It's odd that Ubisoft is deciding to hold a multiplatform sale right now, they're also cutting prices on Steam. I hope this means ZombiU sees more of an audience though
Maaaan, if Soul Sacrifice gets dumbed down to a Monster-Hunter-like game, Inafune's going to be mad he especially designed it to be different to anything else on the market iirc, which is why it's a vita release in the first place.
And I say good on the Sony and the Vita. Plus, I figure everyone in Japan who ever wanted a 3DS probably already has one
Here's what you're missing - "at current sales rate". Even Pachter agrees that innovative games will save the WiiU, and said innovative games are coming. This prediction is comparing the WiiU's reality to Sony and Microsoft's promises, which is naturally going to tip it away from the WiiU's favour.
Predictions work by extending current trends assuming that everything runs the same way in a year, in two years, in five years. Nothing Pachter said is wrong, technically, but it's entirely possible that he'll be proven wrong. From the tone of the slides, I'd even hazard a guess that he's welcome to being proven wrong.
I only have the first, and I can't find the second anywhere (although the others are readily available). I'd much prefer to go in order so that I don't accidentally spoil myself though
@Meaty-cheeky generally with multiplatform games, it's not particularly beneficial to the developer to push each system to the limit - logically speaking, you want each version to play just as well as the others. If one version is clearly the victor in terms of quality, there are going to be a lot of dissatisfied customers who don't own that particular console.
Although I doubt it'd be such a big problem - Watch Dogs is coming out for PS4 and most likely the new xbox, so the WiiU version will be quality too
@rayword , actually, DsiWare games are run in the 3ds's DS mode. That's why online functions and everything else are switched off when running Dsiware.
@GojiGuy Yatagaratsu is a finished game, in Japan. It's just Nicalis's job to port it and publish it in the western regions, as well as put on some extra content if they want. But since they announced it last year (?) I wouldn't expect it soon
I thought the Monsters on Friday game was going to be some kind of amazing mystery genre visual novel, but after looking at that video I'm not so sure :/
That dungeon crawler/horror game is first on my watchlist now, and then Monsters Appear. I dunno why, the Insect Tank game looked a little unwieldy from the gameplay video.
New Star Soccer deserves awards. It's daring enough to be a sports game with a different approach from the formulaic engines used by other soccer games, and still remains fun and engrossing.
I don't mind. This seems to be the case for Virtue's Last Reward in Australia (I can't find the 3DS version in any store; either it was never released physically or it was a really limited one) and it's readily available on the eshop for $20 dollars less than another retail game.
also, it'd be nice if this game didn't get canned in australia. really nice.
haha, oh dear, you must have read me wrong @Windy. I'm just saying, since it's been clarified in the comments that the screen-switching nature of the game between the top and bottom makes 3D annoying, I figured that people wouldn't want 3D if it's detrimental to the gameplay. Just observational humour, didn't mean to offend anyone
I wonder if people read the previous comments about commenting.. I also wonder why people haven't realised that not all 3DS games absolutely must be in 3D. Also, I would totally buy this (and suck at it) as soon as it gets released in Australia. You know our ratings system is terrible when even Australian developers don't make releases for Australia
@Schprocket We were never shackled to tortuous Euro classification; ANZ has its own ratings board. And it's significantly worse than the Euro one, since the market is smaller and it costs more. And processing tends to take longer. And, until recently, there was no R18+ rating.
I imagine the main issue is editing the speed so it plays at the same pace in all regions. Apparently the PAL version of MM1 originally was slowed down a little bit, and they fixed that for the 3DSVC release (Y)
Meanwhile in Australia - "I've already pre-ordered the WiiU", said nobody, ever. I would wonder why, since my friends are the key demographic and all. Then again, I'm probably with the majority who want to go to the beach this summer and then play videogames later ^^
as awesome as it is to have developers add on content to their games for free, I don't think I can survive another twenty levels of Mutant Mudds. If the first level of the dlc is as hard as the last level of the main game, I'm going to stop and admit defeat
Rhythm Heaven is one of my favourites, but I can see why I'd have trouble recommending it to guys with all the cutesy artwork and whatnot. Also Pokemon is no surprise for me at all
I'm defs getting this to support the Australian devs who are finally getting some limelight on the download services! Although 12 US is probably going to translate into either 18 or 20 here... Gotta get some more cards then :/
I was turned off from The Dust because apparently it was a little on the short side; I was hoping for The Jungle to bump it up content wise. I guess not :/
I'm probably on the minority here, but I'm a little tired of retro-styled side scrollers. I mean, Mudds and MSF (VVVVVV is yet to be released here) were great and I enjoyed them a lot, but the Gameboy VC is also full of fantastic platformers. What I liked about the eshop was that it could let smaller developers experiment with new ideas and get their games out without pulling all the stops on a retail release, like with Dillon's Rolling Western and Freakyforms, where gameplay styles aren't targeted to every consumer that walks into a retail shop but instead interest a select few which the game would be best suited for. So yeah, tl;dr I'd like to see more experimental titles on the eShop and find some unique experiences which wouldn't have been feasible for cartridge release.
Gonna check out Art of Ink, but otherwise nothing. Good to see SEGA keeping up with the GG releases, although I hear all the sonic games aren't very good, so let's hope something cool like Defenders of Oasis pops up quickly.
Ah Nicalis, you've never successfully released a game for the eshop in Australia yet. Anyone want to make odds for which one comes first? At the moment, VVVVVV, Cave Story and Nightsky seem to be on pretty even chances!
@3DSLUIGI actually it makes a bit of sense, since Renegade Kid is a smaller developer and is based in the USA. UK and Australian ratings systems are a tad more confusing and developers often get tangled up in the submissions progress; plus it costs more money for them. In Australia we miss out on all the titles the UK misses out, plus a couple of others like Pyramids and VVVVVV, but I think some of us have gotten used to it.

Re: Code Of Princess Picks a Fight With Europe on 28th March
Dohoho. WANT
I'll skip out on LM2 for this, probably. Are people still playing this game online?
Re: Super Hang-On 3D Speeding Into The Japanese 3DS eShop Next Week
I got this on the Wii VC, except I can't get the hang of it. This game's hard
Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut Leaked By Amazon
This is an excellent game - especially if you like the colour yellow!
I wonder how the gamepad's going to be integrated though

Re: Review: Legend of the River King (3DS eShop / Game Boy Color)
I'm having a lot of fun with this now! The interface took a while to get used to, but the pacing's excellent for a pick-up-and-play rpg
Re: Nintendo Announces Mint White 3DS XL For Japan
This reminds me of that mint DSLite that everyone seemed to have back in the day
I've always disliked that colour though. It looked like a bar of soap

Re: Circle Entertainment Backing the eShop In A Big Way This Year
... Five Dream games?
Anyway, say what you want about Circle's in-house games but they've proved themselves to be pretty reliable publishers who meet deadlines

Re: Ubisoft Devoted Significant Resources to Watch_Dogs After E3 Reveal
Imo, Ubi's done an incredible job in hyping up Watch_Dogs. I can't wait until it's released! Although I can't decide what platform I want it for...

Re: Four Major 3DS Titles Given Australian Release Dates
Most of these titles are basically the same day Europe gets them thanks to our time difference
I'll get Animal Crossing, maybe Mystery Dungeon. I've never been any good at Fire Emblem though

Re: Rayman Legends Challenge Mode Coming Exclusively To Wii U This April
This is a very nice gesture from the creators of the game, hopefully it appeases some of the apparent internet rage Ubi's decision has caused :/
I don't have a WiiU, but for everyone who does have one I'm actually a little envious. Download, and enjoy everyone!

Re: 3DS Has The Potential To Find You A Partner
I was going to do a CNY painting in Colors3D, but I cbb'd. I imagine the same thing will happen for Valentines' Day.
Re: Review: Super C (3DS eShop / NES)
What an edgy tagline you got there haha
Re: Castlevania Is Stalking Onto The 3DS Virtual Console Soon
I was hoping for Belmont's Revenge on Gameboy. If Konami just releases the Castlevania Adventure and nothing more, I will be one sad camper.
Re: Nintendo Download: 7th February 2013 (Europe)
Mega Man 1 ran at 60Hz on the 3DS here, I don't see why the 2nd would be any different
Re: Australian 3DS eShop Gets New Region Specific Section
<3
Nnooo and Endgame are on top of their game right now, I can't wait to see what either of them have in store next
Re: Review: Rapala Pro Bass Fishing (Wii U)
Fishing is one of those genres where realism directly works against the game's fun factor
There have been pretty good ones released in the past, although they've never quite matched the thrill of fishing in real life imo
Re: Pokémon X & Y Catch More Official Artwork and Details
Everyone else probably realised already but my mind was blown all the same: Xerneas's body is shaped like an X, and Yveltal is shaped like a Y!

Looks like a good week, I guess. All the 3ds titles have me interested, although I'd probably have my reasons for disliking all of them :/

man, I'm so stoked for this one. All the people on the forums have sold it for me long ago!
Re: Game of the Month: June 2012 - Pokémon Conquest
That's weird, I saw this game on the shelf today at EB (I'm Australian). I guess we just have messed up release dates...

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th June 2012 (Europe)
Man, australia misses out on both art of ink and samurai sword destiny (T.T)
Good news is that mutant mudds is definitely confirmed for next week! Bad news is that it's $13.50 (T.T)
This entire update has been (T.T) for me
