The majority (if not all) of the titles have been available on Virtual Console for quite some time; and chances are, if somebody knows about the Mini, then they probably already own modern Nintendo hardware, and all the games featured on this latest attempt to rinse a bit more cash out of the gullible zealots who'll buy anything Nintendo branded. Ah, that's right... No one has downloaded any of the games from the VC, and have instead opted to wait for that piece of **** you see above. Yup!

Its existence doesn't suddenly become justifiable just because it looks like a miniature version of some popular console of yesteryear, either. "WHOOO! NOSTALGIA!", you say. Sorry to break it to you, but the NES isn't exactly aesthetically pleasing. Only diehard Nintendo loons consider that thing a design classic.

Not interested in any of the games mentioned above. The only game I wanna buy that'll be available in the back end of 2016 is that amazing looking arcade racer that's conspicuous by its absence from the list - 80's Overdrive.

Whiny über fanatical Nintendites who don't use emulators, don't have a NES and flashcart, and wanna play this and the rather large catalogue of high quality homebrew titles? Aw, too bad...

Might seem silly to some, but I think it has too many polygons to look authentic. It just looks like a tech demo from the late 1990's/very early 2000's. And why isn't it a straight up racer? It seems like a bit of a wasted opportunity to do something really special.

Looks awesome! Here's hoping an AES version is on the cards! (stranger things have happened).

I think we need video game critics more than ever. Nobody likes spending a wad of cash on a game, only to find that it's a dud. And then there's the issue of download only games (something that may become the norm - and there's no refunds for those titles). We need quality control.

Well, here's a reality check: you're on a Nintendo website, Cap'n Popular; your supposed insight of all things video games are relevant in these kind of sites, and these sites alone. You spout this stuff to the man or woman on the street and they'll laugh your *** back indoors - where you undoubtedly spend 90% (heh!) of your time.

@StarDust4Ever I said it was a bargain EVEN IF it's only compatible with 90% of the NES/Famicom back catalogue. The makers of the Analog NT claimed that their machine could play all games. It couldn't. And what's this nonsense about me being confused about famiclones and whatnot? What are you TALKING about?

@bluedogrulez $185 is a great deal, considering you get a built in Four Score, dual compatibility with NES and Famicom games, an FDS port, and HDMI output. If you just want a replacement NES and not something like one of those multi console machines, then the best real affordable alternative to the AVS is the $135 Hi-Def mod kit from Kevtris - and that's just for the board. This thing is bargainous, even if it can only play 90% of the back catalogue.

@peeks Why would I play 8-bit games through HDMI? Maybe I'd buy one because my 30 year old NES doesn't have any kind of Hi-def output.

This is potentially great news. Little or no loading times, game saves on the cart itself, and no more real problems reading games. They may even (hopefully) release an external optical disc drive for backwards compatibility.

A hack with just the "Great Job! Let's move on" sample at the end of each stage would be cool.

No. I like physical media (no more awesome box art if download only becomes the norm.) Nintendo are also cutting out the middleman with download only titles. Games may become far more expensive as a result. Then there's the issue of buying external hard drives for your growing collections. Also, it would be a bit of a hassle re-downloading everything if your HD drive decides to die on you. Nope, Nintendo.

$30 for six ancient titles? Capcom have lost it. Didn't Sega and Taito release compilations chock full of Megadrive and arcade titles a while back for half the price (and with a wealth of extras for each of the 20+ games on each compilation)? This is why people use emulators. Lunacy.
