What's kinda ridiculous is that PEGI don't take a hard stance on loot boxes - which are gambling with real money - but do with a card game that only involves simulated gambling where you can't lose anything of value.
@KingMike Atari isn't really even Infogrames these days because they in turn went bankrupt in 2013, closed all their studios and put the IP up for sale.
Ah well, at least the new owners are doing some good things with that IP, with Night Dive and Digital Eclipse both being studios worth watching regardless of who owns them.
I'd like to know what games Pyoro "spoiled" because all I saw from that account was a series of cryptic hints.
"is xbox a partner" = Grounded, Pentiment, NSO games
"Sometimes Nintendo can be a Partner because they love dolphins" = Endless Ocean
"Is Game Freak a partner" = Pocket Card Jockey
etc.
You'd only be able to infer the games mentioned with information from other sources, some of which weren't entirely reliable. That's why loads of other "insiders" were predicting Hi-Fi Rush from Microsoft, and Dolphin to be a reference to GameCube games.
Showing my age here, but I first played a Jeff Minter game on a friend's VIC-20 in 1982 and yes, it was Gridrunner.
My main concern is that they do a good with the emulation and keep the latency as low as possible. Most of his games are very twitchy, and too much lag would be ruinous.
I'll forever remember him for "Debbie Gibson Is Pregnant with My Two-Headed Love Child" which will live on in the memories of those with a fondness for ridiculous song titles.
My most played re-make of the year would be Baten Kaitos, which probably isn't anyone's idea of a good one. Yet, the original games shine through and I really enjoyed them in spite of the issues.
Anyway, yeah, Link's Awakening is the greatest re-make. I'd love to see all the 2D Zelda games eventually get the same treatment.
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Tacoma yet. Obviously, it never made it to Switch, but I thought that game was a big step up from Gone Home, both in terms of the visuals and offering more varied gameplay.
I've got to say that I'm a bit nervous about this one, given its troubled development. Fingers crossed though.
I woke up pleasantly surprised to find that they hadn't sold out. The shipping to Australia wasn't so pleasant, but I've got my order in.
I don't always buy physical but when I do, it's usually for a collectors edition of a game that I'd consider to be a keeper and this has at least six of them.
This all takes me back to the 1990s when, if you wanted to play the latest games from Japan, you had to import them and play them in Japanese. You usually didn't get English subtitles either.
As a veteran from that era, I can say that the language barrier is a lot less than you think it'll be. If the lack of a dub is the only thing holding you back, take a chance on it. I honestly don't think you'll regret it.
Games Machine gave it an 86, while acknowledging the bugs and clunky mechanics, so there's one positive review from a somewhat reputable outlet.
I think it's just going to go down as one of those games where it's both a labour of love that some players are going to feel totally enchanted by, and will be spurred to put in the effort to work around its issue, but also an unplayable mess for many others. Both perspectives are valid, but it's hard to sum them up in a single score.
Although I managed to get a fair way into it, I think I'll be putting it on the back burner for a while. There are presumably many more patches to come and it'll be more fun when there's a guide to fall back on rather than just having to live with getting stuck.

I wish they were doing an open preorder. At only 2500 copies this is going to sell out in seconds.

Karl Jobst = absolute legend
It's worth remembering that you can avoid all this garbage just by buying the games you want to play and keeping the ones you've enjoyed.
