Re: Reminder: This is Your Last Day to Register Products on Club Nintendo

KJ85

@ThomasBW84 Did you see my message to you as well? I wrote a reminder on that topic earlier today on N-club.dk, and several of our users had ponits that could be exchanged for eShop currency. I can only imagine how many users on NintendoLife that may have so as well

Edit; Oops, had not seen your update, but you should probably write more about it. Only for Wii U Premium owners, points earned for every purchase until 31st of December 2014, etc. I find that it helps most people, when explaining in detail

Re: Nintendo's Implementation of Cross-Buy is Surprisingly Generous

KJ85

Well, it is not the first time that Nintendo has been (supposedly unwillingly) generous. Remember the "Gift and Hunt Together Promotion" that NOE had for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate?

In that promotion you would be given a recommendation code for registering a copy of the game with Club Nintendo, and a friend could register a 3DS system and use the code to get their own digital copy of the game. Now if the friend had already set up his/her 3DS system with Club Nintendo upon activating the download code he/she would also be given a recommendation code, and thus free games would be given out indefinitely (as long as someone had unregistered 3DS systems). Now, that was abuse...

Re: Review: Thomas Was Alone (Wii U eShop)

KJ85

@RudysaurusRex Well, maybe I should say that overall I think the game is good (maybe a 7 in here), but never have I come across a game with that significant of a problem with playing from my external harddrive, and I simply have to subtract points for that. It shows that the game have not been optimised good enough for the system, and I have played retail games from the external drive without that kind of a problem.. That is why it ends up being a 3/5 in our score system (we don't give out half points).

In my opinion a game would have to be perfect or nearly perfect to receive a 9/10 score, 7/8 is good, 5/6 are mediore, 3/4 are bad, and 1/2 are just not worth your time.

Re: Review: Thomas Was Alone (Wii U eShop)

KJ85

Just gave this a 3/5 in my review on a Danish Nintendo site. It is unaccepable that it skips frames each time the narrator voice sets in - even though it only does so if you run it from an external harddrive. Besides from that it lacks challenge and it sucks that you can finish levels before the narrator finishes his dialogues, just because the levels are too short..

Re: Poll: Who'll Be Your Main amiibo Buddy?

KJ85

As long as the price is 149 DKK (that's 20 €) in Denmark, amiibo is a no buy here..

With that price it is cheaper for us to buy them from the UK, even though we'll have to pay those 3-4 £ for shipping. That's just plain stupid..

Re: Preview: Using amiibo with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

KJ85

I would love to own some of the amiibo figures, but the price in Denmark is way too high for me to even consider buying any. Somehow the price has magically been set to €20, which is 1.5 times the cost of the Disney Infinity figures in Denmark.

Re: Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley Heading to PAL Regions in Early 2015

KJ85

@willgord Bergsala and Bergsala Lightweight are two different things. They may have the same mother company, but Bergsala Lightweight have been publishing games for a long time. As far as I know, Rising Star Games is even a joint venture between Bergsala and Marvelous, so there's nothing special about this publishing deal..

Re: Mario Kart 8 Update, Mercedes Karts and DLC Pre-Orders Now Live

KJ85

@Jazzer94 Just consider yourself lucky with regard to the pricing of NES VC releases on Wii U. Following the usual convertions by Nintendo they should be £4.5 a piece, but somehow you only have to pay £3.5. It makes no sense when you see that the EU price is €5 for those, and €4 for GB releases on the 3DS, which you are paying £3.6 for in the UK.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Update, Mercedes Karts and DLC Pre-Orders Now Live

KJ85

@Jazzer94 Ok, it just seemed that you were not listening to my arguments. It may be a bad trend that we have just accepted in Europe, but personally, I don't feel cheated here. I paid €47 for the game in May and can now buy all this extra content for €12.

@Sir_JBizzle Usually Nintendo goes with $1 = €1 = £0.9 - or at least they did that for VC releases .)

Re: Mario Kart 8 Update, Mercedes Karts and DLC Pre-Orders Now Live

KJ85

@Jazzer94 Yes it is, but you are still not listening to my arguments if that is your point. You can't just do a simple price convertion.

You have to take into account that salaries in many EU countries are far better than those in the US, and we have pensions, health benefits, social services, and so on that really makes a difference..

Re: Mario Kart 8 Update, Mercedes Karts and DLC Pre-Orders Now Live

KJ85

@Jasser94 I know very well that there is a difference, yeah, but why is everyone saying £12 when in fact it is £11. I personally live in Denmark and think that the $12 to €12 is totally fair taking into consideration the things I mentioned earlier.. The UK price maybe should have been only £10, but that is a quite small difference..

Re: Mario Kart 8 Update, Mercedes Karts and DLC Pre-Orders Now Live

KJ85

Why do we always see people complaining over price convertions?

As far as I know US prices are always listed without taxes, but that is already included in UK and EU prices. Add to that, that the wages in Europe are generally higher than in the US. No one is being cheated in my opinion..

Re: Mario Kart 8 Still Competing in Nordic Region Charts, Tomodachi Life Never Has

KJ85

Just to make you all aware of the situation, there are far better Nintendo games released this year that also never sold enough to make it to the chart.

The only two Nintendo games that made the cut are Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze and Mario Kart 8.

Tropical Freeze debuted at 8, fell to 16 the next week and then disappeared.

Mario Kart 8 is doing a lot better; debuting at 2, falling to 3 the next week, and still holding 12th place in its 7th week on the market.

That only two Nintendo games has been able to chart is disappointing, but it also demonstrates that handheld gaming has primarily moved on to phones and tablets in our region.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Still Competing in Nordic Region Charts, Tomodachi Life Never Has

KJ85

@SkywardLink98 Ok, I just thought that the ads were shown on more TV channels in the US.

But I still can't remember the last time i saw a Nintendo ad in Denmark, which kind of says it all. Targeting only kids with their marketing seems wrong, when the typical console gamer is actually 20 to 30 years old.

Playstation is by far the most popular in Denmark, and I see why. They are sponsoring the Champions League football tournament and is putting an effort into marketing towards an older audience. And you know kids want to play what their older brothers and sisters (or maybe even their parents) are playing - and for most that is definitely not Nintendo, because "they only make kiddy games", as every non-Nintendo gamer would say it.

Us playing the games know otherwise, because fact is that many Nintendo games are actually more challenging than those generic shooters put on the competing systems.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Still Competing in Nordic Region Charts, Tomodachi Life Never Has

KJ85

I'm from Denmark as well, and spend a lot of time on the Danish Nintendo community, n-club.dk , but no one really has seemed to show interest in the game on that site.

Personally I don't see Tomodachi Life and Animal Crossing as games, as they have no real goals and just goes on forever, and I don't see the point in that. But that's just personal opinion.

The biggest problem, however, seems to be that most people in Denmark have no interest in Nintendo anymore. Mostly when visiting game stores, I do not see kids wanting Nintendo games - they want the newest shooter for their PS/Xbox systems and parents will let them have it, because that is what everyone else their age are playing as well.

Besides that, the marketing is just awful. We don't see any commercials at all for Nintendo products on prime television. Instead it's hidden on children shows channels and in weekly Disney magazines. There's no effort to target commercials at a broad audience, and hence they are losing most people that grew up on Nintendo - they simply don't know about their new systems.

Re: Nintendo of Europe Confirms Upcoming Game Boy Advance Wii U Virtual Console Releases

KJ85

The pricing is definitely way too high this time - well it always is on VC releases, but this time it's worse.

So far, for VC releases you have been able to predict the price from the Japanese release. 100 Yen became 1€ /$ for Europe and the US repectively, and with that relationship the GBA games should have been 6.5€. I know it is not much of a difference, but it's better than €6.99.

Re: Level-5 Has No Plans To Launch The eShop Version Of Inazuma Eleven In The UK

KJ85

I had the pleasure of reviewing this game for a Danish Nintendo site, and with no past experience with the series I took my time to read up on the different releases.

The new eShop version is based on the one in the Japanese retail collection Inazuma Eleven 1,2,3!, but the DS version released in Europe was build upon the interface from the original Inazuma Eleven 2, and thus was different from the Japanese version in it's content. The European DS version of Inazuma Eleven has an extra tournament to participate in after finishing the main game, and this tournament is not in the new eShop version as it was not part of the original Japanese version. There are also other differencenses between the European DS version and this new version - for example some changes was originally made to the European DS version regarding the stat boost you get from nearby players..

On topic, it's just as strange for me in Denmark to see football changed to soccer as it is is for people in the UK, so I really don't see the point in the arguments of Level-5 either.

Re: Nintendo Still Working On Bringing Game Boy Advance Titles To 3DS Virtual Console, Says Natsume

KJ85

Personally, I think Natsume is being misinterpreted a little. We know that Nintendo plan to make GBA games available on Wii U, and they have been pretty clear that the GBA ambassador games will not become available to other 3DS owners.

Nowhere in this quote from Natsume does it say that the GBA games will come to 3DS, but I understad why it could be interpreted in that way.

Re: Review: Jett Rocket II - The Wrath of Taikai (3DS eShop)

KJ85

I have done a review of this game as well for a Danish website. Here is my translated conclusion...

Conclusion: Jett Rocket II is a mediocre platform game, or rather an extremely pretty, mediocre platform game. Unfortunately, the game experience never reaches the level of the graphics, and since Shin’en moves in both 2D and 3D platforming without mastering any of the categories it all ends as a somewhat flat experience, with the boss fights probably being the best content of the game. A higher tempo and more content in the empty 3D stages could have done much but sadly, that was not meant to be. Overall, you should be able to find just enough happiness from the experience to justify the 9 € price tag, however, it is not a must have and you can easily find better platform games on the 3DS eShop. (Score: 3/5)

I mostly agree with things mentioned in this review. The 3D levels are the worst but the 2D levels is not great either - one reason being a total lack of difficulty curve. Third level you encounter has some of the most challenging sections while later levels can be very easy.

Re: Review: Wii Party U (Wii U)

KJ85

I found the following text on the US website for the game:

"To experience everything in Wii Party U, you'll need additional Wii Remote™ Plus controllers."

Can anyone confirm, that it actually has to be the Plus-controllers?

Re: Super Mario 3D World Producer Teases New Annoucement

KJ85

Another reason why I'm convinced that it's Majoras Mask 3D is that the only thing out of Grezzo since the two enhanced Zelda ports of 2011 is the newly released StreetPass Garden. Surely they are working on a new Nintendo project, and with a perfect job on Ocarina of Time 3D, why leave the job to others?
