Re: Review: Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island (Wii U eShop / Game Boy Advance)

This is one of the most unique, challenging, and fun platformers ever crafted. Yes, the GBA version has slightly inferior sound and special effects, but it also has extra levels and for the most part it is a faithful port. I still have my GBA cartridge and I play it on my TV with my GameCube's GameBoy Player, so I don't think I'll get this, but for anyone else that hasn't yet played this gem, I highly recommend it! This is Yoshi at his best.

@Sleepy_JL

Buy it for the XBLA. The GameCube version is somewhat rare, and it typically sells for around $40 used. If you have a PS2, you can get that version too. The PS2 version is dirt cheap. I bought the GC version so I could complete my Resident Evil collection for the GameCube, otherwise I would have gotten one of those other cheaper ones.

I originally had this for the Dreamcast and then sold it. Now I own the GameCube version. I like the game, bit I have to agree with some people; the plot is a bit too wacky, and the lack of pre-rendered backgrounds does suck a bit of the atmosphere away. But all in all, it's enjoyable and it serves as a better sequel to Resident Evil 2 than Nemesis does. Even Capcom have admitted that this was the true succesor to RE2.

Re: Weirdness: This Super Mario 64 Fan Remake is Fairly Impressive

The only thing I don't like too much is that it looks too dark and gritty. Part of the charm of Super Mario games is the bright, whimsical worlds. But, he did say that the visuals weren't final and that he was still working on them. I'd love it if he somehow got far enough into the project to be able to remake the whole game, although that's just wishful thinking. Overall, I applaud his effort. This is really cool.

I love all his artwork. He definitely had a
distinct style that is easily identifiable. His
artwork for the Sonic games is very near
and dear to me. Just looking at it floods
me with wonderful childhood memories. I
played through Adventure Island on the
GameBoy for the first time a few months
ago. It’s cool to see that he was a part of
that too. Also, who doesn’t love Hannah-
Barbera? That studio is responsible for
some of the greatest, most iconic cartoons
ever. Rest In Piece, Martin. You came, saw
and conquered as far as I’m concerned.

@DerpSandwich 2013 was undoubtably the 3DS's year. The amount of quality releases is a bit overwhelming, although it's hard to complain. I feel like Nintendo have something similar planned for the Wii U. There are still many unnanounced Wii U games. But for now, I think everyone can keep themselves very busy with their 3DS.

@DerpSandwich I see what you mean. Playing online is a different experience than playing with friends in the same room. Personally, I prefer local multiplayer, but having an online option is awesome since friends aren't always available to play locally. Thankfully, there's plenty of awesome games coming out this year for Wii U, so you'll have at least a few amazing titles to play instead of Smash Bros.

@DerpSandwich @DerpSandwich There's an online mode too bro. One of the reasons I don't love Melee as much as other people is because I never had anyone to play it with. I'm excited for Smash Bros. U cause I'll always have someone to play with due to it being online.

Re: Eurogamer's Game of the Year is a Nintendo Winner

CharlieLoneWolf

A well-deserved award for a masterfully crafted game. Super Mario 3D World and A Link Between Worlds have both gotten GotY Awards, and hopefully more sites reward them as well. Nintendo is like an ever-flowing waterfall of creativity and fun. After all these years, they're still doing brilliant things.
