Re: Dragon Ball FighterZ Dev Team Discuss The Accessible Nature Of The Title

TheBoldman67

@Blizzia I would say it is super friendly, on the contrary. I sucked so much at fighting games leading up to playing FighterZ, but the auto-combos and the simple inputs for all of the special moves really helped me figure out simple moves and combos early on, and with my friends who were also just starting out, it was really just about blocking right and trying to land hits.

I would agree that at a top tier play level, combos are very much a necessity and essential to get anywhere in tournament standing. I think judging a game like this purely on its top tier play is a mistake though, considering most fighting games like these are pushed to the point of breaking at top tier play, even in more balanced games. By going on that logic, Melee can really only be played competitively with like 6 characters, and the only viable character playable in Smash 4 is Bayonetta.

I would agree though that to a newcomer watching or matching up with high level players, the game quickly becomes a daunting experience. Watching high level players even now, with how much I've improved over the course of playing the game since release, is still almost gross considering how absurd some combo strings that people execute are. I still believe that this is an excellent fighting game though, especially for newcomers. Before playing this, I had played many of the Street Fighter games and Injustice, and none of them pulled me in and made me want to learn the mechanics like this one did. Prior to playing the game, I wasn't even a Dragon Ball fan, either.

Re: More Pre-Order Cancellations Cast Serious Doubt Over Anti-Grav Racer Redout On Switch

@PixelStef FAST is okay, but it really is kind of shallow compared to Redout. The physics in Redout allow you to get REALLY good and master the hovercrafts whereas FAST's physics are actually pretty basic, not allowing for much room to grow besides getting better at avoiding walls. I don't know much about the mid-gen ports of Redout but the PC version is silky smooth for how good it looks.

@Heavyarms55 Rocket League is a weird one. Early on it was meh for me as well. It mostly becomes fun and addicting once you play enough to get better and get matched up with players who did the same. Early on for me matches were just confusing messes where nobody knows what or how to do things, but later on when you get better games actually turn into stiff competitive bouts.

Early on I felt the same, and actually left the game for months or almost a year before I came back and got better, and then I racked up like 400 hours in the course of the past two years playing.

@justin233 each crate contains one item, so one key will get you everything in the crate. I used the crates at first and got some cool stuff, but stopped cause I started getting stuff I didn't care about. I'd just play the base game, DLC cars are cool too if you don't wanna gamble on stuff.

Re: Video: Here's What WWE 2K18 Looks Like On Switch

@Sinton I haven't really experienced any on PC, and PC is normally the worst. Used to have a glitch where if an NPC would normally climb up the bottom right top rope they would just walk into the corner for 5 seconds, but its fixed I'm pretty sure. Other than that, the game is a huge improvement over 2k17 and 16 imo.

Re: Review: Rocket League (Switch eShop)

@justin233 Not really. Keys are cheap though, and pretty much everything you earn via crates is cosmetic, with the exception of cars, but none of the cars offer advantages. You can still earn plenty of stuff without crates, its just that some cosmetics are crate exclusive.

Re: That Bayonetta Countdown, Unsurprisingly, Was for a PC Port

TheBoldman67

@TwilightOniAngel Not really. Had they done it and just outed it, not nearly as much intrigue and anticipation would have come out of it. When they did the thing with SEGA's website, anybody who went to the site would've seen it, the media had more time to speculate about it and get the news out. That way, people might be more inclined to go back and check and see what it was about. Otherwise, people might have never heard about it. I certainly wouldn't have heard about it.
