If I'm being honest, I think it's a really good port across all three games... If you play them in certain ways lol. For Knight, I didn't experience much performance issues, but in handheld, it's physical graphics are incredibly bad. The opposite is true for the other two games, I think they are really good ports, but they seem better in Handheld than they did in Docked mode for me, for some reason. I think they're honestly worth picking up, I don't think people have been exactly fair on this release, mainly because they haven't (rightfully) checked it out for themselves. Right now, I've put in 15 hours into Knight with only one crash, which is actually less than I did with Tears of the Kingdom on release.
Also, gameplay has so far not been affected in any way, except for handheld Chases in the Bat tank, which I think frankly, considering how Amazing Arkham Knight is technically, is a miracle that's my only issue
Rare made some really good games huh? For me it's gotta be diddy Kong racing because it's genuinely the best kart game ever, it's phenomenal and very underrated to my mind. The other is conker because I know it's reputation... But I want to know how it actually plays lol
Really excited for this one especially. Classic game that I've never played, not too big into point and click adventure games but Ive heard because of how it's structured, moon logic isn't required lmao
@AG_Awesome I've heard people say about grinding for Kotor 2 but I've never ever had to in any of my playthroughs, I feel like you're BUFF enough in Kotor 2 to not need to. (Also as a hint, if you want a free heal, open the menu and use a health kit there, it won't even waste a turn)
@shaneoh they were very obviously pressured to dump it soon considering it was revealed at celebration. Clearly not the Devs fault anyhow (neither of them lmao)
It's odd to see metroid at the top of the world, my entire life I've heard of these old games that Nintendo neglected then suddenly, boom, with one game and one big push for the series, it's been planted as one of Nintendo's most interesting series. I personally think infact, that is it the best series Nintendo has after playing all the main line games now
@wuntyme8 I personally think Kotor is easier to control compared to the insane Jedi games (though I love them too) at the price too, it may be worth the price depending on how much you care about narrative, if you care alot, you may want to risk waiting for the remake, if not, I'd recommend the port, it's a classic in the same way that super Mario Bros is I'd say
Id give it an eight but for different reasons, it is indeed dated but I don't wish to focus on that. I am a fan of biowares past outing Balder's gate and that game constantly engage you in you universe and worlds and new areas, the issue that Kotor has in my opinion is that the individual worlds after Taris are slightly off, good old anchor head is fun and all but it doesn't offer much unless you're interested in sand people lore. Wookie world is just a dungeon. But manaan is my favourite as their is little fighting and the sith homeworld is just a really funny segment I think. Either way, it's a good game but falls short in some aspects, however every issue I have with it is solved in its sequel Kotor 2 the sith lords. I'm hoping it gets ported over, it's my number one most wanted game on switch by miles and miles and miles and miles
@Clyde_Radcliffe NSO is less expensive indeed! but what about when it's no longer supported? we don't own NSO titles, but we do own virtual console games and more importantly, I can buy which i want and one's i dont. For instance, how many nes games do i like? none. how many snes games do i like? I like starfox 2, super punch out, link to the past, super metroid and super mario all stars, If i were to buy them each for any amount on money at all, i will be able to play them and get more value as NSO is limited by time.
This guy is a literal liar, he didn't say anything about megadrive at any point! he's literally lying to our faces and we're letting him get away with it! I honestly hope, just out of spit that GB/GBC games don't come (ignore the fact I brought all the GBC games for my 2ds via the amazing virtual console) just so we can just chuck that guy in the bin and sack him off forever. I genuinely am sick of "leakers" and nintendolife reporting on them because all it does is put money in their wallets and makes us all disappointed or bitter by feeding off of our hopes. it's genuinely pathetic at this point.
@TheFrenchiestFry in my opinion, fallout New Vegas is the best written video game of all time and Kotor is a very good wrpg but it lacks the brilliant writting, world building, world design and Characters like New Vegas does, Kotor is a very good bioware Rpg, but every bioware Rpg feels very similar after that point, i often feel like it struggles to face down its own future compared to other games of the time, but regardless, I consider KOTOR to be one of my favourite games of all time and it's sequel Kotor II to be my favourite game of all time and the best written star wars property of all time and also the second best written game of all time (to my knowledge)
Half the list is lit, the other half is genuinely a joke. How in the name of God is fallout New Vegas not in the top three, it's so rough that it was put anywhere close to KOTOR, that's genuinely brutal and straight up cruel. Also, damn why did they include modern shooters in this list? It's the most vapid genre in the entire industry that peaked in terms of quality with the doom series
@VoidofLight I'm in the camp where i don't think it's shady but dissapointing if it does become PC only, I haven't seen if is gonna be yet or not, but i suspect it won't be considering how successful Chapter one and it's predecessor was
@gloom Toby developed a disability which was major but even bigger, they spent a year trying to develop in a different programming language only to switch back to original but according to Toby, they learned so much from that year of development that for chapter 2 they are building the groundwork that will make development on any coming chapters significantly faster
I've ordered mine with the no more heroes posters too, admittedly, I did do a bit of grinding on fire emblem to be able to afford it. I'm looking forward to them coming. I might even do a challenge or two with it...
@Friendly the suits design, unless it's been a retcon is the new suit from dread so I reckon it At the very least suggests that kraid will be in the game in some compacity and some people would want to discover his existence at all completely blind. I personally don't mind that much, but I am keeping as far as I can from anything else on the off chance
@HotGoomba it's not too much marketing that's the issue, it's too much stuff being shown. The reveal of those two characters in the last trailer (well not the last one but the one before it) really annoyed some People, I didn't even watch the trailer and got croco boy spoiled because I was on nintendos own Twitter spoiling the reveal for me. Its specifically metroid that makes it worse though because the games are about exploration so discovering stuff is a big deal
I've encountered a fair few gliches, mostly graphical, but the load times suck, the sound mixing is awful, the UI chugs, the art style is naff, the invisible walls are insane, the new tracks aren't really my thing, the sound options are both tied together so If I want to listen to the music but not the godawful effects, I have to turn all of it down, the metal sonic mode literally just pops up and once or twice, it kinda looks like he's floating? I'm not entirely sure what's happening in that instance mind you
@Paulo im not sure if links awakening is out of the question for the service because it's already been released and it offers enough (and unfortunately take some steps back too) that they may release it on the service. I hope they do, because I'd love to play both versions of the game but my preference is for the Gameboy colour version
@SPM I'm glad someone's mentioning burnout with the metroid series, I've played every 2d game in the series now and I'm not gonna touch the series again until Dread Because it took me a while to actually play the next one
@1ofUs I agree. I don't like the implications of it, because it would also include stuff like unaltered ROMs for piracy. ROM hacks I personal think are fine and gamefreak doesn't seem too bothered with going after them but ROM hacks are few and far between anyways
@Mips indeed, British health care is largely okay, but depending on how rare certain conditions are or general stress of the NHS can be very very long. Mainly organ transplants. Or if you're trans but that's just the gov being transphobic
The electric cat boi didn't get a nerf? What the heck! Glad gengar/hex and cinderace got a nerf though, I hate seeing them just sweep. Though why is pyroball not nerfed, it was wayyy too strong, when I play her, she crushes people under paw with that thing.
I will be getting it, for the first time, but not right now. i'm just gonna wait for a bit until i feel like I'm ready to play it as i'm very inexperienced with the series. i played through BOTW and loved it and when i was a wee nipper, i played phantom hourglass, i never finished it but it was reallllly good from what i remember (i'm gonna buy a copy soon and play through it to check)
@Ghost_of_Hasashi Cassette tapes came back too. also, Vinyl makes sense to me as to why it suck around, as far as fidelity goes, it grows with the industry, you get a nice piece of art out of it and the experience of sticking a record on is much different from most delivery methods anyways. I don't know why Cassettes came back though, that never made sense to me at all
@Silly_G I agree with you about having the first two games on a cart, i really wanted to get them if they did it in our country for not a horrible price but looks like ill just be getting the standard edition.
also, about what you said about Vinyl, I think you're looking at it from an odd angle, it's just a cool way to listen to music. it's like buying a game on a cart instead of digital, it has a different emotional context to the consumer, if i went out to my local city and purchased a new record on Vinyl, i have a thing in my hands, it is a tangible item to appreciate and apply a different set of emotional responses too. it's far from novelty too, every album cover is a piece of art too, Abby Road for instance is made better for it's iconic cover and seeing it in Vinyl format makes the piece of art stand out much more than a tiny 2 by 2cm square on a screen. also, CD's suck a fair amount
@JimmySpades i think you've nailed it, I didn't buy a Wii u because it looked like ass and I had a 2ds so I couldn't play earthbound and in a way, I still got to take advantage of the virtual console, unlike the switch, the Wii u sold very poorly and the mini consoles allowed for a new audience to be reached for the switch which was just coming over the horizon
As a Pokémon fan, I checked out at sword and shield, it was the final straw, I knew that if gen 4 remakes were announced I wouldn't play them, so when they were announced and looked hysterically ugly (imo) I was very happy. Then legends arceus was revealed and I just went "now I have to buy this." Because it looks on paper like everything I want the series to be, but I'm looking at it now and it is ugly looking because it needs time, I'll very happily eat a two year delay to make it the best game it could be, but gamefreak as a company are so greedy and creatively bankrupt, I'm not sure they will. I thought it was a definite, but however, it's also good to mention that Because this game doesn't have a counterpart, it seems like another step in the right direction. But I think other than Silksong (I'm still holding out hope sisters) this will be the game I keep the closest eye in going for
@COVIDberry to be fair, I think you misunderstood his original comment, while I agree with you saying that people who are harassing the dev don't understand the meaning of the game, this is still gamers and media we are discussing. For instance, he isn't claiming anything about your involvement in the toxicity (which I'll take as to be minimal) the use of the word "microcosm" is only pointing out the problem with internet culture as a whole, not any individuals roll in it. That being said, I disagree with him, the metroid fan base aren't the worst out there, at the moment, I'd say Pokémon are because they are constantly having a civil war, but that's of course subjective, the metroid fan base however is a strange case because they are weirdly always at every announcement complaining about the lack of metroid content but also, their games sell like trash. Gaming fans in general are a bit entitled, in this business unlike any other, they will keep on making games until they don't. We've seen so many Mario's and Zelda's and Lego games and Pokémons and FF and SMT and FNAF and COD, running the entire gambit and for some reason, us as consumers never go "that's enough now, I'm full!" We keep asking for more and more and more and more and it never ends, I genuinely wish Pokémon stopped in gen 5 because everything afterwards hasn't been brilliant, if Pikmin 4 never gets made, we've had 3 really good pikmin games! And why is that a bad thing? Really, metroid, Pokémon, mario and all games are art and what's the point if it only gets made to make money?
As you can tell, I'm not a metroid fan, to be honest, I'm barely a Nintendo fan (of their first party stuff) so I don't see the appeal behind long spanning series, even games like fire emblem, which I love, I only play 3H and binding blade. So maybe I am missing something, but regardless internet culture and gaming culture will keep on cannibalising and cannibalising beloved series' over and over again and these situations will only continue until we realise (this goes for companies too) that their is value in old media and some series dont necessarily need new entries
