Rayman Legends is my most favourite game, ever (PC version).
It has so much content, so much heart and soul put into the presentation and good lord, the controls are so responsive. Everyone should own this game on one platform or another.
@Anti-Matter An hour, fine. I'm talking more 4-6 hours. The shape of the 3DS does not fit the hands the same way a DS4 or Xbox One controller do. Not that I would expect it to, of course, it has to be relatively slim, but if I'm home then I'd rather be playing with a more ergonomic controller. This is the main appeal of the Switch, to me (so far),
As a PC gamer, the Switch is the only console that appeals to me because of the portability. Typically portables aren't very comfortable to play on for extended periods when compared to full-fat controllers, but the Switch solves that problem by allowing external controllers too. Perhaps, since it's an Nvidia device, it will support Nvidia Gamestream too! Wishful thinking, perhaps.
I would say the main reason they won't allow sharing of courses online is because the 3DS is far more prone to cheaters flooding the server with unbeatable levels.
Argos has Layton Miracle Mask for £2.99. Seemed very cheap compared to everywhere else, was wondering if they'd priced it wrong, because they're also selling it for £12.99 on the same site just on a different product page.
@3MonthBeef That makes sense. Still a massive shame so many of these well-received projects just end up dead after receiving a cease-and-desist, rather than re-purposing their work to feature original characters and assets. It worked for Freedom Planet and it breaks my heart that we lose the opportunity for new franchises in this manner.
I find it hard to believe they would do the whole thing out of pure fan passion and have no interest in the technical aspect of it any more once they've been told to stop. But I guess there's always people who take these sorts of things to another level.
I can't grasp how people with this much talent squander it on derivative works.
To be able to design and create a game in your spare time that people consider on par with major releases, only to slap another company's trademarked names all over it...
That must require an insane dearth of creativity...
@aniki7 Is he still 10? I haven't watched for many years but I seem to recall him being 10 since the first episode. Shouldn't he be in his 20's by now? Or does this follow Simpsons ageing logic?
@Utena-mobile I never said others don't like it, I'm saying I don't.
Fake anime, like showing an artist 90's Toonami and then telling them to draw it. You have the eyes, the oversized canines, the big heads on small bodies, that thing they do when they clench their teeth and it looks like a heart monitor line(?). It very much looks like an artist outside their comfort zone. But that's just my observation. Don't let me not liking it affect you liking it.
I pre-ordered it and yes, it was because Pokemon GO made me feel nostalgic and it felt like the right time to buy a 3DS and catch up with some Nintendo games after being PC-focused for a decade.
What are these games being judged on, exactly? Pokemon GO had a huge number of players at launch but it's not a good game, it's a clicker with all the assets and animations ripped straight from the 3DS games and the game engine taken from Ingress.
You walk somewhere, tap your screen, pray to your RNG gods and repeat 1000 times until a bar fills up.
(also how is it a family game?)
Going from 30FPS to 60FPS does more for the gameplay enjoyment than having prettier visuals. For a console like the Switch, it shouldn't be attempting to dazzle us with technical graphics prowess, it doesn't have the hardware to pull it off.
It was never going to be powerful enough to compete with current-gen systems and it doesn't really need to be. It's primarily going to be competing in the portable gaming space, the only competition there is phone games and the Vita which may as well not even exist outside of Japan at this point. No matter how underpowered it is, it's still going to be a vast improvement on the 3DS and by pricing it that low, you're going to get a lot of people on board early (which is a very good thing).
This game is VERY pushy about getting you to spend, or at least that's what I thought when I first installed it. I'm after the Isabelle badges, and OF COURSE they're the ones that take 5 consecutive plays to get.
It's not the game that's supporting this, it's the Joy2key app, or any Windows app that maps USB controller input to keys (there are many). It's just a keyboard game that is recommending you to use a key mapper for controller support, nothing newsworthy unless the game itself is newsworthy, in which case maybe you should go into more detail about the actual game than 2 sentences.
The 3D effect is pretty decent but the games selection is mystifying. Even as a massive Puyo fan, I was a little confused why they would include Puyo 2, without even translating it to English. I can't remember any time in history where you could buy a Nintendo game in the UK in PAL format and have it not translated.
I only picked this up a month ago so I am happy it's getting amiibo support. I have Isabelle and a few of the amiibo trading cards to make use of it. I would imagine, judging from the activity levels on Miiverse, that this is still a very popular title.
I didn't buy a 3DS because of the specs. The low-res screen, slow and clunky interface and no real innovations other than the glasses-free 3D which isn't something I would even turn on. I only picked up a N3DSXL recently when I found a good deal, very glad I waited.

Re: Ubisoft Director Says Nintendo Switch May Unite the Casual and Hardcore Gaming Audiences
@Anti-Matter I can quite happily go 16-18 hours if I'm into the game enough. On a weekend, dawn 'til dusk.
On a PC, that is. With an Xbox Elite controller. My hands would cramp long before that if I tried the same on a 3DS.

@DanteSolablood Source on that? I thought the PS4 and Xbone were AMD x86-based systems while the switch was going to use an Nvidia ARM SoC?

Having a Pokemon RPG as a launch title is always a good idea. First in the main series that you can play on your TV, too (without an adapter)!
