanted a Star Fox watch.
@DStroke Remember though, if the Wii U version is an exclusive Director's Cut and it does sell well, it'll just be ported to the twins later. Nintendo tends to get screwed over like that lately.
I agree with many of the points addressed in the letter, however, I must digress that it's not Nintendo's fault if 3rd Parties who promised support are suddenly backing out. If anything, it's their promise being broken, not Nintendo's.
Sure would be nice if we got other games from Capcom that we asked for. Like say, oh I dunno, Mega Man Legends 3 or Aliens vs. Predator Arcade for example.
I'll buy it if it comes out on Wii U. I've held off getting it for PS3 because Randy said the Wii U version was the best. After the abysmal reviews the twins got, I'm waiting & hoping Randy was right. If it skips Wii U, then I'll pass since we know the twins' version is terrible.
I'll buy a Wii U version, otherwise Sega, Gearbox, & whomever else worked on it won't be getting a sale. It feels like such a waste to buy it for my PS3 after what was promised for Wii U.
Well I was gonna buy it, but if there's a possibility they may get pressured into a Wii U port, then I will hold off & see if that happens. Plenty of other games in the pipeline to keep me busy until then.
Well I certainly won't be buying Rayman Legends now. It's a shame too, because I've never played Rayman before, and I was looking to buy what I could of the series from the various Nintendo eShops, as well as any hard copies for GBA & Wii not already released digitally.
I guess I don't really care that it's not an exclusive anymore. I mean, as long as we get the game, that's what matters in the end. It's sad, but Nintendo fans should be used to losing exclusives because we've seen it before. We lost great exclusives like Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Chronicles series, Resident Evil: Revelations, House of the Dead: Overkill, No More Heroes, Killer7, Viewtiful Joe, MySims series, and now Raymen Legends just to name a few.
The thing that's a deal breaker for me though is the delay. It's done solely so Wii U doesn't get ahead of the competition. The Wii U is purposefully taking a hit and being held back. It's a finished game. Why not release it? Developers don't seem to have a problem porting a game from the Twins over to Nintendo months after the original is planned for release, but when the shoe is on the other foot, we have to wait for the Twins to catch up before we get our game. It's just stupid. And I own the Twins, so it's not like I won't be able to play the game in some form or another. Just the action itself has turned me off from Ubisoft and Rayman from here on out.
And here I had all kinds of faith in Ubisoft for their seemingly never-ending contributions to Wii U. Well, forget that. I thank you Ubisoft for ZombiU, but that might be the last game of yours I buy for a while because this move just flat out pisses me off to the point to where I just don't want to support you anymore.
Alrighty. So I bought Harvest Moon on Wii mode on my Wii U. I did this, ohh, I'd say about 2 days ago. Still no survey. Looks like the NOA support person I talked to was wrong after all.
I called Nintendo and asked them about this. I asked if it would wipe my Wii memory on the Wii U if I simply bought a game on Wii & then transferred it to Wii U in order to get the surveys. They told me that the news in this article isn't true and that you'll get surveys for downloading VC & WiiWare games in Wii Mode on the Wii U. I'm gonna try it in a little bit and I'll keep you updated on who's right and what works.
