@Geonjaha Two Tribes picked the winners with no input from us, we just sent over all 300 submissions for them to choose from. They probably don't even know of the legend that is Chicken Brutus!
Hey Aussies, just to say you guys are cool to enter the comp. Two Tribes will send the prizes to pretty much any country in the world... definitely Australia!
@SigourneyBeaver - my local GAME said they would do the transfer for me under the counter... or I could pay full price for the 3DS XL and return within 24 hours with the 3DS for trade-in and get £100 rebate. The policy will vary between stores I guess. If in doubt, just ask.
@longtimegamer No there are no saving points in Strider, as with most Mega Drive action titles. They are not really needed anyway, if you have the skillz you can complete this in one sitting anyway. To my knowledge the MD/Genesis port hasn't ever been made available on a compilation, don't quote me on that thou
Great review @Damo. I remember importing the JPN version of this back in the days, great times. You're right that the graphics were that little bit better than the arcade, yeah there was some sprite flicker at times but nothing that took away from the game too much. At the time it felt as good as having the arcade in your home, it played like a dream.
Along with Ghouls 'n Ghosts and Golden Axe this was one of my favourite Sega conversions of its time. Of course I loved ESWAT too, but that was nothing like the arcade! hehe
It's crazy to think that we've had to wait over 5 years for Sega/Capcom to get their act together to release Strider on the Virtual Console, madness!
Poor old GAME, they don't seem to be having an easy time of it lately. I expect this has something to do with the line of credit thing from a few weeks back. Not good!
Nice write-up @Damo - I must admit I have mixed feelings on this device. It's flustrating that the big N didn't have the foresight to include a second circle pad from day one. They must have seen this coming!
On the positive side, I personally find the square edges of the 3DS a bit uncomfortable to hold for long gaming sessions so the rounded bulk of this add-on is a welcome addition.
Whatever you feel about this attachment, at least it isn't as bad as this!
@shinobi88 - I agree that the Mega Drive Shinobi games were a challenge to complete, especially Revenge of Shinobi. But I always found them fair, they required skill but never felt like a chore to play through. I just didn't enjoy the later levels much due to uninspired level design. It's a shame really as I felt the early levels started out quite strong.
@zeeroid - the graphics are definitely not atrocious, sure they are not using sprites like the Mega Drive games but that's to be expected really. My only gripe with the visuals is that the backgrounds look a bit pixelated on some levels, but that's not really a big deal.
I really loved playing the preview levels at Eurogamer Expo. Can't wait to play thru the whole thing soon. Nice review Corbs, you have confirmed my suspicions that this is full of WIN!
This is a frustrating precedent for the Virtual Console, but no big loss in this case. The TG-16 port is much better. But the Master System version did have that secret bonus level not found in the arcades!
@ejgamer (and others) - Nintendo asked us if we'd like to do this promotion and we happily accepted. All of the choices are completely the choice of the Nintendo Life team and no one else.
@Kirk you have quite the suspicious mind don't you? hehe
I can assure you that this selection was made by jointly by Nintendo Life's core admin team. The choces were completely at our discretion, the only difficulties we had were due to regional availability where we had to make a few substitutions.
@Squiggle55 I understand that the big N will be able to tell how successful the NL shelf is in one way or another compared to other shelves. So get buying and perhaps we'll get the chance to do our retro selection next!
@Kirk we chose a mixture of DSiWare, eShop and VC - as there aren't many eShop original games to pick from yet we picked the one we liked the most.
This isn't a intended to be a list of all of our 10/10 and 9/10 rated games, think of this more as a mixtape compiled for a friend with a few wildcards thrown in to liven it up.

Re: Review: SpeedX 3D (3DS eShop)
I have to say I'm really enjoying this personally. It's hypnotically addictive. A real bargain given the low download price.
Great review @Damo

Re: Collect All The Yoshi Colours in Mario Tennis Open
Trying to scan QR codes from the video is an exercise in futility. They are too tiny!
Anyway, it's all about Metal Mario innit?
Re: Toki Tori - Game Boy Color Giveaway
@SkywardLink98 If anyone in North America wins the comp, the download code will be sent once Toki Tori hits the US eShop.

Re: Nintendo Download: 16th February 2012 (North America)
Strider, finally! I can't believe its taken over 5 years for Capcom to sort this one out. Such a great game.
For those too young to remember this, please don't judge this on the awful 'beefcake' US artwork! Here's how Strider should be remembered
Re: Feature: Nintendo Characters Looking for Love
Tingle's dating profile really cracked me up! Hilarious stuff @Chicken_Brutus
Re: Welcome to the New Look Nintendo Life!
Nice work @antdickens - looks amazing!
Re: Nicalis: "The eShop Has Turned Things Around for Nintendo"
I agree with Ty, the eShop is a big step forward for Nintendo.
Mostly because of this!

Re: Dawn Paine to Leave Nintendo UK
@Gavin_Rozee good job someone told her to "drop the 'the'. Just Wii Fit. It's cleaner"
Re: Nintendo Download: 19th January 2012 (Europe)
@BalrogtheMaster - the title is correct, Europe won't get these games until Thursday. NL just get the press release a few days early
Re: Nintendo Download: 19th January 2012
@Drake - of course, you're right! (sneakily changes James' news to use better box art)
Re: Nintendo Download: 19th January 2012
Prince of Persia on the SNES is an absolutely fantastic game, as tough as old boots though!
The PAL boxart is really dreadful, I had the Japanese version back in the days. How much better does this look?
Re: Nintendo Life Now Has a Google+ Page
@warioswoods I affectionately call it #c2543d
Re: Review: VVVVVV (3DSWare)
Great review Corbie, I really hope this hits Europe soon (with Flip mode fixed of course!!). I'd love to play it on the 3DS!
Re: Join the Official Nintendo Life Mario Kart 7 Communities
Good games tonight @picpik - was great fun!
Re: Mega Drive Strider Confirmed For European Virtual Console
This is great news, I can't wait!
Yeah the western boxart sucks, this was so often the case back then. Thankfully I had the Japanese import as a kid hehe

Great news! This is one of my favourite Mega Drive games of all time, wonder why its taken so long!!
Re: Review: Shinobi (3DS)
@JamieO - thanks for the kind comments chief, always appreciated. BTW logs also plummet down a waterfall to test out ninja skillz in this reboot too!

Re: Site News: Nintendo Life's eShop Appearance
We've gone live in US, Canada, Mexico and Brazil now - hello world!
@ImDiggerDan sorry dude, there were so many worthy DSiWare games to consider. Not all could make the cut
@ueI 10 Second Run was a last minute wildcard we threw in for fun, it just seemed to fit

There are some regional differences as some of the games aren't available in Europe and Australia
@Chicken_Brutus hahaha!!!
