I have contacted trading standards about this games continued availability. They confirm the following to anyone who bought it:
"You have a contract with them, under the Sales of Goods Act 1979. Under this act the goods should be of satisfactory quality, if they are not the trader should repair/replace the goods in a reasonable time, if this doesn’t resolve the issue then they should provide a refund".
They have also reported Nintendo to Trading Standards on my behalf for further investigation.

We passed your email to our European Headquarters, who have now responded that this issue is being investigated. However, as Nintendo would not involved in the development of this port, Nintendo cannot make any changes ourselves. The developers of this port have been contacted, and they have reported that fix is being worked on. I’m afraid we cannot provide any further details in to this situation at the moment. Kind regards,

Picked this up last night and its as fun as ever, but why did they take out the "Trouser" move. Another screw up by Commodore Gaming or something Nintendo asked for?
I would purchase this...on the condition that it gets the NEO GEO collection treatment with extras, unlockables and most importantly the 60hz full speed versions that are absent on the PAL VC releases.
It is a bit of an odd move though, considering the games are presumably shifting well on VC.
Now that you've "fixed" the Last Ninja 3 review, any chance of "fixing" this review to note the horrible audio problems the game has in its emulated form?
Twisted, which game are you referring too. I own 8 C64 games including the first two Last Ninjas and havn't experienced control issues on any of them so I think you may be being rather harsh on the system.
Great to see this review finally fixed and Nintendolife at last taking the problem seriously. The next step should be for them to "fix" the review of Mayhem in Monsterland to note the verious problems its audio has on the emulated VC version. The only one I havn't enjoyed so far has been Cybernoid but that had nothing to do with the controls which seem to be emulated exactly as I remember them on the C64 originals.
I would also like the website to officially contact Nintendo as many of its readers are doing and asking them why they continue to sell a faulty product on the Wii shop channel that was first identified as faulty 9 months ago!
I agree with the above poster. All these people whining and complaining about how terrible it alledgedly is: What movies have you made? For a fan made production this actually looked very impressively done. Top marks to whoever put it together.
Just a quick point The TG16 version of SF2 -CE does offer two significant things over the Megadrive version for PAL gamers: 60hz and full screen. At 100 points cheaper it could definately be the best choice.
I've a suspicion NOE is going to withhold SMK for a Xmas "treat". It seems to have this idea that nobody ever reads the internet or knows what's going on in other territories.
I appreciate you're reviewing this as a NA (not just USA) release but its worth pointing out that if and when this hits EU shores it will hold two distinctive advantages over the Mega Drive version:
1. It's 100 points cheaper 2. Like all TG16 games its full screen, full speed, 60hz unlike Sega's PAL conversion of the Megadrive version.
PAL gamers should certainly consider it, although the genesis version has a few extra features over this one hence its "special" tag.
I can't stress enough just how awful Cybernoid is and I'm a big fan of the C64 from back in the day. Avoid it. It has terrible, unfair gameplay and its only redeeming quality is its music.
Like Stevie said, only 4 or 5 people have managed this in Japan. Over here I'll be impressed if we have 1 or 2. Nothing to get excited about really beyond the possibility of getting 500 points for helpeing the odd person.
Been playing this as part of of VC-forums monthly gaming club and boy am I glad I did! I love how each world is so uniquely themed and has its own "special" type of level that deviates from the standard platforming fare.
Thank you for calling it football (the name its known as worldwide, excluding the USA) and leaving 'soccer' to the parenthesis where it rightly belongs.
haha, Gavin, I feel your pain, some of the old Nintendo Club shop stuff was really a rip-off. I believe you did have to print out the stickers yourself too back then! Only thing I've ever got from them was the Melodies of Time CD. Thankfully at least these days Wii points are in ready supply and you can do something useful with your stars.
No, you stated you had a "bank card", by which I took you to mean an ordinary debit card, the type that's attached to a standard current account and allows you to do things like draw money out at cashpoints/ATM's or pay for things electronically . The words Visa and Mastercard don't automatically mean the card is a CREDIT card as you seem to mistakenly believe, Visa is just the name of the corporation that makes these cards for different banks. That's how I use my Visa DEBIT card (aka ordinary bank card used to draw money from my current account or pay for things with) to purchase my wii points. Again I'll reinterate, this is not a CREDIT card. I've never had a credit card in my life but my ordinary standard bank card is made by Visa. With a quick google search I've located this which appears to be all you require (if, in fact, its not what you already own), its a standard debit card with the visa branding available from NAB:
I would buy this if I felt it would support Shenmue 3 finally coming and it could well be a way for Sega to reintroduce the character before an XBLA release for Shenmue's 1 and 2 perhaps?
Strange, because I don't have credit card either (and never have had one) yet I use my BANK CARD to purchase wii points all the time! Tell me again what your problem doing the same is?
Worth pointing out that the hospital prices in this game become increasingly expensive to the point whre they are unaffordable. This makes it a lot tougher than Dragon's Curse where, although increasing with use, they always level out at a reasonable level.
It's 1000 points so what exactly is stopping you getting it?
1. Make sure you have no points on your account 2. Switch your region to UK 3. Buy 1000 points online 4. Download Lostwinds: Winter of Melodias 5. Switch your region back to Australia
Problem solved. As the game is an even 1000 points you don't even have to worry about losing any leftover points when you change back.
I second dimlylitmonkey, Rare today has about as much in common with the Rare of the 90's as the Lynyrd Skynyrd of today has with the Skynyrd of old. It's just a name living off the reputation of its old songs, or in Rare's case games. One decent DS release doesn't change that.
Nintendo's warning doesn't say anything about internet connections because they didn't even consider this when releasing their potentially dangerous update.
Nintendolife is absolutely right to promote this story. If even one Wii was bricked through this update people need to know.
So let's get this straight, if I've never modified my Wii (which I havn't) and bricked it with Nintendo's update (perfectly possible if I had a slightly loose internet connection) it would be "sour grapes" of me to feel disgruntled about it? Sorry but I don't get that logic at all, nor do I get why Nintendo is still stating myths like this one to Eurogamer:
"The symptoms described usually occur when a Wii console has been modified. However, there are a very small number of people reporting problems when a system has never been modified".
Nintendo ought to stop using this as an attempt to promoite its anti homebrew agenda and start responsibly informing people to make sure they have a good quality internet connection before updating so as to avoid needless bricking.
Corbie, you seem to be confused about what causes the bricking. It's got nothing to do with the system detecting homebrew. It's caused by a problem with a persons internet connection interupting the rewrite of the Wii's boot system. If the connection drops while this happens then the download freezes and the system has to be hard reset. unfortunately because the Wii now has incomplete information about how to boot up it doesn't and so is bricked. Nintendo should therefore be warning people at a bare minimum to ensure there connection is fully working while they update.
Corbie, you appear to be missing the point which is the inconvenience of having to box up and send off your Wii to Nintendo to fix and send back losing all your save game data in the process and having to wait 2 weeks or so for Nintendo to send back your Wii.
How any gamer can sit back and say "what's the big deal" to that is beyond me. Nintendo should be pulling this update right now and restoring the shop channel rather than leaving it one there to potentially brick even more Wiis than it already has.
Nintendo should be embarrased by their amateurish attempts to block homebrew. The fact that a few amateur coders can write better code than professionals employed by a company the size of Nintendo is a disgrace.
And here's Codestorm's (i.e NOE's) poorly written, not terribly convincing reply :
thank you for your e-mail.

Clearly someone doesn't understand the point in the Endless Ocean/Forever Blue games.
The day the game includes "deathmatches" of any kind is the day my interest in the franchise dies.

Most online retailers are out of stock in the UK or have a suspicious "1-2 weeks" delivery time, indicating they probably don't have any in stock.
Amazon have the game for full price £34.99 which is probably your best bet.
