Like I've said before, I'm a hard copy kinda guy, so this doesn't concern me. But, this really shouldn't deter people who are download minded from picking this up. You should've known when you got your Wii U, 8 GB or 32 GB, that you'd need an external. Up to 2TB of space is allowed for along with the built in storage space.

@MegaManEP3 Yeah. The whole operation seems much better run this time around. Also, I wouldn't mind getting the game when it comes out and getting some bonus content for $20.

The eShop is really great. One of the best components of the Wii U. It's full of very good titles, it enables you to download retail games, and it provides the best variety of retro titles on the market. It would behoove Nintendo to focus on quality over quantity in the eShop. Nintendo quality is what sells Nintendo consoles.

@ThomasBW84 Glad to hear I'm not the only one, haha. I remember being told about it when I was picking up my Wii U on launch morning at Gamestop, but I just completely forgot about it.

I just now realized (thanks to this story) that since I have a deluxe set, I can log into the Deluxe Digital site and get discount codes. Derp. Oh well, time to cash in!

I'll use this promotion since I was going to put $50 in anyway. I wanted to snag Puddle and other VC titles I have missed out on so far.

Also, I don't like buying retail games on the eShop. I like buying those in hard copies. Then again, I have about 500 CD's as well. I guess I'm just an old school collector.

I'll be picking this up on the 4th! Got it paid off and everything. Super excited.

I'm assuming that EarthBound is $9.99 instead of $7.99 because of the licensing hassles that Nintendo had to go through in order to put it on sale. I don't think $2 is that big of a deal...

Kinda broke right now, but I think I have enough money to snatch up Puddle while it's on price cut. I'll get Earthbound, Metroid, and maybe some other next weekend after I get paid.

I guess it wouldn't affect me even if it was in North America. I'm getting W101 in physical copy along with Pikmin 3.

This was good! The surprise element of this will generate some buzz around the net. Good stuff in this Direct.

Also, it seems even more likely to me now that we'll see a Nintendo Direct in either late August or early September.

I will disagree with you saying that Mario Kart 8 didn't look inventive enough. I thought it was the highlight of the Nintendo Direct, and the anti-gravity elements looked amazing.

More or less, I agree with everything you said here, except the Mario Kart bit. I have a gaming PC, and it's amazing how I can play at least like 80% of the big titles that are on the Sony and Microsoft consoles on the PC.

Question: Do I need to play the previous games in the series before playing this one?

@Subie98 I know how many games there are in the series. All I meant is that I have the first 2 on my friends 360, so I'm going to play those to see if I like the series before diving into it further.

This game LOOKS AMAZING. I stand by my earlier predictions that this game will be the sneak masterpiece and hit of the holiday season.

I need to play the first 2 AC games, then decide if I want this one.

I got it yesterday for $0.30. Solid stuff. Similar to Yoshi, worth it for the sale price, but I don't think worth it for $4.99.

It's not an either or situation. If you're struggling or in a rough spot, you aren't necessarily failing.

I will simply continue to urge patience both with Nintendo fans and with the gaming public at large.

There are two groups of people that are really irritating me right now. They're on opposite ends of the spectrum:

1. The "OMG, Wii U doesn't have enough shooters and is having a rough time right therefore Nintendo is doomed and if you think they can get out of the predicament they're in, then you're delusional."

2. Nintendo is fine! I'll ignore all the bad reports because I love Nintendo!

There's a lot more of the 1st kind than the 2nd, but both are aggravating.

Yes, Nintendo has made a bunch of mistakes so far with the Wii U. Does that mean that it's dead? Not at all. Let Nintendo adjust and bring out their big games, THEN pass judgment on the console.

@Kirk This is certainly something to keep in mind.

My take on what's going on with Wii U right now is this:

I don't know why anyone would have thought that Wii U sales would have increased this spring/summer. Nothing has changed since sales have decreased after January. Until big games come out, most people see reason to pay any attention to Wii U.

I assume that once Pikmin 3 comes out, more hardcore gamers will start looking at Wii U, and once all the big titles this holiday come out, the casual crowd and more gamers in general will get Wii U's.

That said, I believe that something needs to be done to spur sales to be able to compete with the PS4 and XBone during the holiday. I think that the Basic Set should be completely done away with (looks like that is starting to happen) and the deluxe set should be reduced to just $300.

You don't have to win the sales numbers battle to be successful every generation. Just focus on making good games, and selling them and your console at a competitive price, and you'll be profitable.

There haven't been any big game releases yet. Once Pikmin 3 comes out, sales will start to increase, and once we hit the holiday season, they will increase dramatically.

@WaveBoy I want a game where you play as Rebecca again. I loved RE:0. I can't stand this new action oriented, "let's try to please everyone, end up pleasing no one" kind of game design. RE4 was amazing, but it's been all down hill from there, with the exception of Revelations.

I want some straight up, can't find any ammo survival horror, dangit!

I wonder if they'll reveal Resident Evil 7...

I had added a bunch of eShop titles since the last update, and my Wii U was starting to run kinda slowly. It would also crash in the Netflix channel, but that seems to have been rectified with this update.

Can't wait for the big one!

Keep in mind that Wii U will be running very smoothly AND have a solid library of games AND have backwards compatibility AND have the best selection of retro titles on the market AND be the cheapest AND have the biggest, best exclusives by the time XBone and PS4 come out. If consumers don't like that, then I don't know what's wrong with them.

@ ThomasBW84: Thanks. This is just an area of Nintendo news that I haven't paid much attention to, so I didn't know what the situation with Fire Emblem was on Wii U.

@ ramstrong: Might have been Steel Diver... Regardless, he makes great games. I'm excited for anything he makes.

Ok. So, this title IS coming to Wii U in the West, correct? Whereas we don't know if we'll get a stand alone Fire Emblem for Wii U?

How on Earth is the 3DS on the decline? I know that we throw around the term "these people/this person doesn't know what they/him/her are talking about," but this group REALLY doesn't know what they're talking.

I LOVE Pikmin. Almost done with the first one, and will play the second one quickly before 3 comes out. Very excited. Pikmin has to be one of the most unique games ever made.

Pikmin is the perfect example of why Nintendo understands the POWER of interactive entertainment and gaming. They understand the unique experiences that you can have.

I would also caution people to try to previous two games before pre-ordering Pikmin 3 if they haven't played them before... The game can be MADDENING. Like, other than Trine 2, I have never been so PO'd at a game before. That said, something tells me that Pikmin 3 will be one of the greatest games of this generation, once we see the reviews, if they're awesome, then I'd advise people to get it.

@Samurairu Absolutely. In the case of Mass Effect 3, it should've been released as a package with all 3 Mass Effect titles with the best graphics they could squeeze out of the system so that Nintendo gamers (like me) who didn't play the series, would have a lot of incentive to get into it.

Alternatively, people could wait to see how the game is on Wii U before they tear it to pieces.

@Grubdog Metroid Prime is my favorite game of all time and I think it holds up better than any other game from it's generation.

I'll be getting Metroid. Hard as everything, but a classic!

7/10, maybe 7.5/10. I enjoyed the multiplayer a fair amount, and the flight missions were still really good. I enjoyed the Endor AT-ST mission a lot, too. Too harsh of a score!

I just bought Mighty Switch Force last week... Sigh...

ZombiU used the Gamepad beautifully. I was a skeptic about how it would work all the way through when the console came out, but then I got ZombiU. What an incredible use of the Gamepad. It was marvelous.

Like the interview, and he makes a lot of good points in favor of Wii U.
