@Sanjithechef @Rika_Yoshitake yes and you can void a warranty that you paid for when you bought the machine so if it craps out on you they will blame you for being mr fix it and not replace or repair your system.
Fixing yourself is fine but while under warranty no one should be fixing it themselves. Warranties are there for a reason and I’ll be damned if I pay 500+ for something and be expected to fix it myself when I have a warranty.
Also valve actually isn’t recommending anyone fix their devices themselves. Anyone telling you that is not a company spokesperson on the subject and should not be listened to.
@Rika_Yoshitake completely agree. Let’s see how long this last, in reality it’s a handheld system for older games that it cannot play due to those games being m&k on steam. This system will only be good for a couple years and for what price just to play a limited amount of games just like the steam box? Unlike Nintendo Valve will move on like they did with the steam box as well and leave everyone with a paperweight.
@SwitchForce dual screen can come back and for tech restricted it wouldn’t have to be utilized but could be. Games like windwaker used it for your maps and item back which other games could do also but even though you could you didn’t have to do it is very plausible in fact. As for the switch being that hybrid portable it isn’t really considering I could use my Wii U pad and change from portable to tv with a push of a button. That would allow many people ease of access instead of having to dock it to switch over. As for the 4K yea I agree but then again it’s not when they can but when they will. Nintendo hasn’t been hit as hard as others by the chip factor because what they use isn’t as loved among crypto miners which is what’s causing the shortage and why they were able to keep producing systems. Nintendo is definitely making a power play here by running with what they have and getting what they can until sales start slowing. Maybe when sales hit 10-15 million instead of 18+ a year they may release it who knows.
@jsty3105 the WiiU failed because of marketing not because of the system itself. The system itself was literally cutting edge for what it did. Nintendo failed hard at marketing it.
@Anti-Matter a switch U is exactly what needs to happen. A switch that operates like the WiiU but keeps the portability. Even using the WiiU layout would be nice as that had a nice layout and you could have folders etc. some games on the Wii U worked great with the dual screen and if implemented you wouldn’t actually need to use a dual screen ( windwaker is a great example here) so the games could be portable. The only other thing right off the top of my head would be to be 4K (or upscaled like the Xbox one did) while playing in Tv and 1080p in handheld which is highly doable given the age of all that tech.
@Funneefox first of all the emulation is fine and they have fixed most issues. Second fan emulation of their property is a property rights violation and is illegal so they are within their rights. Just because you expect things for free doesn’t mean Nintendo should give them to you. As for adding games there is more to it than just adding them. There are many different parties involved in a game and they need them to agree to allow them to put the games up. This is the reason many games have not been remade or ported for all companies. Stop whining and just enjoy the games man.
@nowthisisepic I suspect badges, trophies added to the challenges like on Xbox along with gold points or a point system like in Xbox also. There will also be backgrounds added also. Everybody always wants everything all at once.
@Sunsy yea online play for console is a norm though and many places on pc actually require a sub as well. I stand with you for not wanting to pay for online play. I don’t look at NSO that way though as I buy it to play the games in NSO more than online. If it’s not a Nintendo title I usually play online on a different platform and if on console I usually turn off crossplay if it’s an option as I like fair chances lmao
@cool_boy_mew how is it to late? This is not something that any other console does. Yea they have icons but so does Nintendo. It is a great addition and is not to late and is just the beginning. I see them adding a system like Xbox where you will get points to trade in for a eshop card or gold points. Not to late at all, never doing it all all would be to late. If your referencing the length of time the switch has been out then it still isn’t to late. The new system will most likely be backwards compatible like the DS was but with better graphics and possibly 4K docked. So again not to late.
@Yorumi I’m not desperate to claim nothing except facts. Tell me if you open your system and fix it then it breaks later and you send it in what is stopping them from saying you damaged the machine from something you did when you opened it? Nothing that’s what and that is exactly the situation anyone that doesn’t send it in during the warranty period would be facing if they did such a idiotic thing. You or anyone pays 500+ for something and isn’t willing to use the warranty given to them in the first place is stupid but to think that the company wouldn’t look for a way to not have replace the item is also pretty stupid. Valve is no different or no better than any other company out there period.
@PhhhCough yes before because they can still try to claim you opened it. Yes some places have done that and with them encouraging people to do this I wouldn’t put it past them at all. My English is perfectly fine but it looks like your intelligence is pretty dumbed down. Have a good day.
@PhhhCough hence opening the system voids the warranty because if you end up sending it in for anything that happens before during or after you open it would be considered you damaging it. You would have no way to prove otherwise and they could prove you opened the system so would then deem warranty bill and void. You clearly have not dealt with warranties or legal jargon much.
I never said you did fix it yourself. I explained that a switch joycon stick is more sensitive and accurate and that some drift with any system can be fixed with calibrating but some cannot. No controller or component is the same and all have different issues basically. Kind of like you not being able to read evidently.
@Yorumi if you open that system you void your warranty period, read the warranty disclaimers. They can say we encourage you to do it all they want but if you do warranties are null and void. Valve is scamming the community by doing this.
@Astral-Grain Xbox controllers are not as sensitive as Nintendo’s which allows for drift to be more dominant just like with the steam deck most likely. When a controller is more precise in its movement it will be subject to drift more. A great example of this would be the game Greak. With the switch if you turn down the sensitivity it works fine but Xbox doesn’t need that. Nintendo has literally provided a more sensitive and more accurate joystick is all. As for recalibrating it’s can work or not on either system. I have actually had my Xbox controllers do it where I have had to take them apart but I have had no issues with my switch controllers also. Nintendo literally replaces your controller and not fix it if you have drift for free. That’s more than any other company has done.
@Astral-Grain actually your wrong. Drift is drift period then you have calibration drift or bad component drift. Also no company allows you to fix your controllers yourself that is your choice and voids any warranty at all and second the fix is literally the same for all of them.
@dmcc0 you take the upscaler and it’ll work with a av to hdmi cable converter. One thing people fail to mention is GameCube games only put out 480i resolution so the component cables actually do not make a difference. Both the av and component cables output the same resolution even though component cables will support up to 1080 the GameCube is limited to 480 unless modified. There are tons of articles on it so this upscaler would work if your wanting to go with a av to a upscaler to a av hdmi converter cord which is what I was talking about on doing. It’s cheaper to just play it on a newer tv that way instead of these cords unless you really want one. Me if your going to spend that much might as well fish out the rest and get a authentic compo cord. The method I mentioned is universal for many consoles. I tend to switch from my crt tv to a newer 70in sometimes so works perfect for me.
@itslukec yea those have component hook ups and a/v. Only way it would benefit you would be to go with a newer tv. Even then it would put out the same output as the component cables. My solution is for those that don’t have that option or want to use a newer tv. I myself have the GameCube component cables and the all in one cable they made also that fits the GameCube, Xbox and ps2 also.
@1UP_MARIO they support both in the states just like in the UK/Europe. Like I said above it’s cheaper to just get an upscale which I linked above as well and am sure you can get it in Europe also and go with a hdmi setup. Only reason to use component is if you really wanna use that old school tv. With me I only use my old tube tv for everything up to well the GameCube and PS2. I start using my flat screen with hdmi from that era up.
@dmcc0 it has to be an upscale as well. They will have a switch on them that will allow 720 and 1080.p and don’t just buy the cheapest one either. I also got mine of if amazon too. When you do that you can return it if it isn’t what you expected. Just return it as item not as described because at that point it won’t be.
Here is the one I got and it works perfect just like thousands of others say in the reviews also. Remind you I’m in the USA so not sure where you are or if you would be able to buy it.
I also got a a/v switcher 6 in 1 box that uses a push button instead of the remotes. I love and if you have more than one system you can hook them all up to it and use the upscaler on the output and have all the retro systems working in the best picture. Here is the link to that also.
@Spider-Kev @itslukec they do but just buy a hdmi adapter or a s-video to hdmi splitter that upscales there are tons of different ones on Amazon that will provide a much better picture than component. Also even today most TVs do not have a component setup. Granted you will only get the best video each system will allow that’s hooked up to it but beats buying that component cable and is cheaper than anything retro bit sells.
@Dpishere sadly many older games on steam still require a M&K and are not controller compatible. That is one of the biggest downfalls the steam box had.
Most games on steam require you to be logged into steam to play them. That alone takes away from the possibilities of the device. That and the limits of the hardware age wise along with price for such inadequate specs is a big no go. It’s to expensive and is not as portable as people want to believe.
All you people that wanted digital well here it is. All companies are going to a paid subscription now, Xbox is doing it, playstation is trying and failing but it’s been said they are revamping their subscription base. A sub is the best way for companies to get more money. For every subscription everyone gets a cut and in the end over months or even years they milk more out of you than if you would have bought the game. As it becomes more popular they subscription price will continue to rise as well. This will be the end of anyone owning a game at all digital or physical. It will literally be the norm in less than a decade.
@KITG_GROUP eshop cards can be added by pc or switch and even Wii U still I believe, you just cannot put funds directly from bank account into WiiU last I knew. Also it’s March 2023 it’ll shut down so we still have another year to buy games.
@OnlyItsMeReid star Fox guard was an add on game for star Fox zero. They probably gave it for free because no one is going to be looking to buy it separately
@masterLEON it’s not in the US WiiU shop anymore I checked just now.
I never thought about Xbox, I’ll have to grab it while I can definitely and I agree, when I get a PS5 I’ll hope it’s backwards compatible as well. As for the VR system I am not sure they will release a new one for PS5 and if they do it’ll be late into the systems life. They did release an adapter for the PS VR where it can hook up to the PS5 though. That’s why I don’t believe they’ll release a new one anytime soon. The only games I even play on my PS4 anymore are somy exclusives (which really are not but a handful ) and VR games, I typically buy Xbox anymore. Because of their backwards compatibility.
Also this is why everyone needs to buy the games now instead of waiting because they will slowly be delisted.
@masterLEON if you have a ps4 vr race the sun is available for ps4 also. Either way it’s an awesome, cheap and fun game. I have had hours of fun on endless nights playing it just on my Wii u
Owning any game factory sealed is pretty pointless. Why would I buy something for 1k just to put it in the shelf when I could enjoy dozens of games for that price and still have that very game. Sealed games prices are outrageous anyways when all you need is the game and maybe a n instruction book.
Nintendo has persevered their titles, most titles in the eshop take. Down are from other developers that contracts ran out with Nintendo for the eshop. Keeping the eshop open or any other game systems shop open for an older system is actually pretty stupid. They pay for the servers housing these shops and start losing money and still leave them open for a few years anyways. As far as that goes digital games are not perservable. You will either loss your account, company will go under or be sold and your account not transferred or you’ll die and it’ll all be gone anyways. Even steam stops carrying games for sale yet no one screams at them for stopping sale of those games. Preservation is physical, take care of what you have and it’ll work, there will always be components for them until you can get another physical for it. As far as Nintendo goes I believe they are just going to integrate everything into the switches eshop and I can actually see that getting used on the newer system as well but eventually all three of the gaming giants will have to move on from certain titles or their digital platform to another which will cause the use of the digital titles you own useless on newer systems. As for preservation games should be put on physical to preserve them and not these day one patches that we never needed not even a decade ago. The possibility of preservation is pretty much gone for any newer titles.
@Raffles they could actually do with 2 cards one in the dock and one in the console itself to accomplish 4K. Very feasible and literally wouldn’t add much to the price either.
@sanderev probably not Multiplayer but they may integrate single player for handheld. With multiplayer it wouldn’t be fair for someone to use controls and another person using motion so I could definitely see multiplayer use with motion controls only and single Player with regular controls.
@nessisonett @steizgr8 yea but they have published a bunch of games. Saving their money to buy these companies so they can take their publishing company further. Smart business really and all while keeping the staff.

@dcast2 because they don’t have a Wii maybe?

@1UP_MARIO they support both in the states just like in the UK/Europe. Like I said above it’s cheaper to just get an upscale which I linked above as well and am sure you can get it in Europe also and go with a hdmi setup. Only reason to use component is if you really wanna use that old school tv. With me I only use my old tube tv for everything up to well the GameCube and PS2. I start using my flat screen with hdmi from that era up.
Re: Retro-Bit's GameCube Component Cable Will Save You Some Pennies
@dmcc0 it has to be an upscale as well. They will have a switch on them that will allow 720 and 1080.p and don’t just buy the cheapest one either. I also got mine of if amazon too. When you do that you can return it if it isn’t what you expected. Just return it as item not as described because at that point it won’t be.
Here is the one I got and it works perfect just like thousands of others say in the reviews also. Remind you I’m in the USA so not sure where you are or if you would be able to buy it.
RCA to HDMI,AV to HDMI Converter,ABLEWE 1080P Mini RCA Composite CVBS Video Audio Converter Adapter Supporting PAL/NTSC for TV/PC/ PS3/ STB/Xbox VHS/VCR/Blue-Ray DVD Players https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RX69KR8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_W76FFZD36JA2PNXR1YGM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I also got a a/v switcher 6 in 1 box that uses a push button instead of the remotes. I love and if you have more than one system you can hook them all up to it and use the upscaler on the output and have all the retro systems working in the best picture. Here is the link to that also.

Both together is still barely more than half the price of these cables in the article.

Owning any game factory sealed is pretty pointless. Why would I buy something for 1k just to put it in the shelf when I could enjoy dozens of games for that price and still have that very game. Sealed games prices are outrageous anyways when all you need is the game and maybe a n instruction book.
Re: Video Game History Foundation Calls Out Nintendo's "Destructive" 3DS & Wii U eShop Closure
Re: Nintendo Could Be Using AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution To Boost Switch Performance
@NEStalgia it actually is a process that teaches the A.I. algorithm so you are only half correct.
Re: Nintendo Could Be Using AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution To Boost Switch Performance
@Raffles they could actually do with 2 cards one in the dock and one in the console itself to accomplish 4K. Very feasible and literally wouldn’t add much to the price either.
Re: Bitmap Bureau Reveals 'Final Vendetta', A Homage To Final Fight, Streets Of Rage And Double Dragon
@Zanzox it’s called variety. SoR is good but like all games it gets old after a while so a variety is good.
Re: Nintendo Switch Sports Online Play Test Times And Dates - How To Register For The Switch Sports Online Beta
@sanderev probably not Multiplayer but they may integrate single player for handheld. With multiplayer it wouldn’t be fair for someone to use controls and another person using motion so I could definitely see multiplayer use with motion controls only and single
Player with regular controls.
Re: Nintendo Switch Sports Online Play Test Times And Dates - How To Register For The Switch Sports Online Beta
@cmdrmarc most likely Europeans will have their own test servers, then they will connect worldwide at a later date
Re: Capcom Just Started A Countdown Timer, But What's It For?
@ShadowofTwilight22 Sony will never buy out capcom. That’s like microsoft trying to buy Nintendo.
Re: Focus Home Interactive Acquires 'Metal Slug Tactics' Studio Leiker
@nessisonett @steizgr8 yea but they have published a bunch of games. Saving their money to buy these companies so they can take their publishing company further. Smart business really and all while keeping the staff.
