The only thing that annoyed me about the Game Boy Micro was the removable faceplate, because it would get dust behind it and I don't think they ever released official faceplates here in the UK anyway!
Other than that though, I think it's STILL a very cool device.
I never really thought Star Fox's type of gameplay was well suited for multiplayer anyway. Sure it's a nice bonus, but once we've got online games like Mario Kart and hopefully another game like Metroid Prime Hunters, I'm sure we'll all get over it.
Make it a free DSiWare download at a later date, if not for everybody then for those who register the game at Club Nintendo. Better than nothing, right?
Make the special edition of Pokemon Black & White a 3DS exclusive (but don't call it 'Grey version'). Then just sit back and watch the money print. A few Touch Generations type games should help win over the Brain Training crowd too.
Pokemon? If that doesn't get people to buy a 3DS, nothing will...though to be honest the only Pokemon game I'd likely buy now would be the Blue version on the Virtual Console, from the good old days.
At least wait until we get past Christmas for this sort of thing, otherwise all the people that have resisted buying a 3DS so far will just hold off even longer. Nintendo must surely want to shift these consoles NOW, right?
A second circle pad thingy might be nice though, but whether you put it above or below the A,B,X & Y it could be a little more awkward than with the D-pad on the other side. But really, if they want two circle pads they should have included them in the first place; they must have considered it at some point during the design stages.
I just hope Nintendo aren't getting more and more like Apple and these mobile phone companies that seem to bring out slightly improved versions of their products every five minutes.
(If there is an add-on coming, perhaps they could let the 'ambassadors' get it for free, through Club Nintendo or something)
I just think that the price of games should be more in line with what you pay for a film or album, because it's still an expensive hobby for a lot of people.
Shame they couldn't just dig out the old tapes of the voice recordings and compress them again to a higher quality. Not too high though, because the voices were deliberately muffled on the N64 to sound like they were coming through your Arwings radio. The new voices sound like they will do the job well enough (though I'm hope they haven't left Falco out of the trailers because they're embarrassed by how his voice has turned out).
@Bensei: You find that a game from the nineties about animals flying spaceships reminds you of the attack on the World Trade Center? Really? I'd be less likely to make that connection than one between...Pikmin and Nazism.
I think it will be doing just fine by the Christmas season, especially as there'll be a much stronger bunch of games available for it than we have now (and hopefully Luigi's Mansion 2 following not long after).
Having it out already should give it the benefit of word-of-mouth, so people will already know they want one when it comes to the time they expect to be spending more money on this sort of thing. I've already been letting most of the people I work with have a go on mine, and most say they'd like to get one of their own (it's actually quite surprising how quickly they say this, almost no sooner than you put it in their hands).
I'd like it if the prices of games were at least more in line with other media, like Blu Ray films for example. So a typical RRP of £20 in the UK would be about right I think.
My middle name is Luigi, but although I was born later in the same year Super Mario Bros. was released in the UK (1987), I don't think the choice was Nintendo related...
...but the reason for me keeping it when I made some changes to my name by deed poll recently definitely WAS Nintendo related! It's-a-me!
@Otaku: You took the words right out of my mouth. The ability to play DVD and Blu Ray discs would of course have been nice, but it's not what I'd buy a Nintendo console for. Besides, wasn't everybody already worried what the new controller would do to the price?
Could it be that communicating with more than one 'U-Pad' at once could be too much for the Wii U to handle? I'm all for Wii U / 3DS connectivity, but won't be surprised if the feature is utilised in only a handful of games, as has been the case with console / handheld link-ups in the past.
@ 207KD: Although I think the Wii remote is great, and the new one looks cool too, I'd be happy if every future Nintendo console used the Wavebird. To me the Gamecube controller is still the definitive (and most comfortable) traditional pad for 3D games (not so great for stuff like Capcom vs SNK though) and a pair of batteries in the Wavebird seemed to last months!
I guess this should mean it'll come with Club Nintendo points too. I still want that SNES classic controller, though I just know they'll add something even better to the Stars catalogue right after I eventually (hopefully) get it.
@taffy: It'll kind of suck if Leon's not in it, but as PS3 and 360 gamers will know Capcom are quite fond of downloadable content. So don't be surprised if the likes of Leon, Ada and who knows, maybe even a playable version of the RE4 merchant character turn up in the eShop, perhaps as early as launch day.
Instead of friend codes, what if when you accepted a friend request you chose whether they were someone you know in real life, or someone to game with but otherwise a stranger. The limits to how much you can interact would be determined by this setting, so if they're a real friend you could swap photos, offline game saves, gift VC games and maybe even use a channel that works a bit like a simplified Facebook with more of a Nintendo gamer focus. Parental control could be set so that you either have to input a password to approve a 'real friend' or never allow it, so that all friend interaction is limited to playing online multiplayer games and sharing Miis. Basically make adding friends as simple as typing or clicking on a name, but also limit the potential for inappropriate behaviour from strangers.
I definitely want 'Star Fox' in the title more than 'Lylat Wars,' but I think having both 64 and 3D looks a little clumsy, and that they should just use one or the other...or neither.
But the title is hardly the most important thing. If the voice acting has been redone, then I think that's the thing I'll be the most fussy about.
I've wondered for quite a long time why games are always so much more expensive than home video. Would it not expand the gaming audience even further if games were priced more like Blu-Ray films?
Well to be fair the first Modern Warfare WAS a great game, but Black Ops, although pretty good itself, just isn't in the same league as Mario. I think Red Dead Redemption deserved an award or two, but I read that Rockstar apparently refused to allow, supposedly because they felt that GTAIV was snubbed at the BAFTA's a few years ago. Hey, maybe next year they should give Ocarina of Time a 'Best Game Ever' award.
Hopefully all of Nintendo's games (and those of third parties that bother) will come with at least one card in the box, and of course the software that makes it work in the game itself, perhaps downloadable to the home menu or SD card as a channel, or even an update to a single AR channel that collects all the games for your growing collection of cards. For Pilotwings Resort the card be a launch pad for a toy helicopter, or with Nintendogs you could have your dog (or cat) run around your desk. How about the card as a base for a Jenga stack, or a hole from which little monsters emerge for you to squash with your real hand (just the one; you'd be trying to hold the 3DS steady with the other). I'm just glad that between these cards and Face Raiders (and hopefully a bit of VC) there'll be plenty of fun to be had right out of the box.
I guess I could make do with Face Raiders for a bit, maybe get Pilotwings or Street Fighter. But I'm really hoping Nintendo will read my mind and put Balloon Kid on the VC!
I remember renting Mario Party 2 and actually enjoying it, but the sequels I played were more depressing than fun. I might have to give 2 another look though.
I hate to say it, but I can see the 3DS being a five minute wonder with a lot of people, who'll just go back to their iPhones or whatever because they've always got them with them anyway.
What I'd like to have (if anything were possible) is a Game Boy Micro with the ability to save numbers, send text messages (no keypad, the d-pad and buttons should suffice if the on-screen display helps you out) and download old GB, GBC and GBA games. Oh, and no removable faceplate, as it just lets dust and dirt get behind the screen. Very basic then, so it would be as cheap as chips too.
Will there be any downloadable content for this? I think some staff at Nintendo of Europe who get sent this 'game' as a 'gift' might like to have sprites representing unsold copies of Super Mario All-Stars for Wii to chuck on the 'fire.'
Shonen Jump VS. Capcom (if possible) would be awesome, and vey popular too. Just imagine all the pre-orders they'd get after the first trailer of Ryu pitting his hadouken against Son Goku's kamehameha. Ker-ching!
Oh, and perhaps MvC3 will come to the 3DS instead, like maybe a year after it gets SSFIV.
Why not do what the PAL version of Sonic Mega Collection on the Gamecube did: Upon booting up the game you were given a choice of either 50hz or 60hz. If you chose 50hz you'd play the slower European versions of the Sonic games, and if you chose 60hz you'd play the faster and smoother American versions. Pretty simple solution, I think. There can't be such a shortage of space on a Wii disc that they couldn't fit two versions of All-Stars on there, and with pro-scan for the 60hz version too. I wasn't really sure about getting this before this news anyway. It seems a bit wasteful to stick a single SNES game (compilation or not) on Wii disc.
Whoa. Whoa! Whoa!! WHOA!!! 10 outta 10? When it comes to the UK I'll read the GameCentral review too, and if they give it at least a 7 I'll HAVE to buy it. I thought it looked good, but never expected it to be THIS good! Whoa.

Re: Nintendo Download: 18th June (Europe)
This is still the best Nintendo sports game, I think.
The graphics are crisp, clear and colourful and with a good framerate too. These qualities should ensure it has aged gracefully, along with the zoomed out camera that goes some way towards disguising the now blocky looking characters. The controls are very simple (for the most part you only use two buttons), but like all great Nintendo games they're not lacking in depth.
What it does lack is the 'special' moves of it's Gamecube follow-up, but I thought they were an annoying gimmick that bordered on cheating anyway. Unlike Mario Kart, this game of tennis is fun enough without power-ups and chaotic distractions. The only downside is the absence of an RPG-style adventure mode, so it lacks the scope of it's 'smaller brother' on the Game Boy. Still great though.
