Re: Round Up: Everything Announced At The Game Awards 2022 - Every Game Reveal And Trailer

Overall, TGA 2022 wasn't too bad. It definitely wasn't great.
Pros:
Decent variety of games covered in the World Premieres.
Seeing well-known and recognizable members of the Gaming Industry, as well as some famous celebrities presenting awards.
Cons:
Chris Judge with that LONG acceptance speech.
The fact that some games were nominated for or won some categories they don't necessarily fit into compared to other nominations (God of War: Music, Accessibility; Eldin Ring: RPG are my examples)
God of War: Ragnarok, while I have no doubt must be a great game (no I haven't played it, but I'll say it) must have "bought" some wins from The Game Awards. It is less than a month old compared to most other nominations. If it had won Game of the Year, we would've lost our minds.
That all being said, TGA is a good thing, but I feel it can be out of touch with the gaming community as a whole sometimes.

Hmm... This whole thing makes me want to come up with an idea for a Video Games Industry kind of Monopoly game... Where you go around making "acquisitions" and become the biggest video game company and make the most profit... But that's as far as I actually want to see happen in real life. I think Nintendo has the right mindset; Sony and Microsoft need to chill and step back from acquisitions and focus on quality gaming (which seems to be shrinking more and more each day...)

Actually, there are several steps that can be taken to stop scalping:
1. Limit the amount that can be sold per customer.
2. Have anti-bot software in place to prevent auto-bot purchases and digital currency scams.
3. Require product registrations to ensure a customer who buys a product receives said product and it doesn't end up somewhere else, like in a warehouse or thrown in a pit with other packages (like that pile of FedEx boxes in Alabama). Sony did something similar with my son's PS5, he got it directly from the source.
4. Passing legislation preventing the resale of anything above its original MSRP within at least 90 days of release (both before and after!).
These are just some of the suggestions I have thought of during the TCG shortage we recently had.

Re: Talking Point: Will Nintendo Abandon The Switch Concept For Its Next Console?

Jersa7Darkangel

While the Switch is currently booming in the games market, I feel Nintendo still needs to boost their efforts to equalizing the Switch to the current market. In other words, Make the Switch better instead of moving forward. Right now their Nintendo Online Service is lackluster in terms of network service quality and their emulation can't even rival, much less surpass those made by fans. The Expansion Pass is great for those who play Animal Crossing or Retro Games but leaves the rest of us desiring more for the hefty price tag. Nintendo has always been about quality, and they need to live up to it.

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60

"They'll pay much more than that if pre-orders of the Special Edition and the accompanying amiibo pack are anything to go by."
ALSO,
"Metroid Dread is already topping Amazon's "Best Sellers" chart, so ironically the plentiful supply of this upcoming game should keep resale prices sensible. At least once it has been released."
Have the moderators checked to see if these numbers represent legit pre-orders/sales and not SCALPERS? Because if so, then it's fine, I'd call that fairly accurate. But if not, please reconsider basing your opinions on unverified purchases/number of pre-orders due to bots. We lower-tier gamers get enough crap dealing with not having enough product thanks to scalpers, we don't need articles inadvertently supporting them. If these pre-orders/sales were indeed made by REAL gamers, I'll retract my opinion.
