Re: Random: Every Issue Of Nintendo Power Is Now Available To Download

@speedyb Yeah, Retromags is the place for all of these magazines. Personally, old EGMs are a lot more interesting to read than Nintendo Power... lots more rumors of games that never came out or were never localized, more honest reviews (although they were heavily Sega-biased during the 16-bit era), and NP has too much strategy/maps stuff, which isn't that interesting to me. Still fun to look at, though!

I was just telling my wife last week about how I love looking at EGMs from around the turn of the century and how wacko the ads are, with a giant irreverent jokey picture taking up 3/4 of the spread and four tiny screenshots below. Sometimes you can't even tell what the game is unless you read the copyright info at the bottom. These are pretty much perfectly done.

Re: The First Review For Kirby And The Forgotten Land Is Now In

@Clyde_Radcliffe This is my main question about this game... is it under ten hours and incredibly easy like most Kirby games? If so, I don't believe it's worth full price. I'm not being stupid over here asking for a "hardcore Kirby experience," more power to everyone who loves these games, but it's not for me from a cost/benefit standpoint.

@Lord I listened to the first couple of episodes.. they are trying to walk the line between having insider stories of working at Nintendo, not burning any bridges at Nintendo, and not tearing through too many Nintendo insider stories at once, and it's kind of awkward. I don't think anyone cares what they think about PlayStation games, but they don't seem to want to do a dedicated Nintendo podcast, either. It's a pleasant listen but they keep posting user polls asking what people want, and Nintendo content always wins in a total landslide.

@Nintendo4Sonic When the first trailer dropped, I was excited, but it was somewhat tempered by the fact that it was clearly Samus Returns Part II, which to me was a solid 8/10 game rather than "one of the greatest games ever." There's nothing WRONG with an 8/10, but it's a bit of a letdown for this series.

Re: République: Anniversary Edition Sneaks Onto Switch This Month

I remember this game because it's the game that Ryan Payton did after he worked on MGS4. Around the time I came back to gaming as a major hobby (I lapsed a bit during college in the early 2000s), Payton was like the patron saint of nerdboys online: a "normal nerd" who got to go work with the God Kojima. IIRC he was supposed to be the guy who helped bring a Western perspective to MGS4 in a time when "Japanese games suck" was the trendy opinion of the day. Quite a blast from the past here!
