Re: You Can't Alter The Chest Size Of Female Characters In The Western Version Of Xenoblade Chronicles X

MagicalDreamer

This bothers me as a female gamer. The first thing that bothers me about is that it implies that breasts are somehow inherently 'inappropriate' — something that needs to be censored. It says that the default selected size of breasts are 'appropriate' and anything else isn't — otherwise they'd let you change them, right?

The second thing is that breasts form a part of the female identity from puberty on-wards. By giving us an avatar and letting us customize it, they're asking us to project ourselves onto the avatar and invest in it. The game is a fantasy, but I guess I'd be perverted if I imagine myself as having larger breasts than in real life.

If we had to make some sort of concession on the issue, I think a better solution would have been to make the maximum chest size smaller. That's still problematic, though, because it still says those larger sizes are 'wrong'. I have friends with US DD and higher cup sizes, and they're not pornstars or perverts. Their genetics just decided that they needed a bunch of fatty tissue deposited in their breass.

Re: Review: Yo-Kai Watch (3DS)

MagicalDreamer

I thought the presentation was great and the Yokai was cool, but I just felt like I would enjoy the demo WAY more if I was between the ages of 7 and 12. Makes me wonder if I'd enjoy Pokemon games if I hadn't of come into them as a kid?

Re: Chris Pranger From Nintendo Treehouse Discusses Harsh Realities Of Localisation

MagicalDreamer

I don't think it's wrong to expect Nintendo to act like a big time video game company; It was my impression that they were still a multi-million dollar corporation. How do smaller companies go through the localization process while making a profit, and why can't N do that? It may be that Nintendo has some massive financial bloat in it's localization process that needs to be trimmed down or it's general process reviewed.

I suppose the fellow is speaking freely and off the cuff, but he sounds like he's speaking for a five-guy indie dev team instead of Nintendo..
