Fascinating... I didn't even know this anime existed...
Edit: First!
Edit 2: I thought about it overnight and then listened to the opening sequence again and it hit me: OMG!! I remember this series! This was on Nickelodeon almost before it was Nickelodeon! I really need to track this down and take a look! I had totally forgot about it!
We all know that SEGA is in big trouble financially. And although I was always much more a Nintendo fan than a SEGA fan, I know that most Nintendo fans have a special affinity for our former arch rivals. I know that I absolutely love some SEGA franchises I've been able to play over the years on friends consoles!
I've always said that if SEGA had to be sold, I'd pray that Nintendo bought them. The reason I say this is because I think that Nintendo "gets" SEGA more than any other company despite being former competitors. Imagine if Sony or Microsoft bought SEGA! I'd imagine the company would be all but destroyed and the characters and brand would quickly fade away.
Nintendo has the bucks. SEGA does not. Nintendo has talented programmers. SEGA's staff has been crippled over the years. SEGA and Nintendo are a match made in heaven.
Also, look at recent developments: SEGA and Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed had the majority of its sales on Wii U. Bayonetta 2 is exclusive to Wii U. The new Sonic is exclusive to Wii U. And let's face it: The Wii U is practically what everyone imagined a Dreamcast 2 to be. I'd say SEGA has thrown its hat in with Nintendo, if not outright been acquired. At the very least, they're turning out to be a very close 3rd party developer kind of like Rare once was.
I welcome all these developments. Now if Nintendo would just fund a new Shenmue, I'd die a happy man.
Kickstarter needs to be retooled for Games. If you contribute to a game, you get the game and a percentage of the revenue equal to your percentage of investment. Then there will be fewer frivolous developers asking for millions and giving nothing back.
@Justaguest I mentioned it before, but I figured it was worth repeating:
For those that haven't played the original Ace Attorney games, most of them are available on Wii or Wii U in Wiiware. Just go to the Wii Shop and search!
Really cool. But as soon as someone perfects the NES design... I might have to buy it. I've seen some NES designs out there, but none seemed quite right.
At the time Wind Waker was released, I was busy cheating on Nintendo with a new Xbox. I sometimes regret not going the Gamecube route, but now that the HD re-release is on its way, I'll be able to see first hand what everyone is raving about!
@klautrec Violent games don't make bad kids. Bad parents make bad kids. Full-Stop. A good parent wouldn't be getting their kid COD, etc. Just like a good parent wouldn't let their kid watch a rated R movie. If they do, then either they have to put in the extra effort to explain to the kid what they saw was not acceptable behavior, or they are a bad parent.
My first reaction was much like everyone elses. "WTF NINTENDO???". But my inner optimist says that VC releases may be frequent. If new games are released frequently in groups, this won't be so bad. But I agree with everyone who thinks this launch selection makes Nintendo look bad.
I'm a recent convert to NintendoLife. Came here from IGN around the launch of the Wii U. Their Nintendo coverage is laughable most of the time. Can go almost a week without a new Nintendo related article. Happy Anniversary!
The Wii U is the first console I've gone all-digital with. With a cheap 1TB external drive, I can keep all the retail games I buy right at my fingertips on the Gamepad at all times. The only down side is that pricing can sometimes be out-of-whack compared to retail. I've been using Steam on my PC for years for all my games there. I haven't gone digital with movies yet because BluRay has much higher quality and features than digital equivalents.
I couldn't believe the news when I saw it. I immediately looked for the news on other websites. "IGN? Check. NBC News? Check. Nintendo Life? Check. OMFG This is really happening!!!" I'm literally giddy. I can almost forgive Capcom for killing Resident Evil and selling on-disk DLC!
Something tells me that SEGA knows that this game is still-born and either they have postponed it to improve it, or are going to abandon ship and shelve this one. I've heard nothing but bad buzz.
I'm sure Nintendo was thrilled when Yacht Club brought the idea to them as it's an obvious love letter to the NES. As everyone has been saying, it seems the Wii U is going to be extremely indie friendly. With mechanics from so many loved games like Mega Man, DuckTales, Castlevania, and obvious nods to Super Mario's hidden world-skipping Warp Pipes, I think it'd be very difficult to mess up this game. Just the teaser by itself practically sold me on the game. Especially the soundtrack!
I picked up my copy on eShop when the physical copies were unavailable at my local Gamestop. Best decision I ever made. It's the first FE game I've played and I can't get enough.
Oddly, all my freezes seem to happen in the YouTube app and Hulu. Never had a freeze in MiiVerse, although I did have a freeze or two in AC3 and Sonic Racing. Nothing too annoying for the games, but the Hulu and Youtube freezes were pretty frequent.
This was my first Fire Emblem game, and surprisingly, by far one of my favorite video games ever. I snapped up the first couple map packs available in NA as soon as I bought the game (from eShop because Nintendo messed up shipping the games to stores) and realized I was addicted.
I played the first games on the Wii when they were released as Wiiware. I was instantly in love. I've been throwing my money at my 3DS for a while now, but so far AA5 hasn't shown up!
Although I think it would probably be difficult for them to translate this skit into english without it seeming awkward, I would have loved to see this kind of light-hearted play in the North American Nintendo Direct.
I voted boycott, but not for the implied reasons. I won't be buying the game because of timing. Right now, there is a game drought on Wii U. Rayman Legends not only helps fill this, but was considered a quality game that stood out. Many people would buy it to fill the void and have something to play until better games come later in the year. Now with the delay, Rayman will be going against Juggernauts. Now, because my dollar only goes so far, I have to pick between Rayman and Wind Waker, a possible GTAV, etc. I can't see a situation where my money goes to Rayman now. Not only that, but the move Ubi made piles hesitation on top of that. So in effect, I'm boycotting the game.
What I find disturbing is that the Wii U Pro Controller was made for just this situation. So that older games not made specifically for the Wii U could be ported to the system and control comfortably. I fear this just shows that although developers have good intentions in not porting a game without Gamepad support to the Wii U, they are also not showing interest in porting some of the hottest games to Wii U AT ALL.

I fell in love with these games playing them on WiiWare as ports. AA5 is one of my most anticipated games this year!
