Nintendo is broadcasting a Nindies Showcase later today which will no doubt be packed to bursting point with loads of lovely indie goodness for Switch.
One game that won't be included is Team Cherry's eagerly-awaited Metroidvania outing Hollow Knight; the team behind the game - which has already had a successful launch on Steam - has officially stated that it's not going to be part of today's broadcast:
Still, some news is better than no news at all, and we can't wait to hear when this excellent title will be headed to the Switch eShop.
Let us know if you're disappointed about Hollow Knight not being part of the Nindies Showcase by posting a comment below.

Aw heck yea :3
Hollow Knight announcement and Adepticon... An interesting end of the week in the works.
Either Team Cherry wasn't able to finish a new trailer in time for today's presentation or Nintendo wants to focus on Nindies that are coming out real soon and Hollow Knight's release is just too far off.
Not disappointed. They're doing everything they can I'm sure... so it will come around whenever it's ready.
I want this game really bad. I hope they announce a physical edition along the eshop date release, and not wait months like other games have.
Also an Amiibo would be cool.
I look forward to this game. Amiibo too but its just a luxe. They take their responsabilities and they tell us to dont have expectations on them in the indie showcase. Im not sad at all, I will wait patiently.
SUPER disappointed. I was reading through @Fake-E-Lee’s post above and thinking, “...yeah, that’s been me since last summer too.” Right down to haunting their Twitter page daily despite not being active on ANY social media platform. I’d love to see them release the game ASAP digitally even if that means a delayed physical release, as the (anticipated) $14.99 price is so low compared to content value that I’d gladly double-dip as a show of support. Here’s to hoping this week’s news is of a release — at least via Eshop — by month’s end.
I think it's great that they proactively let the fans know in advance to mitigate disappointment. Also, with an announcement promised for this week, I can handle Hollow Knight not being in the Direct.
Starting to lose interest in the game. I've held off on buying it on Steam in hopes of picking it up on the Switch. The delay coupled with the lack of communication makes me wonder why I'm waiting to play it. It's reminiscent of the Battle Chasers debacle.
I also find it strange they would tell us they will be giving us an update later this week. Why not just give us one now?
I want a Salt & Sanctuary announcement. passed on ps4 as want it on Switch, just like most games now really
@Fake-E-Lee I'll be screaming like a monkey if HLD gets announced.
I may or may not own three copies of it already.
Oh. I'm guessing July because that's when the DLC releases for the other platforms and Switch is supposed to have that included, right?
As for waiting and losing interest. The game has only gotten better since initial coverage and release and I have plenty to play so I can wait, myself (and could get it on PC but want on Switch).
And why not tell us now? Because releasing and announcing and pricing and timing is a minefield.
Looking back over Team Cherry’s page, it appears that the typical gap from prior “Hollow Knight” DLC announcement (e.g. “Hidden Dreams,” “Grimm Troupe”) to live release has been six to eight weeks. They announced the final content update, “Gods and Glory,” on 1/31/18 — tomorrow marking the passage of seven weeks since. At initial reveal, they stated that the Switch version would arrive just prior to the release of “Gods and Glory” on ALL platforms.
My guess is that they would not have revealed the final DLC unless they anticipated being within the normal six to eight weeks of release. This may be wishful thinking, but all precedent points toward the imminent of arrival of “Hollow Knight” on Switch and it’s final DLC just behind it for all players.
If I were a betting man, I’d put money behind the theory that Team Cherry wants to make a global announcement that will also reach their Steam/GOG/Kickstarter fanbase rather than just targeting Switch players. Whatever their reasons, I don’t fault them for anything so long as information arrives as promised!
Darn, that was my big hope for today's Nindies event. Getting more inclined to just pick it up on PC. Still, I'm grateful they put out this statement so folks like me won't watch the event and be disappointed.
I put off playing this one because I want to play it on my Nintendo Switch and its becoming harder and harder to do so this game looks fantastic I love the art style and Ive heard a lot of praise for the title . I really like the main character design so much he would make a perfect addition to amiibo., hint , hint 😊..
Here's hoping they do a good job on the port, it runs iffy on my gaming pc due to crashes/frame drops/etc. Even with all that I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would gladly double dip to support the devs and play it on the big screen if they do it well.
@Romeo-75 How do you know the main protagonist is a he?
@Fake-E-Lee https://nintendoeverything.com/hyper-light-drifter-coming-to-switch/
Wasn't shown during the Direct for whatever reason but HELL YEAH
@MongolRaider your response made me curious so I did some slight research and I discovered that gender is never specified as the dreamers refer to Hollow Knight as "it" I had to stop myself as to not reveal to many spoilers and now I want to play the title even more ., Thanks.
@Romeo-75 Haha, np. Yeah, the Hollow One is a mysterious character, I like that. A silent knight, kinda reminds me of Link, except we all know Link's gender. Hollow Knight is a great game and would be worth waiting for the Switch version. I very rarely double dip on games but will make an exception for this game!
Surprise, surprise, no new information for the Switch.

My interest is almost gone.
looking forward for this
