Re: Feature: Samus Aran, Gaming's Leading Lady

SuperLink

I don't feel like any less of a man when I play as Samus. I mean, when I am pulling some awesome moves in Other M, I don't pretend it's a guy under there, just to make myself feel like a manly-man. Samus is a badass babe, and that's all there is to it.

Re: Talking Point: The Future of Metroid

@King_Boo That would be a really good idea. As I was reading the article, I kept thinking back to how much I would love to see something like that in a Metroid game.

@TwilightV I would totally want to play that game! What Wario-Ware game is that on? Twisted?

Anyway, I want any Metroid game they can throw out there. But, if I had to prefer a type of Metroid game, I would most want a Other M style game (like EVERYBODY else here) or a 2.5D one (they're tied), then an FPS.

Re: Review: Metroid Prime (GameCube)

SuperLink

@The_Fox No, it IS shocking no one has reviewed this yet.

Anyway, this game is one of the greats. It was my first FPS. All I can say is this game is amazing, and I'd pop it in any day. If you have not played this game yet, you need to now.

Re: Talking Point: Your 25 Years of Metroid Memories

SuperLink

My first Metroid game, like many others, was Metroid Fusion. At the time, I thought "this is just some game...". Little did I know that it was one of the best games of one of Nintendo's best series. Anyway, it blew my freaking head off, it was so awesome. The gameplay and graphics set the bar really high for other video games I would play later in life. SA-X was the scariest thing in that game, knowing it could take me out with a glance. Running away from that thing got my heart pumping and filled my heart with fear. It. Was. Amazing.

Although, because Metroid Fusion was the first Metroid game I've ever played, it has kind of, subconciously, screwed with my mind. Now, take note, I was young, and did not care much for "storyline" or "dialogue" at the time, so that was a contributing factor to my confusion. Anyway, seeing that the main bad guy was the one in the orange suit (SA-X), and the good guy was in the blue/purple suit (Samus), that stuck in my mind. What I mean is, from that moment on, in my mind, the blue suit was good, and the orange suit was bad, which really confused me when I went into EB Games (now Gamestop) and saw other Metroid games with the orange guy on the front. I said to myself, "whoa, whoa, whoa...HE'S THE BAD GUY!!! What's HE doing on the cover?" The answer come many years later when I ventured into other Metroid games, but that is a different story.

Another thing about Metroid Fusion was, when I died, I saw the suit explode, and there was a person. Was it a girl in a bikini with long, blonde hair? Or, was it a guy with long blonde "rockstar" hair? With my mind locked on main characters in video games being male, I went the "It's-a-rockstar-warrior" idea. Boy, was I wrong. Much like the orange suit bad guy thing, my realization of a FEMALE protangonist made me drop my jaw in awe.

Now, there were many other things about Metroid Fusion which got me hooked to the series, like the "Evacuation-bomb-self-destruct" timer, which got my heart racing to unbelievable speeds, or the finding of power-ups, which made me feel like I was on top of the world. All of these things remind me of my ideal video game. From 2D sidescroller-platforming, to first-person-shooting, to 3D aerial views, the Metoird series has always provided a fast-paced thrill ride adventure. So the next time, I play a Metroid game, I know, I'll know to hurry up and collect, so I can see Samus in all of her bikini/zero-suit glory.

Happy Birthday Samus!

Re: Feature: The Future of Nintendo Gaming - 2D or Not 2D?

SuperLink

2D, because it is just something you can pick and play. You already know what to do, and there is no "special controls". It's sidescrolling 2D games that people love and know as some of the first games they were ever able to play, like Super Mario Brothers.

2D will live as long as time itself.

Re: If Fans Speak Up, Majora's Mask 3DS Might Happen

SuperLink

As much as I love Majora's Mask, I'd much rather have a collection of remakes (consisting of The Legend of Zelda, Link's Adventure, and A Link to the Past). Either that or Wind Waker on the 3DS. Yeah, either of those would be good for me.

SuperLink

@MechaPhoenix Wow, I didn't need nightmares tonight, but thanks for that disturbing image anyway.

Anyway, I'm very excited to see what goes into the making of the Master Sword that makes it so powerful. That cutscene better be just jaw-dropping in how the most powerful weapon in the world is being built, right there.

@Yogsoggoth You make a good point.

Re: Mega Man Legends 3 Cancelled

SuperLink

I feel like I just got blasted in the face with a mega buster.

It burns. Thanks Capcom, you burned me.

@skyotek That scene from WWatCF always kinda freaked me out, but then I watched it here, I cracked up so much, realizing it was now being used in the perfect situation for it.

Re: Paper Mario

SuperLink

Can't wait. Paper Mario is my favorite series of all time. The dialogue is the most creative and witty I've ever seen in a video game. TTYD is the best in the series so far.

Re: Pokémon Black and White

SuperLink

So, you know that one pokémon in the Celestial Tower. The psychic type called Elgyem? Well, stop for a minute and think about it. Break that word apart in three pieces and pronounce those pieces on their own. El-gy-em. El-gy-em. EL-GY-EM! L-G-M!!! "Little Green Men". As in the small space alien toys (which are called "LGMs") from Toy Story. Why? Because the Elgyems look like aliens what with their big green heads!!! Both the LGMs and the Elgyems are green alien-like creatures! It's a reference to TOY STORY!!!!!!!! I'm onto something BIG here!

I'm sorry, but I must say (at the risk of being "text-screamed-at") that Megaman 8 is one of my favorite Megaman games. I mean, other than the voice acting and the anime scenes, was it really THAT bad?

...anyway, I'm gonna go hide under a rock now...

Re: These Are Your Club Nintendo Elite Rewards

SuperLink

Just ordered my pins.

I rather would have gotten that Super Fiacom controller that the UK got. That would have been better than pins.

Unfortunately, this was my first year in Club Nintendo, and I kinda tapped out my entire Wii, DS and Gamecube collection to get where I am now...I probably won't be able to get Platinum OR Gold for next year. Sigh...

How can you say that Hyrule field was BLAND? There's not a better feeling than just running around with Epona across the vast and wonderous Hyrule field. Plus, you get to shoot poes, collect rupees, bomb holes in the ground for secret rooms, attack peahats, jump over fences, and attack stalchildren (at night, that is). Not to mention, Hyrule field is gorgeous! It's like a center gateway to all of the other lands that you journey across.
