Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Try to Recapture 'Hardcore' Gamers?

SuperLink

Unfortunately, many people seem to think that "hardcore" games are ones where you kill, and destroy, and kill some more. I'm talking about FPS games. Now, I'm not saying that FPSs are bad, but, they are changing peoples views on what a "hardcore" game is. People that play FPS games and nothing else on systems like the Xbox 360 and the PS3 groan when you mention something like Mario and the Wii. They always say "Oh dude, the Wii is SO ! That piece of crap is babies, bro!" and they say things like "Mario is like, the gayest thing in the universe." Frankly, that really rks me. It irks me to a point where I want to say something like "Oh yeah? You think that games like Mario are , huh? Well, how about you go and get 100% completion on Super Mario World and Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy. 1 AND 2. Then tell me if you think that Mario is gay." and then, they're gonna say "DUH, WHY CAN'T I JUST SHOOT'EM?" These people also think that if a games does not have good graphics, it sucks. Wow, that is a pretty fair judgement, considering that you have probably never even played an 8-bit or 16-bit game. Also, all of those FPS-shoot-kill-destroy-pull-trigger-make-house-go-boom people would probably fail to an awesome degree in an RPG where you actually have to solve puzzles and make decisions other than throwing a grenade. To all of those people, Nintendo is a joke because they only make "wuss" games like Kirby and Pokémon. To them, Sony and Microsoft are the only decent gaming companies because their games have great graphics and whatnot. Okay, do the games challenge your brain or make you think of ways to strategically think of a way to overcome your opponent other than "I'm gonna shoot him in the face".

Again, I don't think ALL FPSs are bad, I mean, c'mon METROID IS AWESOME! But, I do think they have blurred the vision of many gamers and have cauused them to think that the only respected gamers are ones that can make inappropriate gestures over a corpse that they have just killed.

Re: Over 2 Million Players Bought Mario's 25th Anniversary Game

SuperLink

please leave the moderating to us — TBD

I'm trying not to be (too) rude, but I'm kind of tired of hearing that a lot of people did not like it. Yeah, okay, we get it, it wasn't what you were expecting, let it go. You really don't want to comment on the other games that were on the chart (even though there were no labels, so we really didn't know what the numbers were exactly)? It was still cool to those of us who didn't have it back in the day.

@The Picture Caption Yes, he certainly does.

Re: Sony CEO Refers to Nintendo Handhelds as "Babysitting Tools"

SuperLink

Well, I'm sorry. I didn't know that the kind of hand-held gaming system defines what kind of man you are. I guess I should start playing PSP games so that I can be a self-respected member of society.

Plus, you know what I hate? I hate it when I bring up a conversation about Nintendo or the Wii, and then everybody around me is all like, "Duuuuude, the Wii is totally gay! Dude, why do you have a DS. That's really sad, are you like 5 years old or something?". Yeah, I hate that soooo much. I just didn't know that a game had to have hardcore blood, weapons, nudity, death, and cursing in it for it to be a really cool game, sorry. All I'm trying to say is that some people are really misguided.

Re: Capcom Brings New Super Mario Bros. Wii to the Arcades

SuperLink

5 things I have to say:

1. What's your deal Capcom, you don't OWN Mario!

2. Before I saw the video, I thought it was just gonna be a game where you play New Super Mario Bros. Wii, plain and simple, not a whole bunch of wheels and slot machines. (Although, if it was just playing the game, then it would be too easy to reach Bowser and win the "Mario Jackpot")

3. Good luck trying to get a turn for this game. It's gonna be crowded and hogged from the first minute the arcade is open, to the last. All the other games are gonna be collecting dust and thinking that they were as cool as Mario.

4. I hope you brought your coins because with all that stuff you can play, and with all of the tickets you can earn, it's gonna cost you AT LEAST a dollar in tokens.

5. All they need to make now is a The Legend of Zelda game (sword-slashing based, like those Samurai games). Then a Warioware game (mini-game based), then a Donkey Kong game (just like DKCR, that'll make a fair fight to win a final boss jackpot), then a Yoshi game (Puzzle based), then a Metroid game (Shoot'em-up based), then a Kirby game (side-scroller based, as it already is), and FINALLY a Star Fox game (flying/shooting based, like the Star Wars arcade game).

Re: The Brothers Mario 2 Trailer Introduces Us to the New Don

SuperLink

"What can I say, I'm hooked on the brothers!"

In all honesty, this is very well done. Not only do these people know how to tie basic Mario elements into a shoot'em-up, gangster like trailer, but they know what they're doing with all of those great refeneces that make you go "Wow, I can't believe they tied THAT in there!"

Re: Pac-Man Returns to Our TV Screens Via Unscripted Series

SuperLink

Uh, this is a tough one because who doesn't want cool TV shows based on our favorite video game characters, but then again, if it's like all those other shows back in the 80's, we're all in trouble if this thing hits our TV screens.

@Bulbasaurus Rex Yes, that is true, but the new episodes are really awful. Like REALLY awful.

Re: Earn Coins by Walking Around With Your 3DS

SuperLink

It's a cool concept, but I don't think that it's fair to make people walk to unlock stuff in games. And then there's the whole "battery" issue. Plus, there's always a chance for somebody or something to bump into you and it might (and I'm just saying MIGHT) break or mess up your hard-earned 3DS when you're walking around.
