I can see some parents complaining when they buy little Johnny another of those Wonderboy games he loves anly to find out its a WORSE VERSION of one he's already got.
People seem unusually obsessed with which end the wire comes out of. Why does it matter? A better question would be, as it isn't wireless, why can't you plug it into the GC controller slot instead of having to connect it to the Wii mote and drain your battery. Why anyone would want a round D-pad over the classic cross design is beyond me. The only reason other consoles have used a round D-pad is because they can't break nintendo's patent. Nothing to do with ergonomics as a round D pad like the mega drive is almost always less respoinsive and accurate.
For those excited about MIM, unfortuatenly the VC conversion leaves a lot to be desired. The review on VC-reviews is based on the original but the VC version has some signifigant emulation problems that might curb the enjoyment of the game for those who played the original.
perhaps the North American releases differed from the UK releases then because in the UK codemasters had an excellent reputation for budget games such as the Dizzy series, the Seymour games, the CJ games and many, many more. they were particularly good at the exploration adventure games in the Dizzy Mold.
Only really worth getting Last Ninja here and even then be prepared for insane difficulty and hours wasted trying to memorise jumping patterns. Buying IK is pointless as IK+ will arrive. Pole Position isn't worth it. Better C64 games will be coming for you hopefully. Let's hope Nintendo doesn't force the broken version of Last Ninja 3 on you as it still hasn't fixed the PAL version yet.
Interesting. I'd gotten the impression that Nintendo was being cagey about putting anymore C64 titles on the system after the Last Ninja 3 debacle that still hasn't been fixed.
is it too much to ask that we will be allowed to play Hanabi Pulseman in its original format Sega? Or will we have the ususal downgrading of import megadrive games into 50hz?
Wolflink22 doesn't seem to understand what (s)he's talking about. Europe gets THE EXACT SAME amount of VC games per month as America. We get two per fortnight. USA gets 1 per week. As for his/her "pot of gold", that pot of gold happens to have borders and run 14% slower than the version you'll most likely be picking up on Monday. Understand now? Anyone who calls PAL gamers "lucky" is having a laugh, frankly.
God man, why the Mega Drive version. Snes version should always take precedent. Especially in PAL territories where the SNES gets a better optimisation than the Mega Drive.
We don't actually know that for a fact. Just because a pattern has emerged one year doesn't mean it will be repeated, otherwise we'd still be getting five game weeks.
Yeah, this one looks a little simple but if I don't pick em up for the modded snes I'm getting I'll definately consider them for the VC. Would prefer full optimisation though so in a way its a pity the snes titles won't come via Hanabi but the regular slower PAL versions (akbeit with border reduction).
Didn't the SNES bombermans peak and then get worse as they went on. That's the way I remember Super Play telling it. I have Bomberman for the Saturn but I'd like the immediacy of a Wii version
Isn't the renaming because they don't own the trademark for the name "Mercs" anymore. that's what the article (with its erroneous link to EA's product page) seems to be getting at. Well hopefully if they're finding the time to change the code of the game they can take the time to optimise the game for PAL...oh wait, its a megadrive game. Pass.
Wow, that's made my mind up then. although bomberman is firmly a multiplayer faivorite I'd never buy a game i couldn't play solo as well. is the game a disc based release in Japan?
Really happy to see Twin Bee appear as it increases the likelihood we'll see the great Pop n Twinbee for Snes and as its an import I don't even have my ususal concerns about PAL NES games to worry about. have often thought about getting the TG16 bomberman, is this one superior or is the Wiiware version best? On a price/memory factor? I hope that MUSHA aside, as we know its coming out, the Hanabi stays away from Mega Drive games given that they don't support 60hz
interesting that Mario apparently dies (see the halo) at the end of the NES version as opposed to just getting booted off the screen in the arcade version.
@Ness 47 "I tried it, but then there were so much warnings (for example that i loose all Wii points) which keep me away from doing it."
Correct, however you will only lose whatever Wii points you have left over, Nintnedo is just warning you of this to cover its own back. The best time to do it then will be when you want to buy more than one game. Basically as long as you've spent all you Wii points in the Australian region there's nothing you can lose when you go back to europeean region. Me I took the hit and bought 1000 points, purchased Axelay and let the remaining 200 points disappear into the ether. For me Axelay was worth 1000 points. There's absolutely nothing to be scared of as long as you are sensible and don't have like 5000 points left over when you switch back.
As Starwolf says this is interesting in that it opens up the possibilities of Nintendo one day allowing a 60hz option for its PAL games. Perhaps its worth contacting Nintendo for the umpteenth time reminding them that this is something we'd rather have.
Musha would have been a crap 50hz borderfest anyway and Axelay is available quite easily via the region swap trick.
@Devestator (26)
If you like the WCW game the good news is that its one of the earliest of a series of excellent wrestling titles on N64 that use the same engine. Try also WCW/NWO revenge or World tour (depending which one you have now), WWF: Wrestlemania 2000 or WWF: No Mercy (make sure to get a cart that doesnt have the glitch though) and the Japanese only Virtual Pro Wrestling. The second Def Jam game: Fight for New York also uses a modified version of the engine to create a fight club style experience and is well worth picking up for the gamecube.
Then why didn't he ask him to pick four? I couldn't stand to listen to it because the interviewer made me want to eat my own face in embarrassment. A geek interviewing a mega-geek = cringetastic
Anyone hoping for this for Hanabi should check the thread on the games review page. Sega's Hanabi titles are altered to run at 50hz with borders and slowdown just so they fit the format established by Sega's awful PAL megadrive VC releases. So you get the honour of paying MORE for a game Sega has KNOWLINGLY butchered and can't even use the usual "it was like that originally" excuse to justify itself with.
Surely this is a reason for a valid complaint to both Sega and Nintendo. This is not "giving us the original" they are selling a knowingly butchered version of the game for a higher price! I don't mind paying extra for 60hz and what is essentially a better quality product but for this... What is the justification for knowingly butchering your product just so that it looks and sounds as bad as the stuff you ususally shovel out? Go to Hell Nintendo and take Sega with you.
What the...are you serious. I always assumed Sega's reaons for doing nothing with there PAL mega drive VC releases was laziness but now I hear they actually take the time to purposely cripple their hanabi releases? Surely that can't be right and Sega can't even use the old "that's how they always were" excuse (which is bad enough to begin with) to defend such actions. There are serious grounds for complaint with these titles as you are being sold an inferior product at an inflated price. Anybody who bought one should send a written complaint to Nintendo demanding a full refund.
To everyone saying the insults shouldn't be enough to keep unirally/racer of VC. You're all still not acknowledging the lawsuit. that's the main thing that will keep it off VC but the Sonic and Sega comments won't help. As far as FF goes I'd much rather Square Enix got on with releasing the Soul Blazer trilogy which I expected to come after Actraiser's early release tested the water for old Enix releases.
As I say it isn't the only reason, do a quick google search on Uniracer/rally and Pixar and you'll find it mentioned on several websites. there's nothing "so called" about the lawsuit, it happened and the game was pulled off the shelves. That will be enough to keep it off vc but the sonic and sega bashing won't help (if I recall there was even an ultra slow "hedgehog" mode)
As I've already said uniracer/rally was pulled due to a law suit with Pixar who claimed the game stole designs from one of there animated films "big red's dream". By "questionable content" Little Mac may actually have a point, it depends on your definition of "questionable". The game contained several barbed and coded insults to Sega and Sonic the Hedgehog and Nintendo may not wish to offend a company it now has an excellent working relationship with as well as a product it actively sells. Either way the game will never reappear so there's little point in discussing it further.
Surely the problem nobody seems to be commenting on with BAR is that VW Beetle license. Wouldn't this make it rather unlikely from the outset? As for Uniracer/rally I've heard it also ran into problems over copyright infringment as its main character looked simikar to one in a CGI dreamworks/pixar thing that was out at the time
Any cause is worth fighting for. Its disheartening when people don't seem to care but keep up your grievances with Square Enix as you have a valid point.
Re: Deadpool, don't know the character in question but anybody created by Rob Liefield is suspicious in my opinion
Yes the list of games is there my point with the "revisionism" is the fact that Nintendo tells us that every single VB game (and Earthbound) were "Not released" or words to that effect. It's ridiculous and smacks of the Nintendo of the 80's and 90's that liked to pretend that the rest of the world didn't exist. For the same reason neither the US or Europe gets Earthbound in its "masterpieces" and PAL regions get 50hz "masterpieces" so we don't wonder why the version we buy from the VC is worse than the one on Brawl (this is despite the fact that 60hz versions of many of these appeared on Zelda collector disk and Animal Crossing) The logic behind it all is staggering and makes you wonder, does Nintendo really think it'll be inundated with complaints from mothers who haven't been able to track down a copy of Earthbound or Red Alarm for little Johnny after he read about it on Brawl?
Those interested in Super Punch out would be best advised to check ebay first. Fight Night Round 2 (which includes the game) can be picked up for the same or less than it costs to purchase 1000 points. The advantages are a free GC boxing game, not having to take up space on your Wii's probably already burgeoning memory and for Pal gamers (need to clarify this) the possibility that SPO will run 60hz (as the conversions for Animal Crossing did). Plus you don't have to wait for Nintendo to release the thing (hello Pilotwings)

I would hope so. I'd like to think that the 90's ignorance over "European's not liking that sort of thing" is well and truly extinguished these days.
