Re: Wii U Turned Ubisoft On To Second-Screen Gaming, But Isn't The Focus Moving Forward

SkywardCrowbar

I love the second screen experience. I was apprehensive when I first got it, but I picked it up quickly. I LOVE playing games in bed.

Strangely enough, I think most people (myself included) would agree that ZombiU was the best use of the Gamepad to date, and that game sold well and is probably getting a sequel if Ubi doesn't completely abandon Nintendo. Ubi should see the benefits of the second screen and of supporting Nintendo and stay on board.

@GamerJunkie Please, keep your "there's no women gamers" crap out of here. Keep your misogyny to yourself.

Also, I'm not exactly a casual gamer. I've played easily over a hundred games in my life. My favorite game is Metroid Prime. Is that a casual title?

I love Game & Wario, and I'm a hardcore gamer. You're just an elitist troll.

@Dr_42o How is a 63 on Metacritic fail? The game has 2 challenges facing it from the get go from reviewers:

1. Mini game compilations can suffer from not being taken seriously enough to warrant good scores by a lot of reviewers. If it's not a freaking M rated shooter, than a lot of reviewers (and gamers) will pass it over.

2. There are crap reviewers out there like IGN (sorry to see Aminka go. Hope she's doing great at the Big N! She was the only contributor on the whole site I had any respect for) who clearly payed very little attention to the game. Evidenced by the fact that they published a review stating that there are 12 mini games, when there are in fact 16.

EDIT: The game actually now has a 63 on Metacritic.

Re: Review: Game & Wario (Wii U)

@Erica_Hartmann The game was developed by Nintendo Software Planning & Development along with Intelligent Systems, and it uses a Nintendo IP in Wario, so I think it's fair enough to call it a first party game.

Perhaps I should've just said that Nintendo IP's aren't ever bad, but I was pre-occupied at the time. Sorry for any confusion.

Re: Review: Game & Wario (Wii U)

@GearsOfWarU What makes it look like shovelware? This is a solid entry in a solid series of quirky mini game titles. Do you assume that all mini game titles are shovelware?

Barbie games are shovelware. First party Nintendo titles are most certainly not.

I'm getting both Game & Wario (already paid off at Gamestop) and Super Luigi U in physical copy form. I would like to snatch up Little Inferno for just five bucks... I'll have to do some financial gymnastics to pull that off, though. Lol.

I really wish I could put just $5 in my account. Nintendo, get on that!

If you don't think that Team Fortress 2 is a great game, then I don't know what you classify as a great game.

As for Pokemon? The main games should remain on the handhelds. They are better suited to that hardware. Other titles like the Poke Park series are fine on home consoles, but we don't need the main games on home consoles.

Re: Impressions: The Best Buy "Nintendo Experience"

I went with my fiancee and one of my friends to the Mall of Georgia location. Massive number of people! Our wait was almost 2 hours. We played Donkey Kong, it was awesome.

The great thing about it was that it wasn't just all Nintendo fanboys there. There were a fair amount of parents with their young kids looking into buying a Wii U there as well.

Overall, it went well. Lots of excitement for Nintendo.

Re: Sacrilegium

The website looks like it hasn't been updated in forever, but I see no Wii U logo in the supported platforms list at the bottom... IDK if that's because it hasn't been updated to include Wii U, or if it's because it's been cancelled for Wii U.

Re: Wolfenstein: The New Order Looks Set To Skip Wii U

SkywardCrowbar

@ Caryslan: People are PO'd about Rage because of the PC version. id is a company famous for making great PC games, and the PC version of their newest IP was almost unplayable. The game itself, if you can play it, is very good. I wouldn't say it's as good as DOOM 3, but it's a good shooter and is, like you said, a unique outing in the FPS realm.

The PC version was just a fiasco, and now Rage 2 has been killed off by Bethesda, so we may never see where that promising IP could have gone.

Re: Wolfenstein: The New Order Looks Set To Skip Wii U

SkywardCrowbar

@PS4WiiU Umm... I'm speaking the truth. I'm a huge DOOM and Quake fan. I play those games constantly. The last title that id made that was really good was DOOM 3 which was a masterpiece that was overlooked because of Half-Life 2 coming at the same year. Ever since they've been taken over by Bethesda, they've made inferior titles. Look at Rage, look them having to reboot DOOM 4 because they were being pressured by their parent company to make a CoD rip off.

If there's one developer that I know other than Nintendo, it's id. So please check your Sony fanboy at the door before you come in with some misguided remark.

Re: First Impressions: Super Mario 3D World

SkywardCrowbar

2 things:

1. This game will be amazing. Keep in mind, a lot of the really unique and challenging and weird stuff starts going on in later levels in Mario titles. Don't assume that it's all the same old same old just based on the first level.

2. I firmly believe that Super Mario Universe is indeed coming. Perhaps in 2015. I think that Nintendo knows that they need another insanely unique and new Mario title for the Wii U. Even though 3D World looks great, it's probably not the pinnacle of what Mario can be on the Wii U.

Just as an aside, I also predict a New Super Mario Bros. U 2 coming out for next Christmas.

Re: Nintendo Reveal Why Its 3D Mario Title Isn't Super Mario Galaxy 3

SkywardCrowbar

I think this game is going to be killer, and outside of the echo chamber of hardcore Nintendo fans and gamers, this new Mario game will be extremely appealing. This game and Donkey Kong and Wii Fit U and Wii Party U will draw in mainstream and casual gamers in droves this holiday season.

I feel like this game and Donkey Kong were both mostly marketing and financial decisions. Not in that they're shovel ware or bad games, but in that they're simpler games than something like a Galaxy and they will attract tons of new customers while still be top tier titles that we all expect from Nintendo.

Re: Retro Chose Donkey Kong Over Metroid as Its First Wii U Title

SkywardCrowbar

@Magolor Metroid Prime lays Uncharted to waste. Prime is, IMO, the single greatest game ever made.

I couldn't handle Team Ninja making a new Metroid. They BUTCHERED Other M. That was an abortion. Disrespectful to the fanbase, misogynistic, and just not a good game. Retro or Nintendo needs to make the new Metroid.

Re: Super Mario 3D World Coming To Wii U This December

SkywardCrowbar

I don't get the hate for this title. I just don't.

I guarantee you we'll get an open world Mario game at some point for the Wii U. This game is going to be great, though. It'll be appealing to casual fans, and they'll buy the system. That's what we need right now, great games and system sales.
