I may reconsider not getting a DSi now.

I'll buy it if it has some form of wireless.

The stages were always boring, and the snapshots were never anything special. It's not really that big of a loss.

It would have been overpriced anyway.

Nintendo has had plenty of opportunities to release SSB. Maybe they're taking their time because they're going to add something for the NA release. Online play, perhaps?

On May 18, Super Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., and Majora's Mask will all be released together, but there won't be any Wiiware games.

According to the Wii, XB360, and PS3 articles on Wikipedia, the Wii has sold fewer (<1 million) units than the two other consoles combined.

Nintendo DID release demos for the two retail games. Check the Nintendo Channel.

Judging by IGN's review and score, I don't think they even played the game.
