Re: Review: Persona 3 Portable - A Fine Series Entry, Though One That's Tough To Return To

Rosu

@GameOtaku I forgot that full party control was not included with “P3 FES”… though I certainly remembered it wasn’t part of the original. But your reminder just reinforces (for me personally) that P3P was the best choice despite its own shortcomings… and per my earlier comment, the best way to bridge as much of the remaining gap as possible would’ve just been to add The Answer to P3P as a menu option (or to add it in the future!).

Re: Review: Persona 3 Portable - A Fine Series Entry, Though One That's Tough To Return To

Rosu

So I understand the decision to port P3P over FES, as though I lament the loss of the fully-navigable overworld, losing the FeMC would far more egregious, and neither the overworld nor the cutscenes were ever built to suit her inclusion…

… what I can’t help but wonder is why The Answer (the LENGTHY epilogue that is exclusive to FES) wasn’t announced as DLC (free or paid) that could simply being appended to P3P as a new menu option?

I realize that some of the story elements aren’t fully harmonized between P3P and The Answer, but that’s easily resolved via a splash page disclaimer, and moreover that’s never stopped Atlus before (e.g. “Persona 5 Scramble” is an extension of base “Persona 5” rather than “P5 Royal”).

Maybe what we should do is start asking Altus to add The Answer as DLC? That would be the best compromise possible at this point short of a full remake, or at least so I believe.

Re: Nintendo Direct To Air Tomorrow, Wednesday 13th February

Rosu

Please, oh please, “Persona 5” Switch. I’m about 50 hours into the PS4 version, having bought it on release day and playing it in 10-12 hour bursts before checking out other titles for awhile (e.g. “God of War” and myriad other great PS4 exclusives released in the interim)... but with that playtime representing just halfway completion of the story, I’d restart on Switch in a heartbeat!

It’s just so much easier to play Switch without disrupting the ability of others in my family to enjoy the living room television; that’s true of the Vita too, of course, but Switch can be played elsewhere too without relying upon an internet connection!

I can’t imagine a better format than Switch for busy adults/parents who would love to complete a 100-plus-hour game like “Persona 5.”

Re: Review: Code Of Princess EX (Switch)

Rosu

I’m with those who won’t consider a purchase without the English voiceover. Regardless of rights issues, the removal of features for ANY re-release or remaster is always a dealbreaker for me; I think it’s poor form to ask consumers to pay the same, or more, for what is ultimately less. Nintendo Life, please let us know if the English voice work arrives via patch!

Re: Explore The Hand-Drawn World Of Hollow Knight Right Now On Switch

Rosu

After sooooo long — YES!!!!! I have already made my purchase and I’m downloading “Hollow Knight” now over my (agonizingly slow) work wi-if so that it’a ready as soon as I get off for the day.

@Fake-E-Lee You and I have been in the same boat... I may have mentioned this to you before, but I don’t use social media of any kind, and yet I have spent the last year looking at Team Cherry’s Twitter (plus about six months since last fall bouncing between there and Airship Syndicate’s Twitter Page while waiting on “Battle Chasers”).

@DragonbornRito Nice tip! If this trick allows more people who couldn’t buy the game at full price in their own region to grab a copy, then that’s awesome, and no judgment from me whatsoever; however, in my case I know that “Hollow Knight’s” gameplay-content-to-sticker-price ratio is already incredibly generous, so I didn’t hesitate for one second to drop $14.99 USD so that Team Cherry’s effort is rewarded as best I can manage.

Re: E3 2018: What Do You Want To See From Nintendo At E3?

Rosu

...though I’d welcome “Shin Megami Tensei V” gameplay and would probably keel over if a “Persona 5” Switch port was announced in the vein of “Persona 4 Golden” (R.I.P. Vita... I’ll keep playing you until you break, but in many ways the Switch is your spiritual successor).

Re: Nintendo Download: 24th May (North America)

Rosu

@Fake-E-Lee Hey dude, did you by any chance grab “Dungeon Rushers?” If so, is the actual combat similar to “Battle Chasers,” which I am LOVING (seriously LOVING), but am moving through way too quickly for my comfort?

Re: New Castle Of Heart Update Includes Revamped Tutorial And Improved Animations

Rosu

@Shiryu — thank you, so very sincerely, for the effort you made to connect @7Levels to folks here in the Nintendo Life forums back in March. “The proof is in the pudding,” so to speak, as the update they released today is fantastic — and I’m not sure early adopters would have known how to reach them, much less how genuinely open they were to our feedback, without you making the original connection. Thanks again.

Re: New Castle Of Heart Update Includes Revamped Tutorial And Improved Animations

Rosu

I just want to chime in here to confirm, like @Fake-E-Lee before me, that having spent several hours playing the updated version, I can gladly say that “Castle of Heart” now consistently delivers the quality experience that I fell in love with while playing the first five stages (i.e. all of Chapter I) upon initial purchase.

@OorWullie, @AJ81, @JJ286, @AcridSkull, @Indienapolis, @bluedogrulez, @Agent721, @FlashBoomerang, @Daftbomb, @Romeo-75, @Flowerlark, @BenGrimm — in short: if you’ve been on the fence, now is the time to invest, especially as a means of reinforcing for developers like @7Levels that there IS both community goodwill and a fiscal return for those who pause to listen to their fans and invest the time and resources needed to calibrate the experience to near-perfection. I can assure all of you that, as someone who posted extensively on the original review page here, practically everything that caused me to give up the game after starting Chapter 2 has been addressed — including a host of quality-of-life improvements that I didn’t even know I wanted, but am thrilled to see in place!

@RagManX I totally understand your thinking, so please let me confirm that the easy mode they've introduced absolutely represents a casual play option. In fact, after playing enough of Normal mode to convince myself I could speak fairly about its adjustments, I personally switched to “easy” because — though I am a “Soulsborne” fan going all the way back to “Demon’s Souls,” an English-supported version of which I imported from Play-Asia before a U.S. edition was even announced — I did not at all approach “Castle of Heart” out of desire for difficulty. Easy mode is a perfect fit for what I personally want from it and I believe you will feel the same.

@chtan69 The life-sapping mechanic is still there, but it has been ratcheted down (“nerfed”) so significantly that it almost might as well not exist. For example, I previously could not pause to look for heart pieces (purple gems) in any stage from 2-2 forward due to this mechanic, but I’ve now had no issue exploring at leisure after clearing enemies from a section where I am convinced that gem has been hidden.

@Diablo2 Yes indeed — while I personally did not mind them, the “floatyness” (also described in several places, errantly I believe, as “input delay”) hasn’t been completely addressed.

Re: Review: Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition (Switch)

Rosu

I have a feeling that the fourth paragraph answers my question, but I’d like to ask those familiar with the game: is there enough nuance here for a massive “Zelda” fan to enjoy this title if he admits up front that “Fire Emblem Warriors” (which I bought upon release) did not impress enough to avoid becoming high-value trade fodder when a more desirable release came along?

Honestly, the aspect of “Fire a Emblem Warriors” that grated on me most was the dialogue. I have watched a fair share of more widely known anime series (“Death Note,” “Attack on Titan,” etc.), but tend to prefer English dubs, and the shrill, repetitive voice work in “Fire Emblem Warriors” kinda made me dread playing it (I feel really bad for saying that, but it’s true!).

Is “Hyrule Warriors” different? This review makes the boss fights sound intriguing by comparison to the more standard rock-paper-scissors approach that “Fire Emblem Warriors” took, but I just don’t think I can handle another barrage of repetitive, cringeworthy dialogue on top of the elements of repetition that are otherwise inherent to the “Warriors” series (to which I am admittedly a relative outsider). I do wish to like this game and want to feel like the experience will be different enough with a “Zelda” coat of paint since that series is not especially dialogue-heavy (at least in terms of voice acting)... I’m just not sure.

Re: Review: Battle Chasers: Nightwar (Switch)

Rosu

I have played for about 90 minutes so far and can confirm gladly that this game is FANTASTIC. The general Switch performance is just fine; the load times when leaving or entering the overworld are noticeable, but hardly distressing; the animation, music and graphical fidelity (even in handheld) is really great. In other words, trust this review here at Nintendo Life and ignore what others seem to be suggesting in a few other places to suggest that this port is in any way faulty. My experience thus far suggests only quality, and it’s becoming immediately clear that it has been FAR too long since I played a classic JRPG... thank God for this game!!

Re: Review: Super Chariot (Switch)

Rosu

@Fake-E-Lee Didn’t you grab this one last week? I guess with “Battle Chasers” and “Strange Journey Tedux” arriving this week I don’t really need another game, but this review seems quite positive.

Re: Review: Battle Chasers: Nightwar (Switch)

Rosu

I am insanely jazzed to play this game tomorrow once it arrives in the mail. “Battle Chasers” and “Hollow Knight” are my two most anticipated Switch releases this year, and I’m okay with the fact that neither are native to this platform (though I also mean no insult to Nintendo’s first-party lineup).

@Fake-E-Lee Are you going to be able to tear yourself away from your many purchases last week??? (Trust me — I may have only bought one title last week, but my backlog proves I have NO room to talk at all). I am sure I’ll still do a run or three of “Immortal Redneck” every other day or so, as that game is EXCELLENT, but I expect “Battle Chasers” will be my new main.

@OfNullAndVoid — @finalstan is correct. That said, the story of the game is completely accessible to anyone who has not yet read the comics, as Joe Mad and Co. are keenly aware that a good portion of the audience for this game had not yet even been born in 1998 (sadly not true for me — I was already in my early teens!).

All told, I do highly recommend the comic books to anyone interested!!! They take place in a self-contained universe, and — Red Monika’s excessive, blush-inducing design aside — the characters and creatures who appear throughout the series are very cool. Anyone who digs the steampunk design elements (and is willing to trade fantasy for a Neo-Victorian setting) should also check out a more recent series called “Lady Mechnika” from Joe Benitez (plus co-penciler Martin Montiel and co-writer M.M. Chen).

Re: Feature: Hollow Knight On Switch "At The Finish Line" Says Developer Team Cherry

Rosu

@Fake-E-Lee, @jcvandan I am right there with the two of you. I look forward to “Dark Souls” despite having previously played it to finish on PS3, but I CAN’T WAIT for “Hollow Knight” and practically broke my finger when tapping this article at the speed of light.

The only thing I hope here is that a physical release does not delay the digital release — I’d much rather double-dip than wait any longer when I KNOW that this is a game where the asking-price-to-content ratio leans far, far toward the player’s favor.

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th May (North America)

Rosu

Hey everyone, for those who (like me!) grabbed “Immortal Redneck” today: what are you finding is the “sweet spot” for overall sensitivity and motion x/y axis settings when utilizing gyro controls for aiming?

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th May (North America)

Rosu

I am getting both “Battle Chasers” and “Strange Journey Redux” next week, and will download “Immortal Redneck” after work today.

@Fake-E-Lee, we seem to like all of the same things, so I’m wondering if you have started “Immortal Redneck” yet?

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

Rosu

@7Levels Hey guys, I just wanted to express one more thanks for your commitment to fans and the time you’ve invested in communicating with fans like me here and elsewhere. I look forward to whatever the future holds for “Castle of Heart” and wish your team the very best for this project and anything else you release down the road.

Re: Nintendo Download: 5th April (North America)

Rosu

@sketchturner Hey, thanks! I am not familiar with “Redonk” as a YouTube personality, but I Googled and watched that same review after reading your comment and I think he did a good job of showing “Infernium’s” core gameplay and talking about what works well.

Despite having incredibly fond memories of “Silent Hill: Shattered Memories,” I have strongly mixed feelings about cat-and-mouse gameplay, which is the only real reason I have (at least thus far) ignored “Outlast 2” (I may be mistaken, but it seems to eschew puzzles and inventory management for more action-focused gameplay); Redonk makes it sound like there are long stretches of puzzle-solving gameplay in “Infernium” that go a long way to ensure you don’t (to loosely quote a line from the review) “end up running all the time” — which is what it SEEMS like you do in “Outlast 2.”

With today’s news that “Battle Chasers,” my next anticipated time-sink, is still a month-and-some away, I might just give this one a go!

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

Rosu

@7Levels Thank you again for your time, guys. Per the comment just above, @Fake-E-Lee and I — and others too, I’m sure — will cross our fingers for news about an update and are grateful for this opportunity to provide feedback about our experience.

@Shiryu, thanks again to you too for connecting us!

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

Rosu

Hey @7Levels, thank you so much for your reply and continued engagement here with fans. Like @Fake-E-Lee, I also feel that I’ve been using most of the strategies that you describe; I constantly carry a sub weapon, generally of the melee variety, but sometimes a crossbow or spear where contextually preferable, and I’m also not shy with the use of bombs, throwing knives etc. if I feel that’s the only means to progress. I also routinely strike down lanterns for AoE/DoT effects or trigger other traps for enemy damage where plausible.

Unfortunately, like @Fake-E-Lee said, there is barely opportunity to progress even with these strategies, much less find the collectibles — the latter hunt being one of my primary sources of joy when playing and replaying each stage of Chapter I.

I’m really just sad that it feels like all of my joy with this game was stolen away between chapters. “Castle of Heart” transitioned quicker than most any game I’ve experienced from being one I couldn’t wait to play to now existing as something that I have to force myself to play.

I really respect your team and the way you’ve established a presence here to commmunicate with us, so I hope that this feedback is valuable. I do want to enjoy your game again — I just think the answer isn’t that we’re playing incorrectly, nor that we are unwittingly missing certain features.

In my opinion, from Chapter II onward, there are simply too many enemies. These enemies deal too much damage while receiving too little damage. The constant health attrition, which was totally manageable with the right effort in Chapter I, becomes the proverbial “straw which breaks the camel’s back” when layered atop the too numerous/too resilient/too powerful enemies.

If nothing else, I’d cherish an easy difficulty option. I’m not a prideful player and would gladly embrace “kiddie mode” in order to restore my initial joy with your title. As it stands... I don’t think I’m going back, and I also can’t encourage others to make a purchase. It really breaks my heart to be of this mindset when you guys seem so nice and your game has SOOO much potential, but it’s the truth.

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

Rosu

Hi @7Levels! Thank you for popping in to check on your fans — that is so cool! Please take a look at earlier praise from users like @Shiryu (#15, #42, #52), @Fake-E-Lee (#92, 93) and me (#102, #106) and see how that has completely dried up with more recent comments as we each hit Chapter 2 and have found the gameplay transition from challenging to just simply annoying (#113-117).

I don’t mean for this to sound rude at all, because I think your game has incredible potential and delivered a GREAT first chapter... but despite my initial surge of excitement/enjoyment, I’m not touching it again unless something can be done to eliminate the chore of slogging through the gauntlet of high-damage ranged enemies who destroy any sense of fun.

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

Rosu

@Damo Excellent review, man. You really are spot-on here. Unfortunately I did not heed your review and purchased the game, impressed by YouTube videos of the early levels and initially lulled into a false sense of accomplishment by the “easy”-compared-to-what-follows Chapter I; unfortunately, per my comment just above, I am one of the players you describe in the concluding remarks who will be “giving up and moving on to games less harmful to [my] well being.”

I can’t say that I fully regret purchasing the game, as I had a heck of a lot of fun with Chapter I, replaying its five levels many times over this past weekend in order to collect all 25 heart pieces for the chapter... but I won’t be doing the same for Chapter II, which has grown less and less fun as I’ve progressed, nor will I be starting Chapter III at all. I’ve had genuine fun with the game early on, so it’s again not a total loss, but all the same I absolutely wish I’d spent my $15 elsewhere and would encourage others to read your review closely, heeding it better than I did, and purchase only with extreme caution (if at all — really, just don’t).

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

Rosu

@Fake-E-Lee, @Shiryu Yeah... actually, I’m finding that most of my joy at playing this game has dried up as of level 2-2. I had not yet started Chapter II when I first saw @Fake-E-Lee’s comment above, and playing 2-1 left me thinking, “what difficulty spike am I missing?”; however, right off the cuff with 2-2 the bombardment of high-damage ranged enemies makes progression from that point forward an absolute chore — so much so that I’m “digi-shelving” it for the foreseeable future in prayer of an update.

I hope that the devs watch forums like this one for honest feedback, as I have championed the game here and elsewhere only to find that what was previously an appreciably challenging game quickly transforms into such a disheartening trudge through polygonal hell that I can literally imagine never touching “Castle of Heart” again in the event that the dev never makes an effort to balance it.

Oh well — we gave it a go. Fence-sitters, be warned! My updated recommendation is to keep your $15, at least for now.

Re: Review: Bit Dungeon Plus (Switch eShop)

Rosu

@NintenMau5 Well-written review! Regarding save points at the end of each floor: can you resume there post-death, or is this a traditional roguelike in the sense that these are only save states and death always takes you back to the very beginning of the game/dungeon rather than floor?

Re: Battle Chasers: Nightwar Approved For Nintendo Switch, Release Date Still To Come

Rosu

@RyanCraddock Hello! I was so excited when this article was posted, but tomorrow marks three weeks since the game was approved by Nintendo, and Airship Syndicate has been totally radio silent since then... I know they are at the mercy of publisher THQ, but the original indication was that retail arrival would fall 4-6 weeks after Nintendo approval, and again here we are theee weeks later without even a date! It’s killing me!!!

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

Rosu

@Shiryu, @Fake-E-Lee I can tell you guys where it is if it’s stumping you too... I probably played that elevator sequence a dozen times before finding it... but now I am proud to say that I’ve cleared all five stages of Chapter I with all heart pieces/purple crystals found.

The game isn’t perfect, but I know few that are, and I’m enjoying the heck out of it. $14.99 is a steal for the value I’ce already found conquering this first chapter... with three more (15 more stages, I’m guessing) to go. Thanks again to you both. Hopefully anyone else still “on the fence” will see our back-and-forth and be encouraged that the game delivers!

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

Rosu

@Fake-E-Lee, @Shiryu For lack of certainty where else to post this question... have you guys or anyone else found the second heart piece (purple crystal) in Stage IV of Chapter I? I am assuming it is in a side room while riding the burning elevator up, but for the life of me I cannot find it...

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

Rosu

@PhilKenSebben You won’t regret it. I posted some post-purchase thoughts above late last night, but in short, I trusted these guys (@Fake-E-Lee, @Shiryu) and they were 100% right — the game is a perfect fit for me!!

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

Rosu

@Fake-E-Lee I am right there with you — loving the game so far. I have now played the first two stages of Chapter I and managed to grab all five purple crystals for each (took a second try on the first stage).

I do think I understand the “input lag” several have referenced, but as you and others have indicated I think this is a design choice to reinforce the weight and literal stony nature of your player character. It seems unquestionably intentional (though I certainly wouldn’t turn down a slight fluidity boost if it were to be patched).

There are also some UI oddities — e.g. “why is there no title menu to precede the stage select screen?” or “why can’t I press a button mid-game to see a reminder of how many/which purple crystals I have found?” etc. — but these are hardly game breaking.

This game really just seems like something built with love and passion. It feels like a strong first effort from a developer who is appreciably Switch-focused, and I think it more than deserves the community’s support. I am SURE it will improve with updates — but the game that exists now is well worth full price ($15 USD) in the interim, and I’d love to think more will join us in giving it a go.

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

Rosu

@Fake-E-Lee Looking forward to your thoughts! Sympathies on the office wi-fi... mine’s bad too, haha, and we just recently switched to a LESSER-known ISP... sigh.

@Shiryu, @bluedogrulez Thanks so much for your respective feedback on those other games! I had a feeling both “Slain” and “Pirate’s Curse” are must-haves.

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

Rosu

@Einherjar Sounds like “Salt and Sanctuary” really was amazing. I remember checking DAILY to see if that game had released for Vita several years ago, pretty much exactly as I do for “Hollow Knight” now while waiting for its Switch port (hopefully we are hearing something from Team Cherry tomorrow)... at some point, though, I just quit focusing on “S&S” and just moved on. Do you know if a Switch port for that one has even been hinted at, or is it just wishful thinking?

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

Rosu

@Shiryu I know you’ve commented here a lot already, but have you played “Slain,” and if so, would you say it or “Castle of Heart” is the better game?

I am very keen to play something “Castlevania”-esque (in the classic sense — though Metroidvanias are my thing too), but much of what stopped me on “Slain” before were fairly negative reviews (I hear it’s been improved heavily through updates and wish Nintendo Life would do formal articles on updated games from time to time); with the current NA Eshop sale, “Slain” and “Castle of Heart” are priced pretty close to one another...

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

Rosu

@Fake-E-Lee That’s extremely kind... like you I have been hyped for this one, and honestly, I am grateful to @Shiryu for reinforcing here that the game does have merit in addition to its quirks. I’d actually join you in test driving the game for everyone here except that my work day is too jam-packed even for lunch... so I’ll look forward to your feedback and will most likely be purchasing it for myself tomorrow evening.

Like several here, I’m also eyeballing “Slayaway Camp” this week, and I’ve also pondered the “Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse” (never played previously), but am tempted to sale-delay that one in favor of “Castle of Heart.”

Re: Hollow Knight On Switch Not Part Of The Nindies Showcase, But Release News Is Coming Soon

Rosu

Looking back over Team Cherry’s page, it appears that the typical gap from prior “Hollow Knight” DLC announcement (e.g. “Hidden Dreams,” “Grimm Troupe”) to live release has been six to eight weeks. They announced the final content update, “Gods and Glory,” on 1/31/18 — tomorrow marking the passage of seven weeks since. At initial reveal, they stated that the Switch version would arrive just prior to the release of “Gods and Glory” on ALL platforms.

My guess is that they would not have revealed the final DLC unless they anticipated being within the normal six to eight weeks of release. This may be wishful thinking, but all precedent points toward the imminent of arrival of “Hollow Knight” on Switch and it’s final DLC just behind it for all players.

If I were a betting man, I’d put money behind the theory that Team Cherry wants to make a global announcement that will also reach their Steam/GOG/Kickstarter fanbase rather than just targeting Switch players. Whatever their reasons, I don’t fault them for anything so long as information arrives as promised!

Re: Hollow Knight On Switch Not Part Of The Nindies Showcase, But Release News Is Coming Soon

Rosu

SUPER disappointed. I was reading through @Fake-E-Lee’s post above and thinking, “...yeah, that’s been me since last summer too.” Right down to haunting their Twitter page daily despite not being active on ANY social media platform. I’d love to see them release the game ASAP digitally even if that means a delayed physical release, as the (anticipated) $14.99 price is so low compared to content value that I’d gladly double-dip as a show of support. Here’s to hoping this week’s news is of a release — at least via Eshop — by month’s end.

Re: Nindies Showcase For Nintendo Switch Airing Next Week

Rosu

I’ve seen a lot of love for “Hollow Knight” above, and honestly I’ll be happy with anything else showcased so long as we get a date for that one. I’d love to see “HK” on sale by month’s end, and would be ecstatic for it to arrive as soon as next week.

I don’t think “Battle Chasers” counts as an indie (or “Nindie”) — it’s development studio is small, while the publisher is not — but I’d love to see a date for that one too.

...I think I posted this exact same thing before last week’s Direct, but these hopes seem more viable this time given the indie focus.

Re: Surprise! There's A New Nintendo Direct Coming, And It's Due Tomorrow

Rosu

Count me in with those crossing their fingers for a “Hollow Knight” date! And perhaps one for “Battle Chasers” too — though I don’t want to get too greedy! Per the developer, we know the latter needs a 6ish week production period following Nintendo approval, which was issued just recently... but “Hollow Knight” could thereotically arrive any minute... perhaps even today. So say we all.

Re: Nintendo Download: 1st March (North America)

Rosu

“Detention” for me — I can’t wait!

I can’t really explain it, but I felt for some reason like “Hollow Knight” was going to make a surprise arrival today. The last blog post that Team Cherry made sure seemed to indicate that it was close, but that was on 1/31, and the whole month of February has now passed, so this strange hope kindled within me that they were going to “Pull an ‘Outlast’” and drop that awesomeness upon the eShop today. Oh well... maybe next week.

Re: Be There On The Double As PAW Patrol: On A Roll Pads Onto Switch

Rosu

I’ll gladly join the chorus of excited parents/aunts/uncles/etc. here! My daughter loves the Paw Patrol cartoon and is starting to enjoy a select handful of games in small increments (all Nintendo-themed, of course: “Super Mario Run,” “MARIO Kart 8” and — on a basic navigation level — “Super Mario Odyssey”). She’ll turn four right around the time this game releases and I can’t imagine not buying it for her day-and-date.

On a related note, I am sure other sites are full of vitriolic commentary about licensed material and/or children’s games as a whole, but one of the things that I love about the Nintendo Life community is evidenced right here where we are voicing optimism about the game’s potential and sharing excitement for this opportunity to share gaming with our little ones. Even now as an adult my own parents and I connect meaningfully through things we love in common, and though she’s very young, I deeply enjoy bonding with my daughter in similar ways.

Re: Video: Bloodstained Development Team Shares New Footage

Rosu

This is a release date purchase for me— zero question. Ironically, I always thought that the eternally-in-development-wait-it-was-supposedly-feature-complete-in-June-right? “Hollow Knight” would be tiding me over for “Bloodstained,” but at this rate I half expect the reverse to be true! Still, any “complaint” is minor when the bottom line is that Switch has an impressively robust lineup of titles on the way , especially for Metroidvania fans.

Re: Out Today: Five New Switch eShop Games to Spice Up Halloween

Rosu

If “Perception” reviews well on Switch, then I will probably spring for it given the developer pedigree. Most likely, however, I will grab “The Count Lucanor” on the strength of that title’s review here last week. Did anyone purchase it upon release, and if so, od you mind sharing about your experience playing on Switch?

Re: Nintendo Download: 19th October (North America)

Rosu

@SKTTR I had not heard “The Count Lucanor” would receive a retail release in North America; is that 100% confirmed? Not asking for a source or anything — I’ve just been planning to download it today and could be persuaded to wait if that’s the case. I also have my eye on “Revenant Saga” (wanting a JRPG in the aftermath of the “Battle Chasers” delay) and “Elliot Quest,” but will only buy one Eshop game week because...

“Mummy Demastered” is a day one download for me next Tuesday, and I’ll be picking up a retail copy of “Fire Emblem Warriors” tomorrow!

Re: Nintendo Download: 19th October (North America)

Rosu

@hcfwesker Despite mixed reviews I’ve really enjoyed “Vaccine,” which I purchased on the day of release. I can definitely recommend it at that discount. The game does get a little repetitive, but the randomized layout gives you a sense of renewed uncertainty even when the individual rooms and graphical assets become all-too-familiar. Runs where the handgun is spawned far from your starting point can be daunting, but I became pretty proficient with the knife and ultimately enjoyed the tension of melee combat over using guns (odd to say as an “RE” veteran). Finally, there’s a spray you find fairly early and often every run that will keep the crawling enemies (think ‘lickers”) from damaging you when attacking; this further reduces the “need” for a gun rather than knife. Have fun! I enjoy it still from time to time.

Re: DOOM Confirmed for Nintendo Switch Launch on 10th November

Rosu

I am thinking really hard about this one and am so glad that it’s arriving on Switch. I hope “Evil Within 2” follows closely behind per earlier commentary from Mr. Mikami...I’m sure a successful “Doom” launch would help motivate additional ports...

Personally, I played 7 levels of “Doom” on my PC before getting swept into other games (it is EXCELLENT), so it’d be fun to restart and finish it this time on Switch, where portability makes a huge difference in my ability to find ample playtime.

My only hesitation lies with my existing plan to purchase “Skyrim” the very next week; I played that one on PS3 extensively, but never bought the DLC, and I think this new (to me) content alone will justify re-investing and using portability as a means of really seeing it through.
