Ever since I got Chrono Trigger for my DS, I just haven't cared as much about VC updates as much as I used to, only one game can make me put Chrono Trigger down right now and that's Chrono Trigger, sadly
There's only so many games that are available to be released, if Nintendo were to release all of the good ones one after another that would leave a LONG period of dead space where we'd get nothing but crappy games one after another. Trust me, Nintendo has a much greater chance of selling their sub-par games by releasing them in between the releases of the above average ones(DKC) and the stellar ones(SMRPG/Manna
Wow, Secret of Mana! I rented it back when I had my SNES but I never really got a chance to really play it. Unfortunately, SMRPG was my first role playing game so I was probably expecting the graphics to be a little better. Of course, now that I'm grown I have the ability to separate graphics from gameplay so I might just give this classic another shot.
The vc will be around long after the wii dies. It'll most likely turn up on future Nintendo consoles where we'll be able to download/stream gamecube and wii games right along with SNES and Ultra 64 games.
So what does that mean for Donkey Kong 64. Rare only developed that game, they didn't own the rights to it. Hmm, I guess we'll never see Conkers Bad Fur Day on the VC either. On a side note, Microsoft doesn't really consider Nintendo or the VC to be much of a threat to there target market of 18 to 30 year olds therefor there's still hope that we might actually see these games in the future although not much I'm afraid
I forget sometimes that Earthbound is actually the sequel to another game. We should get a translated version of it's predecessor before we get it. As far as mother 3 goes, it was a hand held only, so don't count on it coming to the vc.
If they would just give us the prequel to mother 2 that would make me happy. Then we could all beg for a very unlikely import, or....they could just give us Earthbound
This game was pretty awesome for it's time. Instead of being pre-rendered by sg workstations like DKC, all of the polygons and 3d effects for this game were rendered on the fly using a process called vector piece animation which made it the most sophisticated 16 bit game ever made.
I wonder how much of the code had to be rearranged to get Vectorman to emulate. I mean, isn't the only reason it's called vectorman is because it uses some fancy technology called vector piece animation which allowed it to have polygonal sprites(oxymoron, I know)and 3D graphics.
Oh my gosh! Vectorman can actually shoot in more directions than one I am so getting this game. I used to have it for my Genesis but I sold it to buy smokes(fags to people in the UK I've since quite smoking so I can now afford to get this amazing game.
@carson "its most likely not going to come in my lifetime"
What, are you terminally ill or something, we'll get it eventually. Oh, btw, it's on the Mega man anniversary collection for the GCN, Xbox, or PS2 so just get that.
That egg-plant creature from the old Captain N the Game Master tv show makes a cameo in this game. I only saw him once(pure dumb luck) in the palace bedroom at the mushroom kingdom. I think he said something about mother brain, but it's been yrs. since I've played.
It wouldn't make since for Nintendo to release Gameboy games on the Virtual Console since the gameboy is not a console but a handheld(I know, bein' technical here). They'll probably end up having a download service for a future iteration of the Gameboy/DS that allows you to download classic games and store them right on the unit. That would make more since because, quiet frankly, gameboy games are not designed to be played on a large screen. They could call it Virtual game boy or just Virtual Boy, opps, my bad http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_Virtual_Boy
@Stuffgamer1 "Dude, every time I come to this site (several times a day) yesterday and today, your avatar's different! It's getting very confusing, so please just pick one already (personally, I liked your old one best, but ANY stability would be appreciated)!"
Does anyone know any of the codes that are in SMRPG. I remember there being a few.
@Bendover83 "Bill Gates reminds me of Uncle Scrooge. I can see Bill swimming in a money vault. He may not get everything from Microsoft, but he is filthy rich from making it what it is today."
Bill gates is to smart to keep his money horded away in a money bin/vault. He keeps it in banks where it can actually earn interest.
@ MarkyVigoroth "I would rather wait for the PS3, since I am waiting for SquareEnix to release those super-games they are developing."
The only super game that Square should be developing is a sequel to Chrono Cross which was the sequel to Chrono Trigger. Other than that I have only mediocre interest. Oh, and they should bring back some of the old Enix franchises.
@ BB Sting: Is that the main reason why people should but a PS3? Honestly, I thought 360 had all of those good M rated games while the PS3 has all of the racing games.
I was just comparing the PS3 to the Wii. The 360 has a fair amount of American made rpgs from the likes of Bioware, Obsidian etc., that delve into somewhat more realistic themes than most Japanese rpgs that you'll find on a Sony platform. Jade Empire 2 anyone.
@Saint Nick
"It's a funny thing but the Xbox has simply nabbed ever good exclusive game. Most games that people wish were PS3 only titles have jumped ship to join the flock over in Microsofts pond."
The Xbox attracts a lot of developers that have traditionally been known for pc games. Apparently, developing for the 360 is similar to developing for Vista so it's only natural that would be the case.
Well, the main reason to own a PS3 from a software standpoint is if you really like M rated games. I'm not really in to all the blood and gore and killing random prostitutes that the system provides so I tend to stick to milder games(although I thought Half-life was the bomb). Some might argue the Final Fantasy angle, but let's be honest here, Final Fantasy lost it's soul long ago when it's creator Hironobu Sakaguchi was axed from the company(without him square is now a rectangle)
They just lowered the price of the Xbox 360. Not sure what the new price is, but I heard that it's even lower than the wii. I've been holding off on buying my own wii because I've been waiting for a price drop+color variations. Here's hoping for a price drop to compete with the 360
"I'd like to see ANY game with Wiimote support! How long ago were we promised Duck Hunt? Come on, Nintendo, it can't be that hard to hack an on-screen cross-hair into these ROMs, can it?"
Nintendo doesn't want to make the good folks over at PETA angry by re-releasing a game where you murder poor little Innocent fowl in cold blood. Nintendo should just release a remake on Wii-ware where the ducks actually shoot back. That would keep the lawsuits(and pipe-bombs) at bay (^)
@x.SuperMario.x Aparentlyyou've failed to see the merits of holographic storage from simpl;y reading the article. It applies to th vc because it is a storage medium which allows you to read plus write to it, much like the flash drive all ready inside of the wii(which we all know doesn't rovide nearly enough space. Here, mabe this will clarify things for you. http://www.totalvideogames.com/news/Could_Holography_Cure_Nintendo&_039;s_Storage_Space_Blues_13579_5386_0.htm
This was practically the first rpg I've ever played. If it wasn't for this game I may have never been turned on to the genre to begin with. I originally bought it because it was a Mario game, not because it was an rpg. I tended to play it safe and only buy games with familiar characters in them. Which means that I would have never even considered the likes of Final Fantasy 7 if this game hadn't turned me onto rpgs. Thanks Nintendo! Now just give us Earthbound.

I think it's time that archive laws are created in the U.S./world.The world is just totally different than it used to be. Countless movies, games, etc will be lost to future generations because of all the legal hoopla that it takes to preserve them. We need laws that recognise that just because a particular license has expired doesn't mean that art should be lost forever.

The rating system should allow for half points as well.

Oh well, there's always the Japanese version.

Don't forget the Super Bomberman games for the SNES/Super Famicon.

Re: EU VC Releases: Master System Sonic & Two C64 Classics
Well. there's still plenty of systems that still haven't made it to the vc, Atari Jaguar,.....2600......Intellivision, etc., etc.
Sure, it would be great to get Commodore 64 available over here, but let's not forget all of the other failed systems out there.
Re: USA VC Releases: Super Mario RPG and Clu Clu Land
I dont think there will ever be as epic a release as SMRPG on VC again I think Im going to cry.
There, there Will. I'm sure we'll get Chrono Trigger in ohhh, about a hundred yrs. I'm sure your grand kids will enjoy it.

Only seven more to go before we get to nine, and I have all of those on the anniversary collection.
Re: USA VC Releases: Super Mario RPG and Clu Clu Land
Geno is owned by Square/enix so Nintendo would have to ask for their permission to put him in another game.
