If you've been alive for the past couple of decades, you've probably, at some point, dreamed of packing it all in, throwing your phone and computer into a lake, moving to a cottage in the forest, and living off the land. We're with you, friend.

The video game equivalent of that is eschewing modern photorealistic games that are all five exciting shades of brown, and instead playing and making new games that draw from the experiences of our childhood. Restless Soul, like many before it, has chosen to ditch the third dimension and combine Pokémon, Earthbound, and Paper Mario to create a 2D-3D black-and-white adventure with plenty of fourth-wall-breaking comedy.

Here's the synopsis:

"In RESTLESS SOUL, players take command of the latest soul to arrive in the afterlife, but who needs to take care of some unfinished business back in the land of the living. Using their ghostly reflexes to survive bullet-hell lite battles and intelligence to solve challenging puzzles, players must find a way to return to escape Death, the evil Dr. Krull, and an army of spirits."

It's coming out on September 1st, 2022, for $14.99 on the Nintendo Switch eShop and Steam.
