A good week for Europe. I will pick up SS2 sometime later as I have no money for Wii points. My girlfriend also wanted a Wii-mote and a classic controller. I think you all can guess who had to pay for that.
This only shows that Nintendo has no respect for third party publishers/developers and no respect at all for their customers. If only Nintendo could get some competition in this area. Sadly MS and Sony only wants you to rent movies on their consoles.
I think there's another twist to this matter that no one here has mentioned. We all know that company X owns the rights to a certain game (X=any publisher for example Capcom). The easiest way for Nintendo to get hold of old games and publish them on the VC is to make a license agreement with company X. A license agreement always involves a contract. When two companies makes a contract there's always some negotiation concerning the details in the contract. I'll bet some money that one clausal in that contract is that the company in question doesn't say anything about a specific release date. Now this is what happened: 1. Capcom knows that Mega Man is going to be released i August. Either they have a specific date from someone at Nintendo or (more likely) they have talked to someone at NoA that didn't really know but gave them a date anyway. 2. NoA already has a timetable for the VC. The games above were supposed to be released on august the 4th and nothing else. 3. Capcom talks wide and loud about their Mega Man release (which isn't coming but they don't know that, yet). 4. NoA hears what Capcom is saying and takes action.
You see, one of those clausal in the contract said that if the company in question talked wide and loud about a release date they would be sued.
5. Thats what NoA's lawyers did. They called up Capcom and said "WTF are you doing? Take that away or we will sue your * off".
So there you have it. My theory, and a wall of text
This isn't good at all (not talking about the games here). If Nintendo keeps **'ing up like this the publishers will loose their patience and start saying no to releasing games on the VC. Nintendo needs to change their attitude or the VC will be a very short story.
SNK will release games on both VC and disc. They want those dollars as bad as Nintendo. If they can make money on both the VC and the usual retail system they will. I actually can't see any contradiction in this. As stated above, a disc collection of Metal Slug didn't stop them from releasing it on the VC. As a matter of fact, Metal Slug is still on the top 10 most downloaded games (EU).
Can everybody here stop whining?! We get a three game week. We get two Neo Geo games and we get the Nintendo Channel. For the past 20 years Europe has gotten everything last. Europe didn't get all titles and the prices of games where high. Now Nintendo seems to favor Europe and you have the guts to complain?! Shame on you!
Chrono Trigger won't come unless Square-Enix changes their policy. Super Mario RPG i a bit uncertain. Wasn't it rated for a while and then it was not? I think they are going to do something like Dr. Mario with Super Mario RPG, in other words a WiiWare product. I want to see Super Mario All Stars on the VC. It will turn up, eventually. But I don't think we are going to get it until 2009-2010.
As many others here already have said, Last Ninja 2! Except that I would really like to see the following: Wizard of Wor - A fantastic 2 player game Flimbos Quest - Comments unnecessary IK+ - Same here... H.E.R.O. - Just brilliant Commando - A classic
I didn't buy it either! But I only own 4 of those 20 titles. So I guess I'm not a typical European customer.
@Kelvin: I find it hard to believe that third party companies should draw out at this moment. I think that Nintendo's lawyers has those companies bound to the VC by a contract that's very hard to pull out from. At least for the next year or two.

Those answers comes as no surprise, really.

Re: Mega Man Finally Out On Monday In USA
Awesome week for the U.S! NoE needs to step it up so they can top this!
Re: The Mascott speaks about the Virtual Console!
This guy is cool. He should do more of those analysis.
Re: Ys Book I & II Released in US Next Week
When are these great games coming to Europe? I want them now!
Re: OFLC Update: Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Can't remember playing this on the Amiga. Guess I'll pick it up when it reaches the VC.
Re: EU VC Update - International Karate +
IK+ is a classic, no less. I haven't played the other two games but the Turf Masters seems interesting.
Re: Top 10 Shmups We Want To Come To The Virtual Console
I want to see Hellfire for the MegaDrive. Blazing Star looks interesting, can't wait to try that one out.
Re: Metroid
A must have. This is one of those classic titles for the NES.
Re: EU VC Releases - 11th July - Neo Geo Duo
I really hoped for IK+, better luck next time. I might check out Ninja Commando as I like those kind of games.
At all the people whining: Those games (Nintendo exclusive titles) you want so bad will come, just wait and see.
Re: Mega Man 2
This is an absolute must if you consider yourself a gamer.
Re: Castlevania
A classic!
Re: Last Ninja 2: Back with a Vengeance
Childhood memories!
Re: EU VC Releases - 13th June - The Last Ninja 2, Alex Kidd and more!
This is more like it! Keep up the good work Nintendo!

Re: Only Geeks And Otaku Want Extra Storage On The Wii
Here's some more text from the interview.
http://www.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/article.php?id=4453
This guy is just down right stupid. The hardcore gamers are the ones who spend money on Nintendos products and games..
Re: Only Geeks And Otaku Want Extra Storage On The Wii
Laurent Fischer needs to quit his job, now!
Re: EU - 6th June - No Virtual Console Games!
Now it's ok to whine! No VC game! This sucks... I could have accepted only one game but no game at all! This is ridiculous!
Re: Super Mario Bros.
One of the best games there is.
Re: Ninja Combat
I do hope we get this to Europe soon!
Re: Ninja Commando
I want this, now!
Re: EU VC Releases - 30th May - Samurai Shodown
@Demon212 You're right as usual. How could I be so stupid?
More important, will you do a video review on Samurai Shodown?
Re: EU VC Releases - 30th May - Samurai Shodown

Re: Mercs
Me want this!
Re: EU VC Release - 23rd May - Paradroid
@diablos79 There is a lot of people who cares about C64 games. It's about gaming and gaming history. Graphics isn't all you know...
@Rapadash6: Nintendo and the other console makers have been doing this to Europe for 20 years. I think you can stand one week.
Re: Square-Enix Changes Its Mind About The Virtual Console?
After reading this statement by Square-Enix I'm sure we won't get anything on the VC. Let alone Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger.
Re: Gate of Thunder
Good game but not as good as Soldier Blade.
Re: Super Mario World
A fantastic platformer and one of the best games for the SNES.
Re: EU VC Releases - 9th May - Metal Slug and More Imports
This is great! More imports and a four game week, at the same time! This is the way to go Nintendo. Now I'm only waiting for Star Parodier.
Re: Super Castlevania IV
One of the best games I have played so far.
Re: The Last Ninja
A good game but the controls needs to get used to.
Re: Final Fight
Not as good as Streets of Rage 2.
Re: Star Parodier and other imports in the next Hanabi festival
This is good new indeed! I will download Star Parodier, Glay Lancer and Puyo Puyo 2 as soon as they arrive.
Re: EU VC Releases - 2nd May - The Hanabi Festival Returns!
Three games and all imports. This is more like it Nintendo! Keep 'em coming!
Re: RPG Titles Dominate Nintendo Power’s Most Wanted List

Re: EU VC Releases - 25th April - The Last Ninja
A three game week and The Last Ninja is included! This is great news! Refill those Wii-points and press play on tape!
Re: Top 10 C64 games wanted on the Virtual Console
As many others here already have said, Last Ninja 2! Except that I would really like to see the following:
Wizard of Wor - A fantastic 2 player game
Flimbos Quest - Comments unnecessary
IK+ - Same here...
H.E.R.O. - Just brilliant
Commando - A classic
Check out this compilation for more C64 games!

Re: International Karate
One of the best games ever!
Re: EU VC Releases - 28th March - Commodore 64 and Nintendo 64!
Yes! This is great news indeed. I'm happy that the C64 is going live on the VC, a great machine with many great games.
Re: Ninja Gaiden
Incredibly hard!
Re: F-Zero
A fun game but hard. It takes some time to master the controls. Once you do that you're in for some furious racing!
Re: Virtual Console Top 20 - March 2008 (EU)
I didn't buy it either! But I only own 4 of those 20 titles. So I guess I'm not a typical European customer.
@Kelvin: I find it hard to believe that third party companies should draw out at this moment. I think that Nintendo's lawyers has those companies bound to the VC by a contract that's very hard to pull out from. At least for the next year or two.

Re: EU VC Release - March 21st - Sega Week - Mega Turrican
Just one game this week but it's a Turrican game so I forgive Nintendo, and it's Mega Turrican none the less! I'll download it first thing tomorrow.
Re: Talking Point: The State of Play of the Virtual Console
Maybe a Facebook group would do the trick?
A group that want Nintendo to release more than two games a week.
Anyone joining me?
