Re: Don't Panic, Valve Has Already Resolved Steam Deck's Supposed Switch-Like "Drift" Issues

Sanjithechef

@Dirty0814 I disagree. I guarantee 80% of the switch library can be found on PC/Steam, not to mention games commonly associated with Switch like Monster Hunter Rise or Hades. Regardless of whether support continues or not (and I think it will) it’s a computer. Youll be buying a gaming computer for 400-600. It runs many newer AAA games and indies. PC and specifically steam represents a massive library. It isn’t just old mouse and keyboard games (which btw you can play as intended if hooked up to a monitor with peripherals), we’re talking about the potential to see it running every game from God of War to Final Fantasy XIV to Hades to Forza Horizon 5. The switch is a great console, but other consoles can have the potential to be great too.

@Rika_Yoshitake the entire system is built around a manufacturing system with Ifixit to replace parts very easily (if you are hardware savvy) - that includes the joystick due to it's right to repair. In order words, you can buy the joystick directly from Valve/Ifixit it seems, and repair yourself / find someone to do it for you. I'm sure plenty of tutorial videos will be made on top of the many tear downs already seen.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Of Valve's Steam Deck Are In - What's It Like Compared To Switch?

Sanjithechef

Lmao some of the comments talking about PC games not running well at launch (as if Switch ports haven’t been trash as well) or how this is just another vita (being out done by the technically inferior Nintendo console).

Steams library is massive. And affordable. I love my switch and think Nintendo makes amazing games. However, the biased and misinformed comments are just funny. The steam deck does basically everything better than the switch except local multiplayer, lacking Nintendo exclusives, and not having an OLED screen. Gaming is an expensive hobby, but if you can afford both, appreciate both. Switch gamers go head over heels when old PC games are ported over and sold for $60 when you could buy a better version for $5-10 on PC. The reality is, the steam deck is doing a lot better than the switch, but the switch itself does many things the deck will never have. Both are great, but we can’t ignore the glaring truths/pros/cons about either one.

Re: Round Up: The Pokémon Legends: Arceus Reviews Are In

Sanjithechef

@Dringo good question. I personally think that any game/franchise can balance being accessible and fun, and challenging. Look at Super Mario Odyssey, Smash Bros Ultimate or even something like Animal Crossing. Simple games anyone can play, but so much depth that “hardcore gamers” have a lot to enjoy as well. Pokémon has so much to work with - from stats/abilities/types/etc to its wonderful world of Pokemon characters and locations. When not only graphics leave something to be desired, but the game itself is lacking in anything challenging or deep, we all kind of end up here: Hoping that this is the one that changes things. I love old Pokémon games, Soul Silver is my favourite, but recently they’ve been lacking a little, while mainline Mario and Zelda games have been GOTY contenders and Pokémon games are just fun ways to grind away, because Pokémon

I trust PC Mag. Compared to the BOTW's and the other great open world adventure or JRPG style games, PLA seems to be in the 7-8 range purely off of depth and challenge alone. It tries to appeal to kids and newcomers as much as it does long time Pokemon and video game fans - which means corners are cut and compromises are made. I just think it should be held to the standard of BOTW or Tales of Arise or Persona 5 - not the standard of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Sword lol

Re: Valve's Steam Deck Might Be The Closest We'll Get To A Switch Pro In 2021

Sanjithechef

Besides the switch controller layout and exclusive games, the steam deck is just better as far as game options go.

If you buy a game on sale on steam and own this + a real gaming pc, you really get the best of both worlds. The witcher 3 allowed switch players to use cross progression with pc, but you still needed to own both pc and switch versions. The witcher 3 on PC costs $7 at it's cheapest. We never see the witcher 3 go below $40 on switch.

All i know is that PC games are often very affordable, the library is enormous, and while the switch does have a lot more digital sales than we ever saw on 3ds or wii u, the switch tax does play a role on many games. Being able to play games I already owned on PC, and then continuing the save on desktop is a dream. and think about all the free games the epic game store has given us, but we still pay upwards of $20 for, such as Sonic Mania, night in the woods, hyper light drifter etc. Plus it has bluetooth. I just expected more from switch's upgrade, so this is a perfect time to appreciate the efforts of other companies.

Re: Roundup: Here's What Was Revealed In Nintendo Direct E3 2021

Sanjithechef

A lot of great announcements for all types of fans, so many great games coming. But I think the lack of any more virtual console additions, more gameplay for BOTW and other main titles was a little disappointing. Overall I loved the speed from game to game - no time wasted unlike other presentations lol.

Re: Nintendo's Offering 10% Gold Coin Rewards for Switch Online Subscriptions

Sanjithechef

meanwhile PS plus subscribers got the Final Fantasy 7 Remake in March and last month Xbox games with gold got Gears 5 and the RE 1 remaster.

I mean yes - nintendo online subscribers pay way less - it's just kinda sad they try to make $3-4 a big deal, while their games rarely ever cost less than $79 - nintendo really sometimes can be quite insulting lol

Re: Respawn Rolls Out Apex Legends Update, Includes "Several" Nintendo Switch Fixes

Sanjithechef

fantastic game if you play on another console/platform and learn the ins/outs of the mechanics and gameplay - the switch port is a work in progress, I'm sure it'll be more playable as more patches come along, I've seen low end PC graphics cards run Apex much better as seasons went by, so I'm sure stability will come to the switch in due time - grateful they even bothered putting money and resources into bringing it to switch

Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Normalise Giving Up On Games Early

Sanjithechef

so many comments haha awesome - hopefully someone reads this lol

i think it's important to differentiate between quitting without properly experiencing and simply not finishing/completing

for example:
1. Play though BOTW for hours on end and completing nearly all the main missions but simply not being able to or wanting to fight through Hyrule Castle

2. quit because you can't solve a puzzle before even facing the first divine beast

or giving up on a game that is otherwise very mechanically and narratively (is that a word?) good because it is too difficult for beginners. sometimes overcoming and mastering a game is part of the enjoyment and feeling of fulfilment

at the end of the day everyone has different ideas of fun, so just do you but don't forget to come back to those great games when you're in the mood to tackle it again, usually makes for good times when you overcome

Re: Review: Apex Legends - A Great Game Hamstrung By A Compromised Switch Port

Sanjithechef

@Kalmaro Apex is quite popular on the platforms it works as intended on - PC, PS4/PS5, and the Xbox Series consoles. Still very consistently played and streamed and viewed on YouTube, Twitch, etc. It's a really good game that unfortunately has not translated very well to Switch. But yeah, still very much alive and honestly thriving and loyal community

Re: Cloud Gaming Not A "Top Priority", But Nintendo Is "Always Researching Technologies"

Sanjithechef

My issue with cloud gaming is the amount of people it excludes. Among all switch users, I'm sure a lot do not have blazing fast internet speeds that can keep up - especially for the games that are required to be run externally because they are so demanding. Yes, it's really cool to be able to play a game like Control on your switch, but having to pay for a game that you can't really OWN (be it physical or digital) is definitely not ideal in my opinion.

I also think some people have a misunderstanding of what cloud gaming is referring to here in this article lol

Re: Apex Legends

Sanjithechef

@MedusaMadman77 there is nothing wrong with the game - it's a well crafted and designed FPS with a lot more personality and attention to detail than most shooters out there. Is it kind of difficult? yes - but, like most skill based games, it allows a lot of room for people to improve with teammates and enjoy the process while doing it. Also the devs seem very invested in the game and the online community is strong and from my experience, very kind and welcoming to new players

Re: Apex Legends' Switch Release Date Might Have Been Accidentally Revealed

Sanjithechef

@Razer I like to think that Respawn works pretty hard on their games and does their best to keep it updated/fair for it's community. I mean it's free to play, and the quality of gameplay/voice acting/gunplay/movement is top notch. It really is underrated but fantastic (kind of difficult to get into, which is why more people gravitate to Call of Duty I feel)
