Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Try to Recapture 'Hardcore' Gamers?

EdEN

Harcore and Casual are PR Bullsh*t terms made up to rally up the fanboys and wrongly label people. I've been playing games ever since the Pong machines that existed a while back. Played everthing from platformers and FPS to DDR and Guitar Hero. I play Wii Fit, Cooking Mama and Brain Age while also playing Final Fantasy XIII, God of War III and CoD games... so what am I exactly? A casual hardocore? A Harcore casual? Puuuure BS.

Re: As Predicted, Wii Drops to £99 in UK Today

EdEN

Ok, let's make things clear. There's over 70 games on Wii worth playing. Once you're over those, I can think of a list of 50 VC games and 70 Wiiware ones to add to it. Should take you 4 years to play all of those.

"Oh, the Wii has no games that will launch this year that I want other than Zelda. Wii is doomed!". No it's not, there's this thing called a backlog that several of us have at home (mine sits at 20 Wii games, 20 Wiiware and 6 VC) and you can get several Wii games at great prices. I also own a DSi (with 15 games), PS3 (with 10 games), PSP (with 12 games) and iPhone (with 10 games) and their respective backlogs so I'm set for the rest of the year.

Oh, and the Wii has a 30+ million lead worldwide. The Wii isn't doomed. The Wii has already won this generation...

Re: Review: Mighty Milky Way (DSiWare)

EdEN

@shinesprite: Yep, new set of characters. They're trying to "link" both games so you buy one and then the other since it's basically the same "universe" in a way.

Getting this next week since I've really liked all that Wayforward has released so far 2D wise, especially their offerings on DSiware.

Re: Monster World IV

EdEN

Wait, we're FINALLY getting MW IV AND fully localized? Ok, SEGA has my 900 Nintendo Points waiting!

Re: Not Konami's Intention to Make Lautrec Look Like Layton

EdEN

Love the Layton series and we're two games behind in comparison to our japanese counterparts so if ALSO having Lautrec's adventure set for release in the US means having more great puzzle games with superbly animated cutscenes and great voice acting... what's the problem?

Re: Review: Rabi Laby (DSiWare)

EdEN

Well, read that wrong and figured it as only $2. $5 still sounds reasonable but it will have to wait for me to add funds to my account.

Re: Nintendo Hasn't Forgotten About the Wii, Don't Worry

EdEN

You know what you can do Nintendo? Release Disaster: Day of Crisis and Fatal Frame 4 over here since they're already fully translated and that way you can say "hey, we ARE launching new and exciting Wii games!". Print 300k copies of each game, include a soundtrack and artbook, charge us $40-50, call it a CE and we're all happy!

Re: Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove will now be Spooking Gamers in 3D

EdEN

Makes sense since on 3DS it would be one of a handful of games launched in the next couple of months while on the DS it would come during the last avalanche of "we had almost finished it on DS so we might as well launch it and start working on something else for 3DS".

Re: Take On the Master Quest in Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

EdEN

This will make it easier for people to justify the $40 price tag on the game.

@DarkKirby Master Quest was unlocked from the start on the NES original by using a specific name for Link so my guess is the same could be the case with the 3DS remake.

Re: Will We See a Zelda 25th Anniversary Collection this Year?

EdEN

I mentioned this before when the Super Mario Bros Anniversary box launched. They would have to go with Zelda I-II and Link to the Past with a book and soundtrack for $30 (the games on VC would cost you $18 so $12 for the book, soundtrack and packaging is right) since Ocarina is releasing on 3DS... and my guess is that if that does well they'll do the same for Majora's Mask.

Also, anyone know if the 3DS version of Ocarina will also include the Master Quest?

Re: Talking Point: Is the DS Dead at Retail?

EdEN

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I won't get a 3DS until summer 2012 at the earliest, maybe holiday 2012 is more likely. My DSi still has a lot of life ahead since I've got 25 DS games in my drawer I've yet to start, I'll probably spend another $100 on DSiware (at least) and there's 10+ games launching in 2011 I'll be buying, along with 10+ games from 2010 I couldn't buy for one reason or another.

DS ain't dead at retail. Problem is most people are picky.
