This is gold. BotW is amazing (and among my favorite games ever) but it's not "one-of-its-kind". The most unique aspects of BotW are the iconic visuals (which is why this game got so much flak after the trailer) and a couple of other mechanics (I'd say climbing everything you see is the most unique of the bunch, but even that is not the first of its kind). The combat is, in my eyes, a combat system that rips off Horizon Zero Dawn plus the weapon degrading system.
This game is maybe inspired by BotW but it's not a rip-off. Rip-offs are the garbage that directly say "Hey, I'm a crappy alternative to this game, buy me!". The gameplay (you know, thr thing that matters the most) is vastly different from BotW, resembling something like the Musou games or hell, other hack-n-slashes that rely on combos. The style is more anime-like.
BotW is absolutely amazing, but worthy of breaking your console when you see a "rip-off"? Are you out of your mind? Imagine if Uncharted fans see that garbage called "Unearthed" (yes, seriously), an obvious rip-off, just plain destroy their PC. You should visit a therapist, you're endangering people all around you in the condition you're in. You might hit a guy because he's drinking Pepsi instead of Coke.
Ah, I'm a pretty big Kairosoft fan and played most of their games on Android. Among the best business management games available.
Unfortunately, they got a bit stale with time. Still fun though, Game Dev Story is a classic. Out of these (besides Game Dev Story) I'd go with Mega Mall Story narrowly followed by Dungeon Village.
@SwitchForce The WiiU is dead, yes, but so are other Nintendo consoles. They could easily port a, for example, Wii title and make some cash but instead choose to port a WiiU title. Then again, yes the WiiU sold horribly and it's fine they're porting the games, but that's the only thing they're doing at the moment.
@electrolite77 Sure, I did say "I'd like this and I'd like that", but I merely stated some examples, games that could easily be great choices for porting. I don't hate ports since they allow people to play amazing games from past generations they couldn't play, and I know that's an effective business practice, but they can easily port a better game from another console. Or they could just listen to fans and release VC, the money would just pour into their wallets effortlessly.
Well... Fine? Switch is filled with WiiU games right now and I'm getting kinda sick of it. While there are certain WiiU games that absolutely need to be ported (Xenoblade Chronicles X and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE coming to mind, Pikmin 3 after Pikmin 1 and 2 would be available through the much-anticipated VC), some of the ports are useless. NSMBU? Seriously? Nintendo could easily make a new one or port any NSMB and it would be fine (I'd personally like to see NSMBWii rather than the WiiU one). SM3DW is also unnecessary, they can make a new one using the same assets from the previous game.
I'd rather see Virtual Console or remasters/remakes of N64/GC/Wii/3DS titles. Come on, give me that F-Zero GX fix. Port the two Luigi's Mansion games onto the Switch. The first Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story. Hell, I want to play Super Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy in HD. Four Swords Adventures. Sega games on the GC were also a blast, especially Skies of Arcadia Legends. As a Harvest Moon fan, the GC and Wii ones are very much welcome.
You have so many console generations and yet you just port games from the direct predecessor. I get you, Nintendo, it's easier to just do a one-on-one port of a game a small amount of people played rather than doing an actual remaster/remake, but come on. It's not like actually nobody bought the WiiU.
Like seriously, the Switch's lifespan just started. You can port the games in the following years, you don't have to do it in a single year.
Okay, as a huge Atelier fan (finished every game from Mana Khemia onwards) I have to admit that I'm really disappointed in the Mysterious trilogy. The Arland and Dusk trilogy are amazing, all games would get a 8-9 out of 10 if I rated them, but the Mysterious trilogy is a 7 for every game. I will get this game either way, but on my Vita (I have yet to buy a Switch but my Vita will do for now).
I hope they will do a better job with the next trilogy.
I don't mind the fact they didn't dub it. Why? Because the dub is average (not bad, not good) and they translate 20% of the voices. In Japanese every event is voiced, in English only the main story events are voiced.
Also, @Yorumi, I plan on picking TLoH: Trails of Cold Steel. What are your opinions on it? I saw great reviews so I plan on picking it up. So, it's extremely long?
EDIT: Just saw it won't get a overseas Vita release. Guess I'll have to save some money for a Switch, then.
We've killed nazis in the SNES and GBA port of Wolfenstein 3D (which were pretty bad, unfortunately), and we'll kill them again in Wolfenstein II. Killing nazis is always fun.
I'm sad that people want that Nintendo stops supporting the 3DS. Everytime I see a topic for an upcoming 3DS game, people always whine that it won't get released on the Switch, but the 3DS. The most recent one is 80s Overdrive.
Don't get me wrong, the Switch is an amazing console and I'd like to see new games for it, but that doesn't mean that the 3DS should've died the instant the Switch got released. Nintendo would be no better than Sony then, would they?
The first thing I learned on physics class in high school: the weight itself doesn't matter, but the shape does. Here's an example: a regular, flat piece of paper falls down much slower than a crumpled piece of the same weight. You can see it didn't flip in the very least, but 'glides' down while holding a horizontal position, since the shape of the Switch resembles a paper. That's the reason I think it survived.
Better delaying it than making it garbage. I'm always for developers taking their time for making the game more polished. Just look at Valve. They're delaying their games a lot but those games always end up great.
People are saying this video is useless, but it's not. It's showing us that the 3DS is capable of getting games ported from home consoles and not reducing the graphical quality by a big margin.
Overall, it looks nearly identical, the interface is even more accessible than before, and even though NSMBU style doesn't look as good as on the Wii U, it's still passable and the graphics don't ruin the gameplay. I would say that Nintendo did a great job of porting a Wii U game to an, shall I say, inferior handheld console.
So everybody, I got it today and I have to admit that this is one of the best Mario experiences on the 3DS. Remember, I don't own a Wii U, so I'm not comparing it too much to the Wii U version. I can see why people don't like the exclusion of online level-sharing, but I got over with it. I'm going to show my levels to my friends and cousins and laugh how often they'll die:) I created a few levels and the layout is simple and easy-to-use. The touch screen is responsive, the controls work great. The tutorial is a bit mundane, but you don't have to go through it if you're used to the game. It has a great level selection depending on your skill, which makes it a great game for kids and adults alike.
In my opinion, the score of 9/10 is well-deserved. I'm glad I got this game, and if you're full of creative ideas, but don't own a Wii U or you travel a lot, or even if you want to play this at home, this will satisfy your needs.
@ironside1911 I don't really understand you. Firstly, I don't go to high school. I graduated last year. But I don't like your hatred towards highschool students like they're a bunch of doofuses that cannot have an opinion.
Secondly, you're making it something like you're part of an all-mighty race which can afford to get games a week before it releases. I like getting the game on the release day or a few days later, it builds up the hype even more.
Thirdly, are you saying that everyone that wrote a negative comment played the game, but the people with positive comments didn't?
You know what? I don't care what you all say. The game isn't out, so you cannot review it yourself. I don't own a WiiU and I really want to play this game. Sure, it's limited compared to the WiiU version, so what? Level-sharing was never my thing, and I like playing on the go. Also, we'll get a lot of levels made on the WiiU and a lot made officially by Nintendo, so I think the exclusion of level-sharing and Mystery Mushroom shouldn't be too much of a problem to people who just want to create levels for themselves.
A 9/10 from NL and a 76 overall score on Metacritic (from 33 reviewers) seems pretty good to me. Slightly worse, but still worth a buy.
I remember when NL was all excited about this game in an upcoming game article. The game looked bad even from the screenshots there and I was like 'Damn me if this game gets something more than a 5.' It's a shame since its concept looks really promising.
@Raien Really? That's a shame. Well, I'm gonna get it either way. It will be a slight pain to make levels on a small screen, but I still think it'll end up just as fine on the smaller Old and New 3DS screens. Playing through the stages... Well, you got NSMB2 on the 3DS and it works just fine, so I don't think there will be any kind of problem concerning that.
I'm definitely getting this. My country really sucks - the Wii U is nowhere to be found (or extremely expensive), and I barely got a 3DS. I really like all kinds of level-making games, so this is like a treat to me. I don't really care about sharing because I'm going to make games only for myself, and if it has tons of checked levels, I don't need a million of levels where over half of them suck. To be honest, this is my most anticipated game. Yes, it's even above Sun & Moon.
It would be great if it's like this:
Nintendo: Super Mario Maker for 3DS - no online sharing. BUY NOW!
After release:
Me: Wait, didn't you say it won't have online sharing? This one certainly does.
Nintendo: Sorry, dear customer, but you've been the victim of our professionally crafted trolling. Contact Nintendo for more information.
Me: NOT AGAIN! DAMN YOU, NINTENDO!
Or that's how I think. Nintendo never was a serious company.
@Bolt_Strike The whole current gen is filled with mediocre games, and the 3DS library is the least mediocre of them all. That's my opinion, but you could take it as a fact because, well, it's true. Look at the Vita lineup and then comment again.
I nearly cried. During the whole Nintendo Direct 1/9/2016 video, I was on the verge of tears. Being a loyal 3DS owner, but not owning a Wii U, I was so happy that this game and Yoshi's Wooly World are getting ported to the 3DS. Making Mario stages on the go was always my dream. Thank you, Nintendo. Now to wait until December 2nd:D But, seeing the Direct video, there are a lot more 3DS games I can play until then, so don't rush it.

Serious Sam 4 better get a Switch release. Though that game will probably get released somewhere in like 20 years.

But the other additions are pretty boring.
