This and Paper Mario were games I got for my birthday. Which would be letting me loose in the store looking at covers and picking one because it looked cool.

I don't recommend MUA3 to anyone. It would've been a suitable sequel if it came out a couple years after 2. It disappointed me heavily. I guess it's worth it for like 20 bucks but it is not worth the 60 dollar price tag

One of my big regrets is selling my Virtual Boy. I didnt realize how rare they were as a kid. I traded it for a GBA when I was super young.

The only things I held on to from my childhood are my Pokemon cards, which I consolidated to only keeping the holographics. And my Super Nintendo with all the games I used to play and some rare ones that I come across and buy to build the collection. There's a couple thousand dollars worth of stuff there but I don't think I would ever have the heart to sell them.

I wouldn't even go as far to clean the SNES alone I feel like the yellowed look adds to the memories

@YoshiAngemon I went to school for Flash animation. I will be mourning the death of flash pretty strongly. I still find Flash to be a superior 2D design application to illustrator or photoshop. Probably just because it's what I started with. I still use it for tracing and text placement

I'm surprised Nintendo is letting this on their Eshop to be honest.

I feel like they are making a horrible business decision by making all these cool controllers powered by AA batteries.

I bought it yesterday. After reading Blood Sweat and Pixels. Great book, cant recommend it enough

@VinylCreep Doom was on Super Nintendo as well so 3 different Nintendo consoles have had Doom games. Has way more of a connection than Bayonetta, which is an oversexualized character that people would say isnt Smash material if she wasnt already in the game.

@Yosher Doom is one of the most influential video games of all time. Doomguy definitely belongs in Smash. They would have to tone down some elements sure but the same could be said for Master Chief.

@Trajan Thatd be a great way to announce Crash if it does end up happening. Instead of throwing the guy in the mascot suit out they hand him the Smash envelope.

This is great for many reasons. Pokemon was starting to become like Madden in that they had no competition so they got lazy. If you love Pokemon this is one of the best things that could happen. Now they have to try to compete rather than being the only show in town. Think about how good WWF was when they had real competition and how stagnant it became after they bought WCW. Competition is always a good thing.

Also Pokemon was not an original idea when it first came out. They just did it better than the predecessors.

@RupeeClock Sure it could easily be a guess. More often than not "leakers" are no more than lucky guessers. I just am inclined to believe him or her because no one else was predicting Byleth. It was Arle, Sora, Kos-Mos, Crash, Steve, Doomguy and Master Chief from pretty much every other "leaker". I could be totally wrong but for what it's worth i believe this leaker is actually valid.

@RupeeClock if the guy predicted byleth I would be inclined to believe him.

@Varkster I'm not really that salty about the Smash thing I just knew the jokes were inevitable. Weird one to end it on though. If they would've announced Banjo last it probably would've been way better for Western reception. But that's only in the west I'm sure Japan was way more thrilled by Byleth

If you told me Toad wasn't playable 21 yr later I would say words that would've got me grounded back then.

I only have a Switch. I fell out of gaming for a little while because I rarely had the time to sit down and play. The Switch was an absolute godsend for me and the only console I need. Graphics are so far down my list of priorities when it comes to what i think is a good game

Doomguy for Fire Emblem

I'm good on anything Fire Emblem for a minute. The Warriors games are good though just too much work.

Is that game any good? Looks interesting and game freak made it. Also wow a CD I haven't used one of those in ages.

I could see this game doing very well on Playstation for people that never got to play BOTW.

Surprised Geno, Crash or Spyro arent on this list. They seem to pretty popular in fan polls. As a weird choice I would want an Oddworld representative (probably Abe), or Slippy from Star Fox.

Beyond BOTW being a good game its importance to the Switch being a runaway success can't be understated. For a good half a year BOTW was one of the only truly great games available for Switch. I remember people calling the Switch a "Zelda Machine" before Odyssey or other 1st party games came out. Without Breath of the Wild the Switch could've had a very much smaller impact than it did... at least in 2017

It saved Nintendo's reputation after the WiiU debacle and rumors of Nintendo just being a game developer. For that we owe the game all the praise humanly possible.

@Kalmaro I have nieces and nephews I know it's still huge. Its not even a bad game just has a kiddy reputation which makes sense.

Imagine how pissed people would be if the next Smash fighter was just a Fortnite avatar with skins as the alts. People would riot. Although it would make sense for the conventions of Smash. Your UP B could be the glider, your SIDE B would be a variety of different gun attacks, your down B could be a pick axe swipe. I hate that it works but it would work pretty well in theory.

After Pokemon Go and Miitomo in previous weeks I congratulate you for writing a game of the decade article worthy of being taken seriously. I understand you guys couldn't just do 10 articles about BOTW but really? Pokemon Go and Miitomo as games of the decade is ridiculous.

It would be cool if Break the Targets or a new Smash Run was part of the direct. Break the targets was very instrumental in me learning characters I dont usually use.

I remember frantically calling stores to find a switch on the first day they were out. I sweet talked the girl on the phone into setting one aside for me.

Pokemon Go would get my award for "Biggest Let Down of the Decade" not trying to be mean here. Its just not what it could've been and the wasted potential prevented me from ever getting into it.

I do appreciate that it got old people into Pokemon that's been very cool being able to talk to grandmas about the Pokemans.

@Trajan the rights are just a cluster_____. Microsoft owns Rare and 007 is notoriously expensive to license. Never heard that they tried to remake it that's encouraging. I know Perfect Dark is basically Goldeneye but it's still not the same without the maps and guns.

Sad that Goldeneye has no chance to ever get re-released. Would be so fun to play online when the inevitable Nintendo Online N64 games come. I could see a lot of Oddjob trolls with online though. In home games it's generally understood that Oddjob is off limits. Maybe they would just remove him. Either way it isnt gonna happen

Rillaboom is most likely for smash for sure. I think the 5th fighter is gonna be Doomguy. I feel very strongly that Doomguy will be the new fighter

Munch's odyssey is almost a guarantee. Love Oddworld. Used to live in the town of their original headquarters. They had just shut down operations about a year before I arrived there. Glad it's still going in one way or another
