@Blizzia If someone else has mentioned this already, I apologize. There are about 200+ comments on this thread. But, Nintendo said it was for kids... I don't see them being ridiculous or borderline mental, just catering to both the child-friendly and adult demographic by providing the optional functionality of a toy for the younger demographic while more adult-oriented titles are coming in.
I was overjoyed when this was taken down... The game itself is just awful after all! My friend downloaded it to my phone so I tried it, immediately deleted it, took his phone to delete it, told him to get a real game, and continued the process on the phones of friends. Now it'll have a lasting impact. Also, boycott Candy Crush Saga.
@hamispink :If they became third party they would go against what they stood for... QUALITY games on THEIR consoles so that they have the creative liberty to make beautiful games instead of stupid ones like COD (Good graphics doesn't make for a game with long-lasting appeal).
Pachter didn't play cops and robbers; he played lawyer as a kid, and audited his parents. Then he became part of a dating service... and changed his name to G8R for some reason... And then he chose the safest job he could think of; a fake one!
Or... Nintendo can just make a 5-inch, $10-20 version of ROB that operates more rapidly than its predecessor.
They might even be able to hook it up with infrared for both 3DS and Wii U capability.
I didn't provide the "less engaging" claim evidence;
It feels less engaging due to the forced story. It's not the gamer's option to follow the story doggedly and can therefore turn away exploration-oriented and certain casual gamers (like some of the Animal Crossing crowd, for example).
Paper Mario is the kind of game that NEEDS to stay the same. I did enjoy Super Paper Mario, don't get me wrong, but it loses the formula that made it endearing in previous titles. It felt too locked-in for myself.
The classic Mario Bro.'s Platforming doesn't feel that way to me because you don't need to focus on the story, per say, since you are technically following a predetermined path and exploring the crap out of it. When you make it necessary to follow a set path and follow a story, it feels less engaging. When a game is made 3D it becomes "open to interpretation," since the only constant is the story, which isn't forced onto the player (although, players are rewarded for following it with new environments and enemies, weapons and mini-games).
If they made an adult Link, which I don't necessarily hope would happen (but I wouldn't particularly mind if it happened), he would have to be modeled after Daniel Craig. Or Chuck Norris.
Microsoft executives: Wii think that Wii are going to have a better system with better games. Better than U will ever hope to make, find from a third party, or rip off from Nintendo for your "precious" 360. Good day, sir!
I am ashamed of humanity right now. And a little depressed (they can't even make good knock-offs of Kricketune and Purugly). Let's stop this madness; boycott smart phones (I do!)!
@Gioku First of all, people do play pokemon on their iPhone. It's technically illegal, but it is doable by using emulators.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! NO! NO! NO! There's a glitch in the Matrix! Reality is falling apart! WHO AM I! MO-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-M! I DON'T KNOW WHO THIS SCREEN-GRAB FABRICATOR IS, BUT I HAVE A VERY PARTICULAR SET OF SKILLS. I WILL FIND IT, AND I WILL KILL IT... or at the very least, punch through the monitor...
@RR529 : I think the story could have worked, but trying to tell it at the right times in a game is tricky. The log method worked, and quite well; but when all of the story is thrown into a cut-scene instead of told bit-by-bit it ceases to become important (like if you're spoon-fed your school work). The story could have been better, but it was still pretty decent. If Team Ninja was to come back to work on another one, I'd want them to take hints from where Retro succeeded.
@misswliu81: I hated not being able to move or scan in first-person mode; it just felt unnatural.
@accc: I didn't think the controls were that good; they should have used the wii remote.
@SKTTR: Retro didn't kill Metroid. They only made four games, and they were amazing games.
@NintendoLand: The story wasn't half bad in Other M; it was where the story was told that was bad. It was a matter of bad timing; you can't put a cut-scene about your sadness in the middle of an anxious and tense place. It would be like Chuck Norris crying about his puppy that died when he was five while he repeatedly punches a guy in the face in Expendables 2.
The battle with MB was just plain bad. That was the easiest final boss battle in Metroid history; I guess all of the difficulty was saved for the Phantoon battle.
Wait, hold on?@Deviant_Mugen: Did you change that from "Wario" to "Waluigi"? I swear it said "Wario" hours ago when I posted my comment. My head hurts...
Can anyone that posted at the time Deviant_Mugen posted his post help me?
@shinpichu: I've always wanted to see what happened in the waffle kingdom and what happens to princess eclair. Oh, to know the mystery that is Luigi...
@Deviant_Mugen: There is. Have you, perchance, ever played Wario Land? [Edit: Whoops! I thought that said "Wario." I do agree that there needs to be a Waluigi series, but I believe a platformer will weaken the character by making him "just another character with a platformer". He doesn't seem like the character that would do a platformer because he has no story; we can't just throw him into a situation where he's been revealed to be greedy like Wario, or secretly a hero; because his personality needs to be revealed a little bit at a time. He could start the game as just another character until he lands in a bad situation FORCING him to take action; he can't just go outside and say "I'm going to rob a bank today" or "I'll save a princess!" He'll seem foolish and random.]
I like both of the Mario Bros., but there is a character that needs more love; has anyone ever heard of WALUIGI? Does anyone talk about how great he is? Probably not, he's usually just THERE. You'll usually only see him in sports and party games, but you'll see every other character everywhere else! We know virtually nothing about him; which is why we should finally have a reason for his existence! He may be the worst character ever, but we should try to change that with a great Waluigi RPG title; if they gave him a platformer he would become more of a cheesy knock-off character. If the game is good enough we could finally see him step out of the fat shadow of Wario and his tennis racket and become beloved despite his flaws.
Team Ninja is pretty bad at making games. They specialize in FIGHTING games where the most complicated plot is beat everyone and be the winner. They shouldn't work on a game where the plot can actually get pretty deep. The Metroid storyline is supposed to make you think (which is why the stories were told in logs and not a short movie) and scanning to learn every detail (of everything) was part of the fun; I was pretty sad to see that go.
My problem with Team Ninja is they threw out the thinking; they made Other M linear; they put ALL of the story in long cut-scenes;and they made Samus a wuss. I don't mind Team Ninja's involvement as long as they don't do what they did in Other M, and look more towards Metroid Prime as an example. Retro Studios revolutionized the game while still maintaining the original feel of the game; having Samus talk (about her problems) just won't cut it. This isn't a therapy session, so work the emotion into the story so we FEEL the emotion, not SEE it.
Out of all my problems with the game, this one was the most obvious to see; they made the game so that only the scenery seemed realistic. All of the creatures in the Prime games looked natural and made it fun to scope out the well-camouflaged aliens. Team Ninja made the creatures look like cartoon-ish clay-matian figures. Their versions of the creatures were just plain unnatural.
@Gamesake: I don't think it was Yoshio Sakamoto; he wanted her to be portrayed in a certain way and Team Ninja couldn't find a way to make it fit with the "complex" stories they're used to making. Besides, he directed some of the best Metroid games to date; and he supervised the best game trilogy ever (in my opinion), Metroid Prime.
Not sure if I'll get this because I have the original one from the eShop and I seem to only play it on rainy days. It's a good game, though. It's small in terms of playing area, but there is still a lot that can be done in the game.
I'm 16 and I refuse to get any system that isn't Nintendo; and I never leave home without my 3DS. Nintendo is a high-quality brand with fun at the helm; other companies just want to have the best graphics card. Nintendo will always be the one with the innovations and other companies will just steal their ideas by changing it ever so slightly (using your portable device as another controller).
Just a question; HOW IN GOD'S NAME DO YOU GET THE PINK PUZZLE PIECES?!?!?!?!?!?! As far as I'm concerned, I hate trying to get those pieces with every fiber of my being...
Normally games based on television shows are terrible, but this looks (at the very least) decent. I'll probably get it at the bargain bin when I find it there, though (trying to save for WII U!).
They should take the characters that are almost identical (Captain Falcon and Gannon) and kind of make it like a color change. That way all of our favorite characters can join without taking up too much data (possibly). Now that would be cool!
I kind of wish that they would make Ghirahim a playable character, though...
You can already catch Riolu and Tyranitar in Black and White; unless they mean you don't have to beat the game to catch them... but I'm still confused.
