have played the kiosk demo of mkw quite a few times now (NOT buying a switch 2 after all the anti-consumer tomfoolery nintendo's done with it) and honestly my time with crossworlds so far has completely blown it out of the water. i haven't even unlocked the highest speed option yet and already it's far more compelling than mkw's intermissions ever were. sometimes keeping it the same as it ever was is a good thing it turns out.
am straight up not bothering! was already really not liking the direction nintendo has taken with this console from an innovation standpoint but the pricing scheme is what i find truly egregious. $120aud for mario kart, surely you're not serious!
my expectations were low but holy f***. truly abysmal. i feel like this sort of excessive customer surveillance has got to be illegal somewhere and really it's just all the more reason to never look back once nintendo stops releasing games for the switch 1
@Galaxy2IsTheGOAT yes, because mario kart 8 deluxe from eight years ago is absolutely swarming with hacks and cheats 🙄 hate to rain on your parade or anything but quite frankly the attempted (and seemingly successful so far) normalisation of the $80 price tag is more than a valid reason not to buy
so if the rumours are to be believed, the physical cases will unnecessarily waste even more plastic than they already did. i suppose that could reflect the switch 2 itself feeling particularly unnecessary right now
honestly i don't think i'll ever understand why hollow knight is so beloved. gorgeous artstyle and everything but i can't remember the last time a game so deeply and fundamentally misunderstood why its inspirations (super metroid being an obvious one) were such incredible experiences to begin with.
rest of the list is pretty solid, would add smash ultimate because of the whole "celebration of games" theme and also mario wonder simply because it really is that good.
pretty much my only hope for nintendo's 2025 is that the next mario kart is a cross-gen title since i'm not particularly keen on the idea of a switch 2 to begin with
this is probably incredibly narrow-minded of me but i seriously cannot take any of the echoes of wisdom hype seriously with that artstyle. i've seen mobile games that are more ambitious and forward-thinking in their visual presentation!
haven't played it (mainly because spending upwards of $700 to play one game is bad economics) but seems like an incredibly deserving win. incredibly funny to me also that nintendo straight-up went home empty handed, i guess that's what happens when you only release full-price bare-minimum remasters for 3/4ths of the year lol
incredibly torn on whether i think it'll be january or march 2025. on one hand, waiting until the absolute last second would be a very nintendo thing to do but even then i can still see them getting it out of the way at the start of the new year especially if they want that super bowl ad space
honestly wouldn't shock me if aus didn't get any preorder bonus at all. haven't seen any for mario party either and that's only a week out from release
have much much more to say about this than i can fit into a simple comment but for the time being i will say i do not think this is at all the gotcha moment nintendo probably thinks it is, and that's not even mentioning the obvious implications of nintendo winning such a lawsuit which would be akin to a kind of mutually assured destruction where the industry ends up devolving into a myriad of game patenting lawsuits, of which nintendo would no doubt be caught in the crosshairs. hope the courts waste no time in throwing out this case not necessarily because i support pocketpair but purely for the sake of the industry at large
this was one of my most anticipated games at the start of the year but then i just didn't really have the money or time for it when it came out and then when the pretty muted word-of-mouth started to hit the game just fell off my radar completely. probably one of the most heartbreaking examples of wasted potential in recent memory, feel bad for the devs who've been caught up in all of this
honestly don't understand the immense vitriol towards even the idea of gaming leaks in these comments. i get thinking it's lame or unethical to a certain extent but if you're really that worried about finding out about a few games a bit early then it might be time to rethink your priorities a little!!! that being said it is very funny that pyoro thought they could just casually reveal their source without that in itself getting leaked, sort of a full circle moment
I genuinely would not have nearly as much of a problem with the sudden influx of full-price rereleases if they weren't literally the only major releases from Nintendo right now. Of the six first-party releases we know of this year only two of them aren't rereleases of some sort, which equates to only one-third. I know we're fast approaching the end of the Switch's lifespan but the imbalance of new-vs-old is throwing me off a ton
honestly at this point it just feels like everyone's throwing whatever they can at the wall and seeing what sticks. i'm not at all interested at the prospect of a new console but even i think it's probably happening this holiday

Re: Nintendo Seeks Injunction And $17,500 In Damages From 'Pirate' Streamer
something deeply ironic about this considering the leaked game in question was a remake of a game that first released 20 years ago

@JCWrites no but even if i did the immensely lacklustre visual style would prevent me from enjoying it at all tbh

if it was a $20 eshop title i'd get it, but at $70 aud i'm almost certainly sticking with the original
