Poll: What Course Are You Most Excited About In The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 5 DLC?

Daisy Cruiser. It's one of my favorites from Double Dash. I love taking the shortcut down below. Moonview Highway is a close second because of how unexpected it was.

Probably the new Squeaky Clean Sprint track. But Daisy Cruiser and Koopa Cape are good classics that I'm excited are back.

Always interested in the Tour tracks since I never played that game.

Don't love the concept of Squeaky Clean Sprint.
It's kind of impressive though I guess, how all over the place the new tracks are.
A loving recreation of Yoshi's Island, to that.

Both new cups look pretty lacklustre honestly.
How they've made Sunset Wilds look less appealing than it did on GBA, I don't know.

Daisy Cruiser I guess would be my most anticipated, if you're pushing me to choose. Well, Vancouver Velocity doesn't look terrible I suppose.

The ONE new track, of course.

But because I've never played Tour, those tracks will be new to me as well.

And from among the classic tracks, I was mistaken in thinking that Daisy Cruiser was already in 8 Deluxe, and remembered that it was in MK7.

Nintendo have really been milking Mario Kart dry this generation. I wish they had saved all of these tracks for MK9, because I can't say that I am overly enthusiastic for a new barebones Mario Kart that will predictably be supplemented with a crapton of paid DLC... again.

And at this rate, they'll hardly have any legacy tracks left. But I think MK8's biggest sin, and particularly with this DLC pack, is that it has essentially stripped past games of what made them distinct. Frankly, I would have preferred an "All Stars" compilation of past Mario Kart games, where each game at least had something a little different to offer in terms of gameplay and art style.

I'm frankly bored with MK8D. Yes, we have an abundance of tracks/characters, but ultimately, most of them play the same.

I’m loving the booster course pass. As a Canadian I’m looking forward to the Vancouver track. Most of these courses look like they’re gonna be super fun.

Toilet course was perfectly made for those that play their Switch on the toilet.

Those who haven't played Tour are not prepared for how much of a joyous spectacle Vancouver Velocity is, it might be my favorite track in Tour. Very excited to play it in an actually good Mario Kart game (sorry to Tour fans).

Second place goes to Moonview Highway because I always found it to be criminally underrated and I'm very excited to see it back.

It's pretty much Daisy Cruiser than a steep drop to the other retro ones then a steep drop to the Tour tracks.

Daisy Cruiser because Double Dash!! has a special place in my heart. But I love the new tracks so far too. I've even grown fond of the Tour tracks New York and Berlin. So just bring it all, I can't get enough of this game no matter how old it is getting. Way to go to keep it fresh Nintendo.

This is probably the only wave so far where none of the tracks look like they're going to be a miss. Each of the new city tracks does something pretty substantial to stand out from the rest of the pack. I think Athens will be a great addition, it's the only ancient ruins track besides Thwomp Ruins (if you don't count like pyramids. Vancouver always looked like the most interesting city from Tour, with you racing over a hockey rink. LA Laps is the only one I'm not sure I'll like that much, but the fact you drive on a beach makes it pretty distinct from the rest.

First we had a child's bedroom, and I think the addition of a bathroom is pretty cool. Wasn't sure how I'd feel about it when it was first datamined to be a thing in Tour, but in execution--they managed to pack it with lots of cool details, and the track seems like it will be a lot of fun. I think all 4 of the returning tracks are pretty solid picks as well. Daisy Cruiser, Sunset Wilds, and Koopa Cape are all beloved classics, and it's easy to see why.

This is going to make me sound basic, but I'm most excited about Moonview Highway. It's one of my favorite tracks along with Mushroom City; they have banger music, and I love racing around a populated city at night. (Toad's Turnpike never really did it for me.) Admittedly, all the other city tracks--especially New York Minute--do make Moonview's inclusion a bit less special. But it got a gorgeous visual overhaul. Blue is my favorite color, and this track has some of the prettiest hues of blue I've ever seen. The track also looks nearly identical to the location where The Last Resort is in Luigi's Mansion 3. My headcannon is that Yellow Toad had to drive past Moonview Highway as one of his last stops shortly before the bus arrived at the hotel.

Here's how I would rank my hype levels for the new tracks:

1. Moonview Highway
2. Sunset Wilds
3. Daisy Cruiser
4. Koopa Cape
5. Athens
6. Squeaky Clean Sprint
7. Vancouver Velocity
8. LA Laps

I'm going to repeat myself for the 2,987,364th time and say that I really hope Nintendo is working on a second Booster Pass with an additional 48 tracks to just being over everything they already remade in Tour. There's still so many fantastic tracks that we know from datamines aren't going to make the cut in Wave 6. Luigi's Mansion and Airship Fortress would be the biggest missed opportunities. It's hard to call this the definitive Mario Kart game without those two in particular. I would also be over the moon to see Banshee Boardwalk and Bowser's Castle 64. So keep it coming, Nintendo! I will give you my kidney.

Edit: Also, the Kamek and Petey hype is real. (Sorry, Wiggler.) Let's keep the character DLC going as well. Pauline, Diddy, Dixie, Funky, Nabbit; new costumes like Dr. Mario and Builder Mario; new Battle Mode tracks and car parts... Nintendo, I will literally throw in my liver and gallbladder to sweeten the deal.

Daisy Cruiser is a classic, Double Dash was one of my first games pretty much ever. Koopa Cape is possibly the best track in Wii to be honest, right up there with Coconut Mall anyway.

Why is it that the new courses/the one's to look forward to. (3ds rainbow Road, Squeaky clean sprint, ice cream [forgot the track name) are last in the cup to race on?

I want to race Squeaky clean sprint with Wiggler and Kamek. Though the other tracks are fun to race on. Wave 5 is probably the best one. Unless Wave 6 tops it by adding Toad Factory...

@Not_Soos Imo, there's more than enough race tracks to last for this iteration and probably save it up for MK9. I'd prefer they instead pony up more battle courses if they wanna do a second wave. Seriously, 8 battle tracks outdone by 96 race tracks. Are you kidding me?

To be completely frank I don’t give a rat’s tail about the new courses this time around — my prodigal son Petey Piranha has finally come home.

Literally I was waiting for all the DLC to launch before buying the pass, but Petey pushed me to go ahead and fork over the money for it LOL. Love that goofy goober.

3 city tracks?

I don’t know if this is unpopular but I could really do without the real city tracks.

I can’t race on them, there’s too much stuff happening.

I'm excited to see Moonview Highway. I really thought with all of the city Tour tracks that tracks like Moonview Highway, Mushroom Bridge and Mushroom City would be seen as too redundant to have a chance. I'm glad that wasn't the case.

The ones I’m always the least excited for are the real world ones from Tour but then I play them and love them.

Like some others here, honestly many of the tracks don't look interesting to me. Infact the DLC waves bringing a multitude of very simple looking tracks is consistently bringing the average down for overall graphical quality and fun compared to the basically flawless original MK8 track lineup.

You could argue more content is always good but in my neurodiverse brain it actually really messes up how I feel about the game when the quality of the content is so mixed. I wish that rather than having all the stuff mixed together, they would have split each cup to a "Tour Tracks" cup, "Retro SNES" etc to make it easier to avoid, and also less jarring when you chose to play as them, and the graphical quality and complexity stays consistent between each track.

Squeaky Clean Sprint looks brilliant though, I really like it. I'm glad that the truely new courses are being made and added and are still of a consistent high quality.

Out of the returning tracks, Daisy Cruiser is the one I'm most interested in, because Double Dash is the game I've played the least (never really gelled with the double mechanic) and I really like the idea of such a different location - plus I love Daisy as a character

I'm also glad we are getting more playable characters. Thats always a bonus in my eyes.

Kooper Cape is one of the best Mario Kart tracks.

I’ve not seen the trailer as I like to be surprised, but despite not liking Double Dash much, Daisy Cruiser was a lot of fun on that game so it should be really good in Mario Kart 8.

It's always nice seeing more Double Dash and Wii tracks. Tour's layout for GBA Sunset Wilds is simplified compared to the Super Circuit original (much like Sky Garden in wave 1) so that's why it's not higher in my list. While I'm glad that Squeaky Clean Sprint and the real world city tracks are being preserved via the Booster Course Pass, I wish that there was a better balance between retro and new (e.g. the 5 retro, 3 new split that waves 1-3 had).

i don't get why Koopa Kape is so popular
it is a fine track, but there is nothing really special about it

i can just imagine how cool mario kart 10 tracks are gonna be considering how good the real new tracks in the dlc are.

"excited", the bathroom stage I guess, but I know I'll have exhausted these 8 tracks in a couple days. They really shoulda released all the DLC at once, but then some people wouldn't have been duped into the premium subscription.

I have the most interesting in course Athens Dash from Mario Kart Tour.

Probably the new one and the GameCube one. But excited is a stretch, been playing it for 10 years now. I'm not even sure I'd be excited for Mario Kart X at this point

Has to be Koopa Cape for me. But I'll happily check out every course. I'm just happy to finally have Kamek though, who had been denied his spot on the roster for far too long.

I was just talking to my brothers the other day about how I missed Koopa Cape and now it's making a comeback lol! That's definitely the course I'm most hyped for. I just hope they don't change it too much 😅

Their choice of Double Dash tracks continues to confuse me. Baby Park and Dry Dry Desert are solid choices, but I'd gladly trade out the rest for Wario Colosseum, DK Mountain, Dino Dino Jungle, and Peach Beach.

I voted for Squeaky. Always glad to see a new track.

But . . . I didn't play Tour much . . . so any track from there is going to be basically new for me.

I think my family will get a kick out of the Los Angeles map as we took a trip to California. I haven't played that track . . . but is that the Santa Monica Pier in the background there?

But overall . . . excited and glad to be getting more tracks!

@h15c0r3r I am not one to complain about graphics and textures, but some of the Tour tracks look so bland….

@h15c0r3r I'm glad its not just me that feels this way - theres plenty of other people above who seem to agree. I did wonder whether it was a "me" thing or I was being irrational because when I mentioned this in a previous topic someone got really mad at me as if complaining about extra content was insane - how could extra stuff make the game worse? I can see that arguement but it really damages the overall feeling of quality for me.

Consistency of assets, levels etc is very important to me in whether a product feel professional or amateurish. I was so blown away by MK8 on Wii U - but its nearly a decade old. The fact we are getting "new" content thats noticably worse is just really frustrating.

It almost annoys me to the point of wanting to uninstall the dlc - I actually did after the first wave or 2. I'm aware thats somewhat irrational, and I genuinely like the new tracks and characters. I reinstalled it for Birdo! lol

I wish I could pay to get them as unlockables in the game, and that I had to complete Mario karttour style achievement to unlock them (e.g. take out 10 karts in a banana-only race, etc ..)
Or finish 1st in custom cups with 3 random tracks and only 2 laps.

Squeaky clean sprint reminds me of Micromachines I had on PS1 so I'd vote for that.

People asked why there's no more F-Zero. Nintendo has found they can create new DLC for a nearly decade-old game instead of creating a whole new game. :/

Chose Squeaky Clean Sprint for this one as I think it’s a incredibly pretty and fun looking stage and honestly they really haven’t missed with these brand new tracks yet. Loved Sky High Sundae.

Daisy Cruiser - I'm a Double Dash!! guy.

As a Double dash fan, Daisy Cruiser has me more excited, however, i like how they are introducing brand new stages and the cherry on top, my boy Kamek! Can't wait to race against my kids

I would have voted for the Double Dash track just because I have the most fond memories of that game, but I went with the brand new bathroom track just because it's new and also looks good.

You would think that 48 tracks would be enough for everyone to get all of our favorites, but here we are. While I admit that most of my personal Wish List of tracks has been added or announced for the Booster Course Pass, I've also had a gnawing feeling of running out of chances with others like Dino Dino Jungle. As I mentioned in an earlier post, it also feels like some of the Bowser courses from across the history of the franchise have also been slighted thus far; I recall them being some of the best and most challenging.

The single biggest culprit for this has without question been the gross over-representation of MK Tour tracks in the Pass. While I acknowledge that some of them (like Ninja Hideaway) have fit in with the overall MK theme, the Tour tracks in general just haven't done it for me; being based on real-life cities, most just don't have the creativity or the feel of what we've come to expect from Mario Kart. One Tour track for each Wave I could live with, but two or even three each time has been overkill, and it's really cut down on the actual number of legacy tracks most of us were likely hoping to get when the Pass was first announced.

Since Nintendo has doubled the available number of tracks to 96, once the final Wave releases it would be great fan service to include a mode where players can create Cups of their own from scratch using the entire selection. It would make for awesome customization for those living room parties with family and friends, racing on a bunch of favorite tracks back-to-back.
Overall the Booster Course Pass has still been a great value and doubled the overall number of tracks as well as increased an already burgeoning roster of characters, but I have a feeling that when the final Wave is revealed a lot of folks will feel some disappointment that a favorite track (or more than one) didn't make the cut. But who knows, maybe Nintendo will pleasantly surprise us with the last wave in some way.

The kids chose Daisy's Cruiser as the level they would most like to play. Good choice!

Kind of weird that they haven't (to my knowledge) held an online vote for Mario Kart courses akin to the Smash roster poll.

They'd learn very quickly that everybody wants Airship Fortress.

@Captain_Toad Yeah, MK9 could be out sometime next year along with a new console, although that could be a long ways to go. But still, if Nintendo makes a booster course pass vol.2, it would probably take them another year, if they don't pick up the pace. And even then, adding even more tracks would leave basically nothing for MK9. But I certainly wouldn't mind more battle arenas...

Was more disappointed Pauline wasn't one of the playable characters. Still, there are other slots left, so hopefully she is one of those slots!

They need to stop adding GBA courses, since those are easily the most bland and short. They lack so much appeal compared to the other courses, and they're just filling up the selection when there are so much better tracks. One course I would love to see in Wave 6 is Rosalina's Ice World, with the slopes, underwater section, music (though for some reason most of the music for the tracks they added are worse than the original versions), atmosphere, penguins, detail, penguins. Okay, it's all about the penguins.

How totally unsurprising that the Tour courses are getting the least amount of votes lol
