The Sonic the Hedgehog movie is rapidly approaching and a number of complete scenes are starting to find their way online. If you want a sneak peek at the film before you head off to the cinema, sit back and enjoy these clips.
We start with this one, where Sonic confronts Dr. Robotnik and kicks his friends off the roof of a super-high building. As you do.
Next up, Fluffy Sonic!
And finally, a scene called 'This One is Cute', where Sonic and Tom find themselves in a pretty sticky situation.
What do you think? Are you enjoying the humour? Do you think Sonic's redesign is looking good? The film arrives in theatres on 14th February - so that's just a couple of weeks away!

The Mario Bros movie was better.
That Ben Schwartz voice sucks. Clips are boring. BUT MAN OH MAN is James Marsden aging well, Cyclops should be in better stuff than this.
@JHDK Mario movie TRIES to be something not generic. Dinosaurs in Bladerunner is neat.
Omg this is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen.
Oh god please stop hawking these dumb videogame movies. You know they're gonna suck anyway. Especially that ignorant Uncharted movie that's never going to happen. If i wanna spend time in these worlds I'll play the games thanks!
My hype is immeasurable
Movie still looks mediocre. I thought it would be one of those so bad it's fun but then they made that redesign. Honestly a redesign cant save poor writing. Also just because Jim Carey is in it dowsnt mean the writing of his character is good
I can't bring myself to watch any of these clips but judging from what everyone else is saying, the redesign may have ironically made it even less watchable than it could have been since you can't laugh at the forsaken hybrid creature they had at first so now we are just stuck with really middle of the road humor that was left intact during the film's delay. This was going to disappoint in one way or another no matter what filmmakers did.
A fully CGI adventure with some creative writers at the helm would have been welcomed. As it stands, I'm not sure I want to risk a couple of precious hours on this. Maybe a 10 minute, spoiler filled review with run down on Easter Eggs (if applicable). Kudos to the design team for altering Sonic though. I quite like Ben Schwartz - he's great in Parks & Rec.
That looks so bad and stupid
@Ralphio me too. Looks like the kind of film I can chuck on a lazy sunday afternoon with my kids and just stuff my fat face on snack and slob out to. That's good enough for me.
Sonic looks a bit jarring in the scenes and it does not look as natural as Pikachu did in Detective Pikachu in the real world.
That said I will give it a watch.
Reminds me of the Smurfs movie. Clearly this is aimed at 10 y.o. audience.
I'm not saying it's bad. Just not for me.
The only crime I see here is the attempted revival of the phrase "NAILED IT". Everything else looked decent. Not oscar-worthy, but decent.
A movie nobody asked for...
Hopefully 16-bit Tom is a playable character in Sonic Mania 2
Wow. A lot of you guys literally are just trying as hard as you can to hate it
I have to agree that these movie clips are not exactly meeting the hype that the second trailer gave off.
Jim Carey at least seems funny again. Still think Bryan Cranston would’ve made for a better Dr. Eggman
Looks absolutely awful; I’ve no interest in seeing this rubbish. I’m saddened to see Marsden and Carrey being cast in such an awful project.
Have they learned nothing from HOP, Woody Woodpecker and other terrible flicks?
Despicable.
@MegaVel91 I'm just rather indifferent to it.
Yes, I'm prejudging a bit but after that first trailer in addition to the hordes of other failed live-action/C.G. animated comedies, it's hard to be optimistic.
Seriously!! Like all this hate for Sonic. I swear some people just love to hate. Does it look like an award winning movie? Absolutely not. It looks fun enough though. I think Ben does an excellent job capturing that punk like attitude of Sonic. And who knows, if there's enough support maybe we'll get some solid sonic gaming material out of this.
@Zeldafan79 It actually looks decent, and look, Detective Pikachu didn't suck.
You must brown-tinted glasses.
Looks good. Gonna give it a watch when it comes on dvd
So far, the film doesn’t look too bad. But it does look really stupid. Not hating on it, it just looks like a stupid fun movie that’s all. I’ll just wait for reviews on this movie. I know people don’t trust critics, but sometimes reviews can be helpful before seeing a movie.
@Smashfan502 James Marsden has been in stuff before though. So if this does bad it is a bad career move.
Stop with these "live action" adaptions. They are ugly and completely unappealing.
Or rather, I have zero interest. I am annoyed that junk like this gets all the coverage while real animation which can be so much more interesting, has been basically abandoned by western movie studios...
If the first one didnt come out I feel like people would be way more positive. It's hard to ignore that abomination though
@Smashfan502 never seen 7 replies in a single comment. That's dedication
@MegaVel91 agree you cant please everyone these days and they go straight to judging things without seeing it first granted it kind of does look cheesy but no where near as bad as these hater claim it to be.
@Smashfan502 I stand by my statement
I like how Sonic the Hedgehog says, “uh-oh, that’s not good!” when he appears to find himself in something of a cleft stick. I appreciate it when the lead character uses this line in response to unfavourable circumstances to draw attention to the direness of the situation, heightening the sense of relief when they proceed to resolve matters by way of their cunning, ingenuity and skill.
It can be considered a classic movie moment, alongside such iconic comic set pieces such as the lead character claiming to have “NAILED IT!” in response to a situation they believe to have resolved with a high degree of success, only to have their shortcomings highlighted soon after as an oversight leads to unintended consequences, causing the situation to suddenly and comically take a turn for the worse. This serves to highlight the vulnerabilities of lead’s slapdash approach to disaster management, and helps keep to the freewheeling, happy-go-lucky disposition of the lead character in check, making them more relatable as a flawed being.
Regarding the Sonic Movie’s effortless implementation of these two highly effective pieces of script-writing, I can only say they NAILED IT! And to include a fish as a comic prop is to be applauded. Fish are such an inherently humorous organism that their inclusion requires no justification.
@Heavyarms55 "Real animation."
All animation is valid. Get off your high horse.
@MegaVel91 I'm not on a high horse. It's just my opinion and I am very much entitled to it. Sorry if you don't like the idea, but designing a 3D model and animating it isn't the same kind of thing as traditional animation, painstakingly and diligently animating frame by frame with gorgeous hand drawn art and virtually no uncanny valley because everything is done in one consistent art style - that is real animation to me, and it's beautiful! Second to that, video games that animate everything in one, consistent, style is great too.
Shoving CG 3D models into live action films is ugly to me. I really dislike it - it generally only works when all you see on screen is animated that way. Action scenes in the Marvel movies or battles in Star Wars when everything on screen is animated.
By comparison, stuff like this just looks bad to me. Be it Detective Pikachu, Sonic or that cringe-worthy scene in Avengers End Game with Hulk in the restaurant being so obviously not really there...
If other people like it - that's on them, I can tolerate it in sometimes, but I'm not gonna hide my opinion that I think it would be much better to have fully animated films or not at all.
Another comparison I would like to make is, again, Marvel, how whenever there is a serious scene breaking up the action, they either take Iron Man's helmet off, or show his face inside it. They rarely focus on Hulk as Hulk outside of action unless absolutely needed, and even had Vision assume a human appearance to avoid that uncanny valley. And this is a major studio with an enormous operating budget and access to the best CG animators in the business.
Yikes, Sonic looks like he's got a really bad clipping mask - like the early days of filming with a green-screen
Idc what anyone says.im honestly pretty excited to see the movie
I personally won't be watching any of the teaser trailers since I don't want any part of this movie spoiled for me. I just came here to comment how excited I am for this one!
Yeah, i'm gonna skip this
Might pick it up if its cheap down the road and watch it once.
I'd rather see an all CGI movies with sonic and TAILS and no humans .
And without CGI video game characters awkwardly shoved in to a "real world".
So, can anybody tell me about a video game adaptation that was actually halfway decent ?
Other then Mortal Kombat. ( everybody looked like they were supposed to look, acted like themselves and followed the actual game plot. )
Doom wasn't Doom.
Least said about Mario Bros the better.
Assassins Creed was...something.
Dungeon Siege probably killed the parent franchise.
And the Tomb Raider movies were ...eh.
@Heavyarms55 Your opinion is objectively wrong though, because you are speaking to the "realness" of a thing being based off of "if you like it or not." All animation is real animation. You could say something feels MORE or LESS real to you, but that's it.
@KitsuneNight Detective Pikachu was really good. Not the best movie ever, but really good.
@Bondi_Surfer The fluffy Sonic? Yeah I was thinking that too. Let's ask Corridor what they woulda done differently, lol.
@Dang69 I'm not wrong, but I used poor wording. I apologize for implying that it is "not real". But it's certainly not the same, nor do I acknowledge it as equal.
It's also impossible for an opinion to be "wrong". A person can be wrong about facts but opinions are just like anus, everyone has them and they aren't special, but they are never "right or wrong".
@Heavyarms55 I've done both types of animation. Both of them are hard. Both of them are painstaking and require an eye for detail and subtlety. Both require hours upon hours of work. 3D isn't some "I press a magic button and it's done" process any more than 2D is, and it's no less "real" or "animation" than 2D.
So speaking from objectivity: you are wrong, and how dare you put down the work of those effects artists.
@MegaVel91 Doesn't matter how many times you say it. Opinions cannot be "objectively wrong" and I don't like or find 3D models and animation as impressive or appealing traditional 2D animation. "How dare you put down those artists?" I dare. Just like anyone else who likes or dislikes something. That's life and if you take that as a "put down" honestly, at this point, I don't really care.
Sorry if that pisses you off or something. But, not that much honestly.
@JHDK Hahaha. Super Mario Bros movie was the worst film and a failed! Nonsenses movie! This is going to be the best film of all time.
@MegaVel91 cripes you’re a whiny child. Do you ever think before you speak/type? Get a life.
