Following on from a Switch listing for the latest Plants Vs. Zombies game, another EA game for Nintendo's hybrid system is now making headlines. This time it is Respawn Entertainment's free-to-play battle royale first-person shooter, Apex Legends.
It appears the game's release date for the Switch may have been revealed ahead of schedule - with a recent Japanese trailer for the game mentioning how this version would be launching on the same date as Season 8.
The eighth season of the game, in case you didn't know, will begin next month on 2nd February. Here is the translation:
As noted above, there's no mention of this in the English version of the video, and not long after this was discovered - all evidence of it was removed from the Japanese YouTube channel.
Apex Legends was originally due out on the Switch in 2020, until Respawn decided to delay the game last October. At the time, director Chad Grenier said the team wanted to do the Switch version "justice" - meaning it would need more development time.
"For those who game on the Nintendo Switch, we’re still hard at work on the port, but in order to do justice to the game and make it into the great experience Switch players deserve, our team needs more time. This year has brought on unexpected new challenges, to put it mildly, and we don’t want to rush anything out."
If Apex Legends is in fact coming out next month, it means an official announcement will be made within the coming weeks.

Thats cool I played the game a little bite on ps4 They look like they trid really hard to port it to the switch so I will be playing it.
Would rather have call of duty mobile on switch...
Kinda on the fence on this one.
On the one hand, it's a solid game that i would like to see on the Switch. (If it runs well).
On the other hand, I'm not entirely keen on supporting EA.
It’s a better game than Fortnite, mechanics wise, but I’m pretty burned out on the format.
I'm beginning to question the meaning of "accidentally". This seems to happen on a daily basis in the videogame industry.

@Razer I like to think that Respawn works pretty hard on their games and does their best to keep it updated/fair for it's community. I mean it's free to play, and the quality of gameplay/voice acting/gunplay/movement is top notch. It really is underrated but fantastic (kind of difficult to get into, which is why more people gravitate to Call of Duty I feel)

I've heard good things about this one, and I really like Titanfall 2, but I've actually never tried it out on PC.

I have zero confidence in this game. Mostly because of the way that developer laughed off any chance of Titanfall coming to Switch because it couldn't handle it.
In fact, now that I remember that...this game can do one!

@Tasuki nothing, but EA will claim that they aren’t developing for the Switch bc titles don’t sell fast enough to release more franchises.
@rockodoodle Well that's just stupid of them especially since Apex Legends is free. Selling has nothing to do with it.
@Tasuki free, yeah, but if users don't buy skins or bother to play? They are using all these releases as a barometer for future releases.
@rockodoodle Well that just dumb on their part. Apex Legends caters to a different crowd then Madden. I know people who will play and buy Madden but won't touch Apex Legend and vice versa. It would be like McDonalds saying Well you people don't like Tacos so we aren't going to open.anymore McDonalds.
@Tasuki ok, slight exaggeration on my part, but it would not surprise me if they used certain metrics on non related games to justify not making Madden on the Switch.
@rockodoodle Regardless companies aren't not going to force me to buy a game by holding other games hostage. I buy games that I want to play not because I want Madden to come to Switch. One reason I am a multi console gamer which in this day and age everyone should.
If EA refuses to put Madden on a Nintendo console so be it, I have an Xbox and PS4.
@Tasuki I hear ya. I have Xbox too. I just think a portable version would be really awesome.
I may have to finally get a new memory card or delete fortnite.
