I loved this beautiful game. I also gave up on this beautiful game. 4 full days of either trying to beat the Last Judge or traversing the Mist and I was done.
Old man shouting at cloud moment. But when did all of this become a thing? I’d love to see them do a break down of my old Master System controller or assess the ‘repairabilty’ of my Sega Megadrive. Frame rates, nits, aliasing etc..is the game fun? Yes. Does it work out of the box? Also yes. The rest can jog on….
I purchased a PlayStation 5 at launch, but unfortunately, the physical version was out of stock, so I had to opt for the digital version instead.
It cost me £360, while games on the PlayStation Store cost between £69 and £119. I had to wait for months before any major new first-party games became available. While I don’t necessarily defend Nintendo, it appears acceptable for Sony to do this without significant public outcry. I’m not entirely clear on the reason behind the controversy surrounding this. It’s not as if high prices for games aren’t the norm on all other platforms.
Have downloaded all Nintendo's mobile efforts but, apart from the odd peek into Pocket Camp, haven't went near them in many months. So many micro-transactions are required in order to get anything worthwhile in what are really just watered down versions of great games.
head hurts, I thought Smash Bros was originally designed to be pick up and play so that anyone could enjoy without the need for complicated combo/move sets/extras?
'but those are very slim pickings in comparison to current-gen home console rivals the PS4 and Xbox One.'
Slightly off topic i'll admit but i wouldn't say the pickings are that great with those two. I've had a PS4 for about 4 months now alongside my Wii U but it rarely gets used, whereas the Nintendo machine is used daily for a whole range of games/ activities.
I recently asked friends about where the 'great' next-gen games where and they were unable to reach any consensus, going as far to admit that so far with this generation they felt they've been sold a bit of a dud.
Each to their own game-wise of course but I think time will be kinder to the Wii U, it's the best console around at this time for me.
Constantly disheartened when I walk into my local GAME, wall to wall Xbox and Playstation with usually just one or two shelves for Nintendo. Obviously due to the other two playing big bucks for shelf space but it's still disappointing. Interestingly I had a conversation with one of the staff about this and they stated its just a purely a commercial decision, they don't see money in selling Nintendo. Indeed they told me they don't even necessarily bother getting some new WiiU releases in as they don't see the point. A shame.
I do console myself though by remembering that GAME is rubbish.

Still beautiful though.

@The_Nintend_Pedant I meant that at the time nobody gave this a second thought, what you’re talking about is 40 years after the fact.

All totally valid points, much more variety in platforms and games would be ideal.
That way the launch might go with more of a bang than a whimper.
