Re: Review: Orion's Odyssey (DSiWare)

I was going to put in some money for the Kickstarter, but I didn't because they wasn't any 100% confirmation that it wouldn't be released in PAL regions. Seeing that there still isn't a confirmed date, maybe I made the right decision. But if this does come out in the UK at some point, I'll pick it up day one.

Re: Wii U "More Than Capable" Of Providing The Core Project CARS Experience, Says Developer

If what he is saying is true, it'll be great to see a third party actually putting effort into the Wii U versions of multiplat games. The reason that the Wii U has been struggling with framerates and textures with games such as ACIV is because the developers are simply not optimizing the game for the system. Of course the Wii U version of Project CARS won't look as good as the PS4 and Xbone versions, and definitely not the PC version, but with actual effort it'll be just as playable, and maybe the best overall version with the gamepad's features.

Re: Rosalina, Baby Characters, New Courses And Unique Rides All Confirmed For Mario Kart 8

I'm OK with Baby Mario, Luigi and Peach because they were characters which were established before Mario Kart Wii came out. But Baby Daisy is a giant waste of a slot who was solely created just to be in the game, when there are plenty of much more deserving light characters like E. Gadd and Toadsworth. If it wasn't for the big roster this game will presumably have, she would be a bigger waste than Honey Queen was, and I despise Honey Queen.

Pointless ranting aside, this game looks fantastic and I can't wait to play it! But where are these UFOs, and the buggies look like regular karts to be.

Re: Extended Nintendo Network System Maintenance Scheduled for 9th December

The fact that the Wii U Miiverse isn't being affected by this makes me doubt its the Miiverse update. Since it affects all of the shop services, maybe its combining all of the shops into one like PSN and adding NNID to Wii, DSi and 3DS? I highly doubt it though, and I think its just general maintenance to be honest. Nothing to see here...

Re: Black Friday Madness Arrives in the UK, Too

Its also worth noting that the Amazon deals are going on all this week. That Mario Kart 7 3DS was also there on Monday I think (it was £130 then, amazing deal), and there was a Premium Wii with Rayman Legends and Lego City for £200 yesterday. There are also going to be deals on Saturday and Sunday as well.

And I just realsied I sound like a Amazon sales rep...

Re: Pokémon X & Y Online Battles Vulnerable to "Battle Analyser" Cheaters

SubBronze

I am honestly indifferent to people hacking the game to create Pokemon, as long as it would be possible in-game to raise the Pokemon that way, which was common in generations 4 and 5, but this is completely wrong. This gives the hacker way too much of an advantage in a battle, as just every Pokemon has multiple viable stat spreads, attacks and items, and a big aspect of competitive battling is to discover what 'set-up' the opponent is using.

I hope GameFreak comes down on this hard and as quickly as possible.

Re: iPhone Gaming Controller Could Mean "The End Of Nintendo", Claims Investment Site

SubBronze

Even if Apple release a official gaming controller, the install base for it is going to be so small that developers won't bother spending resources to make their games compatible. This device takes away the functionally of being a phone by sticking an extra inch of plastic to end of the speaker and receiver, how comfortable is that going to be? How stupid is it going to look?

Anyway, Android has been doing this for years, and so far Nintendo isn't dead, or has shown any signs of real signs of dying because of Android controllers. And Android is in 80% of the phones sold. The Motley Fool's name really does speak of itself.

Re: Rumour: Hacker Unlocks Three New Legendary Pokémon in X & Y

SubBronze

@Pinkman Those wouldn't be the actual levels they appear at. By the looks of things he hacked the game and replaced some random Pokemon's IDs in Santalune Forest with the IDs of these new legendries to force the game to make them appear, like people did through Action Replay before. If the actual conditions to encounter them were known, they would have most likely have released that information as well.

Plus, this guy has already released the Mew model, as well as Mega Latias and Latios. If they were fake, he would have a awful lot of time on his hands to make all these screenshots look so genuine.

Re: Nintendo Disables Swapnote's SpotPass Service Due to Online Safety Concerns

SubBronze

This is exactly why Nintendo needs a universal account system. There is simply no acceptable excuse for having to delete an entire service because some people were breaking the terms and conditions. If this was Sony or Microsoft, they would have just banned the use of online services temporarily or permanently depending on the severity of the case. Those companies have had account systems for years, and this just shows how far behind the times Nintendo really is in the video game industry.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Clarifies That Local Multiplayer is Still the Priority for Mario

SubBronze

While I do agree that local multiplayer is one of the best things about first party Nintendo, I have to say that their refusal to put in online in many of their games, which has been a staple since the PS2 days, does show how behind the times they are compared to other developers.

Nothing beats the living-room experience with friends, but I know for a fact I would have enjoyed NSMBWii a lot more if I could play it online with friends, and I probably wouldn't have sold it.

We have in-game voice chat and Skype which can replicate the living room experience well. It is very hard for some people to have local co-op due to busy schedules or simply living too far away. And their are games which have online co-op which make no sense whatsoever like Dead Rising. Nintendo need to catch up with the times if they want to remain relevant.

Re: Batman: Arkham Origins and Blackgate Delayed in Europe

SubBronze

@unrandomsam
I doubt a two week delay is going to make any difference in how well the game runs. The game will do just as well on PC as previous entries because of the PC's huge install base. The Wii U has an extremely small one, so any reason for someone to buy the same game on another console is crippling for its success on the Wii U.

Re: Microsoft Wants You To Know That Its Surface Tablet Can Play SNES Games

SubBronze

If Nintendo doesn't perform some sort of legal action for this, I would actually be disappointed. Nintendo sees Microsoft as a serious competitor to them in the home console market (unlike Ouya, which I assume all the big three have just shrugged off). Microsoft is literally endorsing copyright infringement of one of its two major competitors, and that is simply unacceptable.
