Re: PlatinumGames' Live Service Title Is Off To A Really Bad Start

Bakfug

Its crazy to me that people are blaming the developer when Square Enix has consistently made terrible decisions and forced out terrible games nowhere near ready for more than a decade now. The problem is, and will continue to be, upper management at SE who have no idea what they are doing.

Re: It's Official, Nintendo Has Withdrawn Super Smash Bros. From EVO 2022

Bakfug

@yuwarite they have never pulled out of EVO in the past when their games would be there, so at some point, even the most rabid "Nintendo is terrible" kids need to ask themselves what could have possibly brought on this sudden change. Sony asking for a ***** ton of money, offering no platform them to advertise other games, not allowing them to sponsor, not getting any return from viewership monetization, and a million other financial and logistical decisions we will never be privy to leading them to pulling out is a far more believable scenario than anything else here.

Having been to EVO many times, which clearly most haven't, they have cultivated a pretty ***** atmosphere as well, from what they affectionately referred to one year as "thuggery" to side bets out the ass to recent controversy that isn't so easily erased from people's minds, it is not the most appealing event to want to be at despite its size.

Pretending it's Nintendo being "anti-fan" here when they've already announced their own tournaments for Ultimate and Melee too even and haven't pulled out of any other major tournaments is such a strange take, and is a bland, typical attitude you see thrown around because you want to feel victimized by everything a company does for...I dunno, internet clout or some *****. They are clearly attempting to do things right overall, and ignoring everything because they pulled out of one controversy infested, main competition owned tournament is real dumb.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Feel About Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl's Affection Rates?

Bakfug

It feels like it's something that people are going to complain about just because they are looking for something to complain about, while the rest really won't care. The game is very easy even without it and before it wasnt exp share wasn't rebalanced, so it makes very little difference.

The mechanic is significantly more negligible than people are acting like it is. Set the text speed to fast, and the extra time it adds is so little that it's obvious you're looking to complain.

The moment you used items in battle of have it set to switch, you're cheesing the story harder than any small percentage affection heal would.

Self imposed rules ruined since your pokemon got a clutch agency dodge? I guess I don't know why you'd want to lose it, besides the fake justification that it is indeed "harder", but just self impose more rules. There are more than enough things you can do to make it more "difficult".

Crit on a wild Pokemon you wanted to catch? I've got good news for you. Game Freak gave us False Swipe 20+ years ago to mitigate issues like that.

And good news! It actually doesn't effect multiplayer or the battle tower, so if you're looking for actual strategy, you're in luck as those are good.

Don't like it? Hey that's cool. I actually don't care for it much either. Getting mad enough to bring your rage to the internet or write garbage articles? Now let's not be hasty

Re: Duplication Glitch Discovered In The Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes

Bakfug

@Acein210 besides the things other people have said, stat ups like HP Up are great as they both speed up EV training and sell for only 100 less than Nuggets. Also PP Up because it's an unnecessary pain to get them, and generally only a few before the post game, when the only time you might actually need them is during the story when you don't heal for long stretches of time

Re: Duplication Glitch Discovered In The Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes

Bakfug

@wonderclassic nice you fixed it in like 4 seconds. Except when most event legendaries in the past have a fixed trainer ID and a secret ID of 00000, meaning every single person's one time event legendary is exactly the same, and its perfectly reasonable to think someone could have more than one with a series where many faithful buy 2 copies.

And even then, the two IDs together isn't a foolproof way to begin with. It's feasible for someone to have the same trainer name and ID and a Pokemon to end up with the same secret ID as someone else's even if it is so unlikely we'd disregard it as impossible. And if there is a chance it could happen and someone could end up with both, a blanket ban like this is only again punishing someone for playing legitimately.

Re: Duplication Glitch Discovered In The Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes

Bakfug

@Snatcher you are absolutely fine to do this. The things that get flagged in checking are stats that are wrong, abilities and moves that are unlearnable, bad or wrong trainer IDs, balls and encounters that are impossible, such as a cherish ball on a non event Pokemon or a non event pokemon being caught in the wild, or shinies Tha have no legitimate way to be shiny. At the off chance they run a check on random people just playing, a duplicated Pokemon will pass every single check just fine.

@DTfeartheBEARD there is a Switch setting to turn off auto game updates as well.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 16th)

Bakfug

I tried to play through all the Kingdom Hearts games again (barring UX and MoM) before Sora comes out for Smash Bros. I started after the announcement. I made it through 1, CoM and ReCoM (because I'm dumb), 2, ReCoded, and BbS. I am about halfway through 358/2, and I sure am not going to make it in time, but i am still having a lot of fun.

Re: GTA Trilogy's Definitive Edition Will Reportedly Feature 'GTA V-Style Controls'

Bakfug

I'm very excited. I still enjoy these 3 games more than 4 (and expansions) and 5, so I am happy. Reading comments, though, I always feel like I am the only one who ever only listened to the talk radio stations as they were hilarious. Chatterbox from 3 is my favorite in the franchise still.

@tameshiyaku Not only be rude, but why even come here and comment? They are beloved games people have wanted on platforms of their choice with the upgrades described. I see this constantly on Nintendo sites where people come in just to be proud they don't want specific games, and it confuses me every time

Re: It Seems Masahiro Sakurai Will Be Ending His Famitsu Columns Very Soon

Bakfug

Its always the "he deserves a break" comments when it comes to Sakurai, and I just dont get it. Dont get me wrong, I appreciate the love that went into Smash bros, but He works with the company that is pretty well known not to put their devs under undue stress and crunch time, and generally people just continue to work, moving on to the next thing, when they finish another, as is the unfortunate life of being an adult. It just always strikes me as strange that people think he needs some sort of long ass rest from working just because he directed a project they enjoyed.

Re: Review: FIFA 22 - Another Match Abandoned

Bakfug

All these comments are just typical "EA bad" and "I dont want EA on my platform" nonsense you hear from every other Nintendo faithful, and its as tiring as EAs rehashed releases.

You're all here acting like it is some horrible, underhanded thing they are doing, but they are extremely upfront about what it is, and have a reduced price to reflect it. And to be fair, like the actual review says that I'm sure people read, the game itself is still fine, at worst perfectly serviceable especially on the go. The extreme reactions from people don't really seem warranted at all.

They definitely know what they are doing here though. Review a game that doesn't need it to an audience that doesn't want it, then you all flock in and congratulate them for giving it a 2 while they get the ad revenue. It's a good strategy.

Re: Final Fantasy Kart Racer Chocobo GP Will Feature 20+ Characters

Bakfug

@Anti-Matter
It is Vivi most likely replacing generic BM

Also confirmed:
Mecha Chocobo from World of FF
Fat Chocobo
Cid from Chocobo games
Camilla from Chocobo games
Ramuh
Gilgamesh

So 13 so far if I didn't miss anyone

I'd be surprised if Cloud, Squall, and Cactuar don't come back, but I imagine the rest will be new since the PS1 game had some pretty bizarre choices.

Re: Rumour: Developers Have Reportedly Been Working On "4K Switch Games"

Bakfug

@dew12333 it's mainly for big investment firms to pretend like they know what they are investing in. It's not surprising that there is...not so great information about the industry though, with how much information is distorted and poorly reported.

@Dirty0814 a ton goes into both marketing and R&D for systems, so fast tracking something so far above the current Switch that it is just a new console and not a refresh when you have a for sure thing on hand AND during a huge chip shortage is not what I'd consider a good strategy personally. Just keeping a normal console life cycle and putting everything into the successor is a way smarter choice.

@Ocaz The irony is your response is significantly more hostile than mine, which wasn't hostile at all. Nothing you said really makes any sense and unfortunately we are somewhere where you are inviting replies by giving your input

Re: Rumour: Developers Have Reportedly Been Working On "4K Switch Games"

Bakfug

@Ocaz it's like you've never been around for consoles before this one. 5-7 years with the same main console, and supplementary refreshes, is standard. Nintendo, and any platform maker, can't just ***** out yearly upgrades like Apple and just cut them off at some point from compatibility because thats just not how the console industry works based on both game compatibility, as what dev wants to develop for 10 different SKUs at a time, and consumer expectations. It is really not a hard concept nor a surprise they aren't phasing out Switch yet.

Re: Nintendo's Monster Hunter Sale Discounts Five Games And Lots Of Rise DLC

Bakfug

@stipey it feels basically the same, as it is the "same" game (same story and basic progression through the low rank offline) except 3U has significantly more content in monsters, weapon types, G rank difficulty, another partner, and events are downloads and not tied to an online only rotation. If you enjoyed 3, there is little reason not to go for 3U, I'd say. The lighting and FOV feel a little different from the Wii game since it's on a significantly smaller screen, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker, I think.

Re: Nintendo's Monster Hunter Sale Discounts Five Games And Lots Of Rise DLC

Bakfug

Its a shame 4/U never got a console version. It just kills my hands to try and play on 3DS. It's the only games, barring FU, that never got any sort of home console version...

@ActionNineNews "smooth" framerate and higher framerate are two different things. Either way, I cant imagine anyone cares too much.

@Specter_of-the_OLED I wonder how many times they have to tell us that World is 5 but they gave it a different name to not alienate new players

Re: Review: Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania - Feature-Packed, But Far From Top Banana

Bakfug

Man, are yall blowing one review out of proportion I feel. I got the game early, and having played the GameCube games a ton with my friend, I am having a blast here as well. For 99% of the people, you won't notice any differences unless someone specifically tells you, and even then, those differences aren't bad in any way.

Now not being able to switch off in the main game for multiplayer is a shame though, but not a deal breaker in any way.

If you were actually excited for the game, I dont understand why you suddenly wouldn't be because of one review that isn't even that negative, especially when again, chances are you'd never feel any difference.

Re: Pokémon Unite's Latest Update Fixes Crustle And Lucario Bugs

Bakfug

@justintabs I guess "hilarious for a little while" to me was 4 seconds in a standard match, personally even if it was the lesser of the two issues. Lucario one shotting basically anything was never enjoyable...

I found is more ***** than anything that they did nothing for days in a game they want to be competitive when there are already plenty of ways other similar games deal with unintentional bugs like this. I play a fair amount of ranked every day, and it was a huge turnoff to see that you either exploit bugs or lose matches, especially before you're even aware there is issues

Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online N64 Game Ranked

Bakfug

Number one for me is easily either F-Zero X or Sin and Punishment. I've always considered Banjo-Kazooie one of Rare's weaker N64 games don't @ me, but if it opens the door for Diddy Kong Racing, I am glad it's here nonetheless. The DS version of DKR just never felt right to me for some reason. I never looked too closely at difference, but it felt it handled differently.

Also here's to hoping Nintendo performs a licensing miracle and gets Goldeneye on here. I'm sure going through 4 (or more) companies and licensing the look of an actor no longer current won't be thaaaaaat hard right.

Re: Atelier Series Teases Six Exciting Projects For Its 25th Anniversary

Bakfug

@Thulfram no need to aapologize! It's actually a pretty common suggestion from people that play the games because it's the "first" game in English that goes with the original style of gameplay, so ignoring Iris and Mana Khemia. It's just one i don't agree with because so many people quit them early because of the time limit

@dluxxx hopefully you enjoy it! It's pretty nice they seem to all be on sale this week too!

Re: Atelier Series Teases Six Exciting Projects For Its 25th Anniversary

Bakfug

@Thulfram I don't agree with this absolute choice whatsoever. Rorona is structured very uniquely next to every other game, which I personally love, but the constant barrage of strict time limits is a huge turnoff to a lot of people, and not knowing that going in really burns many people attempting to try the games when there are plenty of other options to choose from thatbwould be more suitable.

Re: Atelier Series Teases Six Exciting Projects For Its 25th Anniversary

Bakfug

@dluxxx Rorona, Ayesha, and Sophie are all good choices since they start their respective trilogy (but actually 4 games for some now hahaha).

Rorona is fairly strict time limits and heavy item management, Ayesha is open ended with an overall timelimit in which the game just kinda throws you into doing whatever you think you should to advance, while still giving you some guidance here and there, and Sophie has no time limits and a more straightforward, guided game.

My personal favorite is Rorona, which is generally not a popular opinion hahahaha. But the follow up game, Totori (which is structured like Ayesha) is super popular. All the games here have time limits which I know is a divisive mechanic.

Ayesha is generally regarded as one of the most popular as well. Escha and Logy, the follow up to Ayesha, eases on time limit stuff and Shallie drops it completely and subsequently, so even if time limits aren't your thing, it might be worthwhile still as I think it is a better trilogy than the Sophie games.

Absolutely would recommend Sophie if time limits just aren't your thing, though. It is still one of the better games I think.

I guess there is Ryza, as well. Some people absolutely love it, so my opinion here isn't absolute by any means, but I hated it. The series is about character interaction, multiple endings, and continuously crafting better items to help progress, and all of that was removed or simplified to the point where it just feels bad if you've been playing the games for 20 years hahahaha. Even that aside, the story and characters themselves were so shallow, and the pacing was so bad. I dunno. Maybe it's worth playing before all the others and then going back? It's too hard for me to say.

Or you could go way back and get Iris 1 on PS2 which is heavier on normal RPG stuff, but its super good. Mana Khemia 1 is somewhat similar and real good too.

Also dont even consider Nelke, as it's just a city building sim that relies heavily on "remember this character?!?"

Sorry if this isn't helpful at all hahahahaha

Re: Atelier Series Teases Six Exciting Projects For Its 25th Anniversary

Bakfug

@dluxxx Half RPG half item management/crafting games, generally with cute(?) girl lead going off on some sort of adventure and becoming an alchemist to make items, which is the really short answer. It's a pretty hit or miss franchise, to be honest. I love... some of them, but at the same time I am very aware of why they wouldn't be appealing to a lot of people.

Re: Atelier Series Teases Six Exciting Projects For Its 25th Anniversary

Bakfug

Even without the leak, Sophie is in a new outfit and super prominent there and they've had a pretty big push of her with merchandise, so it's not too surprising.

I really hope we a game that's not that or Ryza 3 as well announced. I just finished Ryza 1 again, after what I felt was not a great attempt at it the first time I played through, and I I enjoyed it even less and it's easily my least favorite in the franchise. While some QoL features are nice, and it's great they look nice compared to older games, the story and characters are extremely flat and bland in both Ryza games, and the synthing is so braindead due to changes that there is no fun for me there.

Re: Sega To Announce "New RPG" At This Year's Tokyo Game Show

Bakfug

@Specter_of-the_OLED
Those are extremely generous percents, I feel. If I had to make similarly styled guesses, I'd say:
New RGG Studio game/Yakuza 8: 90%
Sakura Wars: 5%
Brand New Game: 5%
Everything else: 0%

All Sega has done currently is rely on RGG Studio very heavily, so I just can't see it being anything else.
