Re: More Official Pokémon Go Gameplay Details Emerge

RenanLK

Oh, come on! Put battles in the code as well! Otherwise, this is not Pokémon. I wanna battle wild Pokémon and real people through AR. Imagine this: Two people fighting through AR watching the same thing over their phones' camera; and a third person can watch as well through the app pointing its camera to the same location the trainers are fighting. How cool would that be?

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo Was Wrong To Turn Its Back On The Wii Remote

RenanLK

I think they've left the game before its final boss... Really, Wii was a huge success, and still is. Much like SNES and N64, if you have it, sometimes you'll want to play it (specially when friends come over). Considering how popular it got, Nintendo should have improved upon it with a Wii 2, making a more precise Wiimote, maybe with more buttons and a slider (3DS-like) to allow traditional gaming as well. If you look at Playstation, can anyone not think of Dualshock controllers? Wii put Nintendo on the top, and its image became really strong, they could have used it more, but decided not to - unless you consider the name Wii U, but aside from Wii on the title, it has nothing to do with the older console.

Re: Feature: How Mario Kart Brought Two Soul Mates Together

@manu0

Hi, manu! How are you?

I totally agree with you about safety and everything; but I believe we must also take some other things into consideration. First, when he played with this girl, he was a teenager, not an adult. For all he knew, the girl on the other side could be a grown-up, a teenager or a child, not to mention she could be a he. I don't really think he was in love with this girl, he was attracted to the one he imagined that was on the other side. This was a romantic text, everyone always writes it in a way to make the story better - at least, I know I do, and not necessarily what you thought at that time. He looked for her, because they had a relationship from the past - not a romantic one. Once they started talking, they trusted each other enough to exchange more than "25000 words", as he said, so they probably mentioned their ages at some point. After all, at no point through his story he came across as seeking for a kid; I'm sure he was interested in knowing if she was a girl and her age. As they begin to know more of each other, they exchanged pictures as we can see in the article, and at some point he travelled to meet her. Anyway, considering everything I read, I don't believe for any second this guy was looking for kid. I ain't saying he wouldn't do it, just that you can't interpret it from his text. Although, I believe that what you wrote about security is a serious concern overall that must be talked about; just not in this story and article.

Feel free to tell me what you think. I'd appreciate to debate different understandings of his text. I only ask you to not insult me, ok? I'll respect your opinion, no matter how different it is from mine. =D

Re: Nintendo and DeNA Smart Device Game Details Coming on 29th October, With Investors Demanding Specifics

RenanLK

There are many Nintendo games that could be great on Mobile. Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is such a game, Mario VS DK as quoted by someone else, Layton series... Pretty much all the DS library that focuses on touch. Let's not forget that if it wasn't for DS, there wouldn't be smartphone games using touch, Nintendo showed how to do it. Now, they'll show how to do meaningful gaming experiences on smartphones, at least I trust them to do it.

Re: Gallery: Mario - A History of Power-Ups, Fashion and Wardrobe Missteps

RenanLK

It may be just me, but Nintendo seems to be out of the spotlight lately. Where are the AAAs? Nintendo Direct? Mario, Zelda, Pokémon? New games and IPs? I don't expect IGN or GameSpot to deliver news about Nintendo, but NLife is talking about galleries, memories, late games coming to e-Shop, indies, opinions for weeks now. Don't take me wrong, I know there are many great indies, but they don't make everyone go insane for 'em. Where are you, Nintendo?

Re: Feature: A Pokémon Retrospective: Generation 1 - 1996 to 1999

RenanLK

@Cyber-BLP-- I love Pokémon 1st and 2nd gen, specially. The first and second ones offered outstanding gameplay and simplicity when gameplay ruled over graphics. XY was a problem, though... Fighting became a thousand times better in 3D, finally, but the game just ends when you finish the story. There should be more post-credits content.

Re: DeNA West CEO Believes Nintendo Smart Device Releases "Might Change the Way People Play Mobile Games"

RenanLK

@Kaze_Memaryu You realize consoles also can't be upgraded to fit your needs, right? Smartphones aren't what phones used to be, just as consoles aren't what they used to be. My point is that technology changes according to creativity usage, so my argument doesn't end because PCs are upgradable.
I never said the same games produced for consoles will be produced for phones, I actually hate playing with emulated analog stick. I believe games should be created having phones in mind, not consoles [when working for phones, obviously]. Skyward Sword would never work the same in other platforms, and it's an awesome game. If you consider depth to be games produced for consoles only, mainly with traditional controls, then there's nothing else I can tell you.
Also, Phantom Hourglass was fully played with touch, so yes - it would work perfectly on phones, how wouldn't it?
Games with depth can be produced for phones with phones in mind, not just ports of console titles - in that, I agree with you; there's no way emulating buttons will be as good as actual buttons.

Re: DeNA West CEO Believes Nintendo Smart Device Releases "Might Change the Way People Play Mobile Games"

RenanLK

@Kaze_Memaryu Although I can see your point, I don't agree with you, dude. Most things aren't or weren't created for what they do. Computers were war machines, today they can do pretty much "everything". Videogames played games, now you can browse around the internet, watch videos... The thing is: Creative people find new ways to use technology, if you don't think outside the box, you're never gonna move anywhere. Wii and DS wouldn't exist if someone hadn't thought about mixing a TV controller and motion tech with gaming, or how touch screens could bring something new to the table. Phones are used for much more than communicating, they have touch screens, "motion" sensor, etc, that can be used for gaming. Think about Prof. Layton or Zelda: Phantom Hourglass; these are brilliant games that would work perfectly on phones to name a few.
The fact that mobile gaming is mostly used for making easy money out of poor games with no depth or creativity [for what smartphones can offer] doesn't mean that a interested developer can't come up with something original. Every single console is limited by it's hardware, but you can do thousands of different things within these limits if you want.

Re: Chris Pranger From Nintendo Treehouse Discusses Harsh Realities Of Localisation

RenanLK

Well, I get that. Fans usually forget it's an industry. I live in Brazil and just now we're starting to get translated games: some w/ subtitles, others dub too. The solution is quite simple - if you like it, then learn the language required to understand it. We all wanted videogames and had to make money to pay the required price, right? It's the same thing (except for region locked games, then you also need a JP console). I wouldn't understand the games I like if I didn't learn english.

Re: Interview: Senran Kagura Producer Kenichirō Takaki Bares All

RenanLK

@Crimzonlogic Pretty much every fighting game includes "hot guys". If you look at it, most of them are tall, w/ strong bodies and powerful. That's just how hetero men usually understand "being hot". Since these games are mostly produced by male developers, it's their understanding of a hot guy that shows up in the game. Perhaps if a female developer created a fighting title, male characters would look different.
People usually remember how woman are affected by male culture (and it's important they do), but they tend to forget that superheroes and strong males are shown to boys as what they must be as well.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Wii U eShop / N64)

RenanLK

Ocarina of Time has been released in almost every single platform Nintendo created since N64; they got so much money out of it that I think it should be called public domain and be distributed for free already. That aside, it's a fantastic game that anyone who enjoys gaming should play. And I believe fans should give newer Zelda titles a chance to shine. They improved in many different ways, less inovative than moving to 3D, but still a lot of fun.

Re: Site News: A New Readership Survey Has Appeared

RenanLK

NLife could come up with statistics of most of these data... Would be fun to know what's the profile of these gamers, although I'm quite sure if you asked only NLife readers, the profile would be a bit different than, say, Pushsquare readers. =)

Re: Nintendo Steps Away From The Brazilian Market

RenanLK

No! I'm really mad at Nintendo right now! So what? Those who bought WiiU and 3DS should throw them out now because nothing new will come unless we import it? You lost my respect, Nintendo.
I've read so many times Nintendo being against the idea of dropping WiiU for its bad sales out of respect for its costumers. At least you should've done the same to us, brazilians. Ugh! It's like PS4 with absurd prices and Xbox forcing online all over again...

Re: Video: The Top Ten Worst Designed Pokémon Ever

RenanLK

Nice choices, but for me there are uglier and more uninspired pokémon than these. Think about that sword-like pokémon from XY. That is not even a creature, it is an object! It feels like the designers still didn't realize what made the Red/Blue pokemon so cute and awesome.
