Re: Feature: What Do You Want From A New Nintendo Switch?

SuperZeldaMaker

Too soon for an upgrade,we need more games honestly.2018 is pretty underwhelming, average line up and average NSO.

The best way to sell more switch is to add more killer games,it would be really pretentious to release a new one atm...especially when they could improve it even more.

Re: SNK's Yasuyuki Oda Unsure About One-Hit Mechanic In A Metal Slug Reboot

It would remove all the fun for me...Vehicules are here for a reason after all and dodging bullets is thrilling.

The smartest way to approach it would be increasing movement, like adding a dash, slide or a wall jump.Adding a bulletproof vest or a ---> portable shield <--- for example, which is already in the game you know...Refining and testing patterns to death too.

It never felt unfair except on some boss, and the respawn mechanics, doesn't force you to restart the level from the beginning...

To me that's BS PR at its finest...

But no, "Modern developpers" 😏 are lazy bums and are clearly unable to take five minutes to think and improve gameplay.

Instead of giving you more tools to deal with difficulty they prefer to remove it completely, out of fear of upsetting players.

To me it's a bad habit, stop dumbing down my games !!!! 😑

Modern gamers have no hands or something ? Or maybe they like to be treated as little snowflakes ?

I find it insulting for them, the new generation has amazing gamers, but we all know modern audience here simply means casual player, and i don't say that in a derogatory way.

Re: Random: Katamari Director Wasn't Impressed With Mario Or Zelda On Switch

SuperZeldaMaker

Odyssey is a little bit too "flat" for my taste. There's a lot of great ideas but it's somehow lacking in term of platforming.I've been recently watching Sunshine's speedruns on AGDQ and man that's more than obvious...

Zelda is wonderful in many ways but i would have reduced the worldmap just a little bit to add dungeons and castles with the same sense of epic scale and diversity.

Don't get me wrong i loves these games but they're pretty much contemporary designwise...Avoiding at all cost to frustrate the player or challenging him just a little.

It's a video --->game<--- after all,i'm here to play not simply "explore and experience" even though it was more than a pleasant ride.

@RootsGenoa

Why ? Play it 30 minutes and it won't be a problem at all...

Not against you but gamers these days...It's plain stupid.

I grew up with both japanese and pal games and it never bothered me to swap between x or o to confirm/cancel.Took me five minutes to adapt to DS.

It's too slow, it's too hard,it's too 30fps,it's too slugish, it's inferior on switch,i can't confirm with B... Smh

You should play a dexterity build,falchion/rapier, with light armor. The knight is not the fastest one but everything is related to stats, less armor/weight=more speed.Try different weapons and movesets you'll surely find one that 'll suit your playstyle.

DS's pace is intentional and I'd say MH is even slower tbh...Any hit is dangerous, DS is more about waiting for the best opportunity, well timed dodge/parry and movement. This is clearly not an action Game. Keep in mind you're playing knights with heavy armor and weapons...

That's exactly why DS is amazing imho and it's also faster than Demon's Souls, which I prefer because you feel even more the weight of the armor and the strength of the strikes.

People tend to give up too early, just adapt and you'll be greatly rewarded by this amazing world and its lore. It's totally worth the effort.

It's harder at the beginning, but there's nothing impossible to overcome.

You'll have to figure many things by yourself,DS won't treat you like a child.

Re: Reminder: The Dark Souls: Remastered Switch Network Test Is Starting Today

Dark Souls is a masterpiece that really deserves to be played. I was pleasantly surprised by the Switch version and I'll probably double dip.

For you guys out there, don't give up so early,DS rewards patience, and observation. What amazed me the most about it was the level design, it's a giant Maze filled with shortcuts, memorable sceneries, and amazing lore.

If you're only used to nintendo games it may be hard to adapt at first but progression is really rewarding.Ds is a love letter to european folklore.

If you want to be good at DS you need to play DS, your amazing skills at Mario or Splatoon won't save you here 😁

You didn't get my point but whatever i'm a salty snowflake who can't afford a 20 buck subscription.I'm out to find a decent job and man up 😂 thank you 👍

You like to assume things don't you ? Sorry for being poor, i'm sooooo jealous of your Netflix/amazon/starbuck/McDonald's subscriptions while i struggle to get NSO...like for real...

We'll see how this awesome service will end up.If it changes I'll be the first one to admit i was wrong.

The popular demand wasn't about Nes games btw unless you've been living under a rock.

Smh...

"The issue is you are a niche retro gamer who values classics over indie games and the other things the system has to offer, but the system isn't being made for you exclusively"

I never said that, you're just assuming i'm stuck in the past when in fact Nintendo's brand recognition is all about Nostalgia and fan service.I'm more than happy with what the system has to offer now, it's simple, fast, efficient and provides what i loved in the first place with video games.Something Sony and Microsoft struggle to provide more and more with few exceptions ofc.

That's why in canceled ps+ and barely touch my ps4 while i'm stuck for hours on jrpgs, classics, indies and welcomed quality third-parties.

If you believe indies are not based on classics and provide a whole new experience you probably don't understand why it works so well on Switch in the first place... thanks to niche gamers like me.

I'm a versatile "hardcore" player and i know exactly what i'm for Nintendo. I just don't understand when they fail to provide what they're supposed to.

"The real issue is, $20 a year is too little to pay for better games. Clearly they need cash flow to build a server farm and the appropriate network load balancing still. You may think Nintendo is this rich company but in reality, Nintendo only has a games division; Sony has music/movies/Tv's/walkman/etc and Microsoft has Windows/Office/MSNBC/Bing/Etc. It just isn't a fair fight at the moment. Give them time to evolve."

It's also a choice from them. They don't want to compete and honestly it's too late.If they did why would i buy NINTENDO anyway ? It's exactly why i buy Nintendo.

You make them sound like indies struggling to exist on the Market...

To my knowledge they never mentionned dedicated servers and online improvement.Thinking they'll improve everything once the cash flows is a supposition.I'll believe it when i see it and i usually pay for what i get and not what i may get in an hypothetical future.

Why should i pay for peer2peer ?

Re: Soapbox: Why I'm Not Excited About Playing NES Games On The Nintendo Switch

@BubbleMatrix82

I know and i understand that but how is this supposed to be an improvement ?

I'm not against the Netflix subscription type at all,but i don't call that a service.

I'm not sure what i'm paying for here...Underwhelming online service or underwhelming netflix-like service...or overpriced offers...

"give it time it will improve" is not enough for me.

Sorry nintendo but what was the year delay all about again ?

To me it was supposed to be a top notch Netflix service, online access and cloud saves are almost secondary.

But none of these features seem well implemented in the end.Nothing stands out here except dumb arbitrary restrictions ala Nintendo.

Re: Soapbox: Why I'm Not Excited About Playing NES Games On The Nintendo Switch

SuperZeldaMaker

Waiting a whole year for this is underwhelming to say the least...If it was released on launch date it would have been acceptable and the library would already be massive with snes/n64/gc games. For what cost ? 20 bucks or more ?

Waiting one or two years again expecting more from this service is annoying as hell. There's no guarantee at all snes/gc/n64 will be released at a later date and i won't hold my breath tbh.

The switch is an amazing console and to me they're clearly failing to provide the ultimate retro/nostalgia experience atm, while refusing to improve the Nintendo Switch, blatantly forcing arbitrary restrictions because why not...

They're totally diconnected from their customers and their expectactions. I'd gladly pay for an instant library of quality legacy games but they're providing too little too late.

I probably won't subscribe and i really wanted to, but it doesn't look like a "service" to me, at least not atm.

Their games are amazing but they treat their customers like crap expecting us to forgive anything.

Level up your game Nintendo, nostalgia won't save you forever.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Upcoming NES Game Releases For Switch Online Service

SuperZeldaMaker

At this point i hope we won't have to wait one more year to get more platforms emulated.

The switch is such a great device and i just don't understand why they refuse to bring a Legit VC only to replace it by this "atrocity"...

There's potential but man, i've been waiting a whole year for this ? We may have to wait two more years to get a decent library with no guarantee at all ?

I was really hype about it or a top notch VC/rétro service but honestly they're too stubborn and sometime border line anti-consumer.They once again missed the point.

I like Nintendo because they're conservative on what make them great but they should go easy on their growing hubris.I forgive them many things but it's starting to be a little bit too much for me...

Make new franchises with the usual talent and quality, and respect your legacy and customers. Is it too much asked or entitled ? Quit treating your customers like Kids.

If they refuse to bring something solid, fair and square quickly, the "emulation murder" may backfire on them really soon...

Re: Opinion: What Did You Think Of Today's Nintendo Direct?

SuperZeldaMaker

Not that impressed to be honest.I did expect more especially from the online service. I'm sold on FF and Capcom's classic bundle though.

I hope they'll come up with more than 3 Nes games per month..Killing the emulation scene ? Yeah it's their right after all but they'd better understand that "piracy" offers a better and more intuitive service in the end which is crazy when you think about it...And i'm not solely talking about it being obviously free.

Don't get me wrong I'd gladly pay but they did nothing after all, are they gonna do something convincing now ?
