Well this kind of makes sense to me when it comes to most AAA games they release on console/PC also when it comes to Nintendo it's hard to keep up with their first party game sales. Most consumers buy Nintendo to play Nintendo games, I do. Now as for mobile ( smartphone/tablet) a lot of people already own these devices for other things besides gaming so it is easy to get a game out to consumers. This really isn't a surprise for me. If you buy Nintendo expect to buy another platform for games that aren't Nintendo games if that's what you are looking for.

Got the Zelda CD it will be at my house in 2weeks or less!

Why do people talk about consoles lifespan like it's one to three years? The 3DS isn't doing as well as DS? Really probably because the DS is the highest selling handheld console of all time you can't expect that kind of success two times in a row. Same goes for Wii and Wii U. Now I do think that Nintendo made fault by keeping the Wii and DS name with their new consoles which came across confusing to most consumers but to expect either to sell as well as last gen is kind of crazy

So Nintendo games sold well but third party sucked lol so Nintendo made money off of themselves but screwed everyone else for the most part.

@JaxonH also very valid points sir the only thing I would say about W101 is, though you and I see the difference, it has to look very confusing to consumers with Pikmin coming out a month before. As for FE that is newer to the west but it something that people have been asking for quite a while. X I believe will help sell the Wii U because Xenoblade did pretty well for being a later Wii game but Nintendo needs a new IP that stand out from all their other IP and though I am excited to play W101 I don't believe it is that stand out game, I hope I'm wrong. Even if they bring back more old IP like KI and DK it would help but Nintendo needs to take a step towards something like Portal or Unfinished Swan. Compelling story and deep gameplay for more core gamers. I'm not saying they should be exactly like those game but I feel that would be a good direction. Either way something that truly sticks out in comparison to anything they else are doing is what I feel they need to get people interested in Nintendo's capabilities again.

Super Mario 3D Galaxy then Super Mario 3D Univese would be an awesome merger of the two.

@S_T_K sorry to butt in but I'm doing it to agree with you! Nintendo needs western development studios so bad. I don't care if Nintendo makes bloody violent games but look at portal or unfinished swan great challenging games that gamers love! Nintendo NEEDS games for adults that doesn't mean blood and guts all the time it means compelling story and difficult gameplay and I think a lot if Nintendo fans confuse the difference.

@b23cdq well GameStop really doesn't have much to do with it not saying tgey have nothing to do with it. It's more of an investment problem if developers can't show investors that there is a market for their game then investors will back out. Which is a real shame because it would be cool fresh different and exciting to see any developer do this. Nintendo is one of the few developers that might be able to pull it off but the best time to do it would have been or would be E3 when everyone is watching. I mean could you imagine if the did this with smashbros this year? Wii U boxes would have grown wings they would have been flying off the shelves so fast!

Though the touch screen can be great for some gameplay experiences I agree that menu selection is the best for most console games. This is the reason consoles like the Ouya are coming out many games on android that look and play like console games would be better with a controller. NintendoLand made great use of the gamepad but forcing it into a game like Zelda would be disappointing but having an easy access menu in Zelda AMAZING! So as long as its not forced bring on the touch controls I love a diverse game that has many ways to play within it!

@JaxonH I can agree with that but it does seem Nintendo might get more notice right now because there is so much hype around them not having a new ip. So it would probably be all over the place with feedback good or bad. Also core Nintendo fans need pleased by Nintendo more than ever right now because I'm the only one of my friends with a Wii U and most of them are core Nintendo fans but won't buy a console on Mario alone. I will but I love Mario.

@Einherjar the reason that the Xbox and playstation can be sold at a loss is because of third party publishers paying licensing to put their games on their consoles. Nintendo has a higher sale rate on first party games so they should make plenty of money off of game sales so selling the console at a loss shouldn't be as big of a fear because if they have higher console sales then they could have more game sales and still make money but it is a long term investment. Also Nintendo has a third and first party software crisis right now because they don't want to outsource games like f zero or star fox to be made. Yes they could make more money if made internally but if the games aren't made at all then there are no sales. As for third party it is hard to develop for a consoles with low sales because there is less chance for money to be made. So honestly a price cut would probably be the best way to go to boost sales considering the ps4 is 399. I love Nintendo abd I own a Wii U but if they want people besides their fans to buy their home console they need to take a page from the 3ds handbook and do a price cut followed by a ton of first party support. That being said I think it's in the card but Nintendo is being wise by not showing their cards.

@JaxonH people do ignore most new ips but if they were from Nintendo then consumers might be more excepting

@iMii I don't want what they do to be westernized I want Nintendo to make western studios with freedom to make western games so that they would be more diverse.

Just because new experiences make new games doesn't mean that you should release nothing but Mario games.

Well make more games we want to play maybe make a development team in the US and Europe that are allowed to make games. If you want to please these market let them be apart if them. I can't even explain how much Nintendo doesn't listen to their fans and I for one am getting tired of it. I'm gonna start spending my money elsewhere if things don't change.

@Shambo I didn't really like Zombie U so I try not to bring it up because I'm a biased gamer when it comes to FPS lol (I know my faults). Also not saying other games like Lego City didn't use it well and yes it is great for off screen play but I just haven't played a game were I felt its was a necessary as it is on DS/3DS not that I don't think it will get there. I love my Wii U and can't wait to see how Nintendo utilizes the second screen in a home console setting but those games just haven't popped up for me yet. As for latency I haven't had any problems with that at all I think the system works great! Also I really hope they put the item menu on the touch screen for the new Zelda that would be amazing to not have to go into the menu to switch weapons!

Okay I support Ouya but I do not in any way support emulators being in an ad that's bs.

I'm always up for a new gameplay experience but I will say dual screens work a lot better on a handheld not that I haven't enjoyed my Wii U but besides NintendoLand nothing has stuck out as necessary but the W101 look VERY promising!

Yeah Mario Kart is fun but F-Zero is hard so it would be nice for a challenge from Nintendo in a racing game.

@BlackStar9000 I don't think their is a crazy hardware problem it does hurt the third part support. I would say they need to focus on new types of game though Mario sells well so would some new/old ip. Also to touch on your point of nobody knowing what it is Wii U was a very bad name choice. Wii 2 would have been better a brand new name all together would have been nice or my favorite idea the Ultra Nintendo Entertaiment System or UNES for short might have hit better with gamers. That being said a good Metroid with online multiplayer should have been a day one release with promise of dlc. A lot of fsp games are running together if they could have offered something new in the genre with the console instead we got zombie u with no online multiplayer...

I think that Super Mario 3D Land could be a great setup for a Super Mario 3D Galaxy followed by a Super Mario 3D universe but they do need to spread out the Mario. I don't think they realize that we are for less Mario all around not less 3D or 2D Mario but Mario golf Mario party Mario Kart I mean Nintendo might as well change the company name to Mario at this rate. I just don't understand the lack of new ip do they not understand character development anymore? Also where is a new star fox earthbound or f zero because I'm sorry but you can't think of a way to make a new f zero fun but you can add one new aspect to Mario or Mario Kart and consider it a new ip. I really am starting to question how game development is being handled at Nintendo.

I got my hands on this when I was a kid so I am excited I hope that SEGA makes a new Tales game or maybe a Knuckles and Tales game. I would say a shadow game but I have a feeling it would play a lot like Sonic already plays...

I can see where they are coming from business wise but it still sucks. Not that I really play any EA games anyways...

@mikeyman64 I'm not defending illegal ROM usage considering emulators are not illegal I was saying that the people at Ouya seem to recognize that the way VC is being handled is greedy. I am fine paying for a game once or paying for an updated game ( HD remake ) but I see their point of "freeing the games" that people have bought so many times before. It's fine if you want to try and twist my words but try and do a better job next time. Because I don't see how the fact that the Ouya can do more than emulate makes the VC market any less greedy.

@mikeyman64 well there are plenty of games that suck to play on a phone that would be much better with a controller on android market place right now let alone the Ouya and other android consoles will give an opportunity for smaller dev companies to make good console games. Also I'm not talking about piracy games like Mario that I have had to pay for every time new harware comes out should be FTP at this point. That or Nintendo needs to do something about their VC so that I don't have to pay for the same game multiple times Sony is doing it and its a great thing for consumers. This post isn't promoting piracy as much as it is anti greed. Now if they showed off super Mario 3d land I would be pissed beyond belief and do I agree with their approach... Hell no they stated this poorly but I don't disagree with the meaning behind it. Also Ouya sold out on amazon day one and had one of the if not the most successful kickstarters to date I doubt they need advertisement.
