@gcunit I watched Dragon Ball Z after I played this, both experiences don't hurt each other. The cutscenes and dialogue of this story are a lot of fun though
@Rayquaza2510 No offense bro but trying to argue back with @boatie isn't helping your case about him being childish. Trying to make him look stupid only makes you also look childish. If you were actually trying to avoid discussions with childish people, you wouldn't have replied altogether.
To anyone on the fence, FighterZ is a great time. Even beginning it is easy enough and flashy enough to hold your attention, I have 170 hrs on PC and I still play it all the time, and I got it launch weekend.
@ReaderRagfish It's subjective. I have a friend who is meh on it as well. I think most of it is alright, though logging in and going through the squid sisters cut scenes every time I want to play is annoying considering its several minutes long usually. I also preferred the music of the first one but that's also subjective.
"Fluid and smooth gameplay (30+ FPS)". Could they really not hit 60 FPS with those cheap graphics? Seems like it should be pretty easy considering Minecraft runs at 60 on everything, including Switch.
@Blizzia I would say it is super friendly, on the contrary. I sucked so much at fighting games leading up to playing FighterZ, but the auto-combos and the simple inputs for all of the special moves really helped me figure out simple moves and combos early on, and with my friends who were also just starting out, it was really just about blocking right and trying to land hits.
I would agree that at a top tier play level, combos are very much a necessity and essential to get anywhere in tournament standing. I think judging a game like this purely on its top tier play is a mistake though, considering most fighting games like these are pushed to the point of breaking at top tier play, even in more balanced games. By going on that logic, Melee can really only be played competitively with like 6 characters, and the only viable character playable in Smash 4 is Bayonetta.
I would agree though that to a newcomer watching or matching up with high level players, the game quickly becomes a daunting experience. Watching high level players even now, with how much I've improved over the course of playing the game since release, is still almost gross considering how absurd some combo strings that people execute are. I still believe that this is an excellent fighting game though, especially for newcomers. Before playing this, I had played many of the Street Fighter games and Injustice, and none of them pulled me in and made me want to learn the mechanics like this one did. Prior to playing the game, I wasn't even a Dragon Ball fan, either.
@PixelStef FAST is okay, but it really is kind of shallow compared to Redout. The physics in Redout allow you to get REALLY good and master the hovercrafts whereas FAST's physics are actually pretty basic, not allowing for much room to grow besides getting better at avoiding walls. I don't know much about the mid-gen ports of Redout but the PC version is silky smooth for how good it looks.
If the Switch port ends up being good, I highly recommend you all try it out. It's leaps ahead of FAST RMX with some really good physics that do a lot with momentum, makes the game feel like you're actually driving a hovercraft. Plus it's way faster. Not on F-Zero's level though, but I doubt anything will be until they actually make a new one.
@BanjoPickles Now that I could deal with. If this rumor is wholly true, Nintendo ditching a perfectly good futuristic racing game franchise to make a futuristic racing game with STAR FOX, I will actually smash something. Now, if they were to make both games and separately, those are an insta-buy for me. I like both of them a lot.
As far as the graphical upgrade goes, I think it's a nice plus. It may not be optimal for regular play, but if you're recording replays with the video recorder, I doubt the capture goes above 30 fps anyways. At the very least, the improved setting should make videos look a lot nicer, and would be fun to mess around with.
@Heavyarms55 Rocket League is a weird one. Early on it was meh for me as well. It mostly becomes fun and addicting once you play enough to get better and get matched up with players who did the same. Early on for me matches were just confusing messes where nobody knows what or how to do things, but later on when you get better games actually turn into stiff competitive bouts.
Early on I felt the same, and actually left the game for months or almost a year before I came back and got better, and then I racked up like 400 hours in the course of the past two years playing.
@Mr_Horizon no vehicles but the shooting is so much tighter and there's a smaller map, so it suffers way less from having to run across a continent to reach the circle.
@justin233 each crate contains one item, so one key will get you everything in the crate. I used the crates at first and got some cool stuff, but stopped cause I started getting stuff I didn't care about. I'd just play the base game, DLC cars are cool too if you don't wanna gamble on stuff.
@Sinton I haven't really experienced any on PC, and PC is normally the worst. Used to have a glitch where if an NPC would normally climb up the bottom right top rope they would just walk into the corner for 5 seconds, but its fixed I'm pretty sure. Other than that, the game is a huge improvement over 2k17 and 16 imo.
@justin233 Not really. Keys are cheap though, and pretty much everything you earn via crates is cosmetic, with the exception of cars, but none of the cars offer advantages. You can still earn plenty of stuff without crates, its just that some cosmetics are crate exclusive.
@thesilverbrick It doesn't really make them impossible, it just makes them less controllable than the GameCube version. Pressing the digital trigger could essentially just be pressing the analog all the way down. They did this with Most Wanted on Wii U, and it worked fine. It's not ideal, but it can still work.
It's literally the same image of the Snake but with a swapped background and closer up. People will find ANYTHING to make a [removed] deal out of like somebody bombed a school.
@TwilightOniAngel Not really. Had they done it and just outed it, not nearly as much intrigue and anticipation would have come out of it. When they did the thing with SEGA's website, anybody who went to the site would've seen it, the media had more time to speculate about it and get the news out. That way, people might be more inclined to go back and check and see what it was about. Otherwise, people might have never heard about it. I certainly wouldn't have heard about it.
@Dr_Corndog The framebuffer is at full 720p, however the in-game visual rendering is at a 640 X 720p. It's noticeable up close, but from farther away it's not as distracting.
