Earlier this year at the Xbox E3 Press Conference, TT Games revealed Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. This next chapter in the series will include content from all nine of the main Star Wars films and is scheduled to arrive at some point next year on all major platforms.
Speaking to Nintendo Everything not long ago, TT Games associate producer James Burgon revealed how the team really wanted to deliver on the Switch front, and that the earliest build of the game ran like a dream:
The first build that we had on Switch ran like a dream, so it’s great. With the new technology, we started off and had that in mind because Switch is one of our biggest platforms actually in the US, so we really want to do it justice on that platform.
TT Games head of design Arthur Parsons added to this, mentioning how TT Games "loves" the Switch, and obviously has a long-running history with Nintendo platforms. The company's aim is to always release the "same game" across all platforms.
If you go back to the original Star Wars games with the Complete Saga which is one of the first game that I worked on back in 2006 – those games and Indy 1, and that kind of stuff, they were on Wii and then the Wii U. TT has been really good about doing the same game across all platforms without having to make it so much worse because we’ve been doing this for a long, long time. So the Switch, that’s not a challenge for us. Yeah there’s different technical hardware and software things with all consoles, but we work hard to make sure the experience is as good as it can be on all platforms
Is this a game you plan to add to your Switch collection when it is released? Leave a comment down below.

Heard stuff like this before. Remember Project Cars and Alien's Colonial Marines?
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt though as I'm sure it's actually running on the system.
Very excited about this one. Will be getting day one no matter what
Need to see more but I’ll likely pick this up. Lego games are always fun multiplayer games with my kids. I’d love to see them include online and/or wireless co-op as well. Think it’s long overdue.
Has there been a Lego game that ran bad on the Switch?
So is this a compilation in addition to levels of the latest two films or totally new levels for every episode?
i cannot wait for this game to be released on the switch -gonna die happily q u q....ahhh all 6 films that i love of star wars <3 i hate the other two new films :/ they can kiss my boot.
This is just a compilation title right? They're reusing the Lego star wars 1+2 levels?
@Aurumonado Nope; they are creating new levels for each movie from scratch.
@Captain_Toad
Lego City.
All the Lego games on Wii-U ran like ass too, with framerates hitting sub-20fps quite often as well.
What are they supposed to say? Lol
If it runs like a dream just say 1080p 60fps and drop the mic
I really wish TT Fushion want to consider Normal LEGO games without Western franchises / Super hero costumes.
Maybe LEGO Racing or LEGO Builders without attacking something or LEGO rhythm games with Japanese artist songs.
Just be Casual and Normal like LEGO CITY and i might consider.
It is a LEGO game... Even my laptop can run LEGO games.
There is no reason, no excuse for a LEGO GAME to run anything but buttery smooth on Switch. The games haven't seriously changed since PS2. They just get made at a high res.
@Heavyarms55 I am not really worried about how it runs. What I want is a little bit more consequence and some style to the fights without timed button events. I really like how the last DC and Marvel games were. Just a little bit more to the fighting and difficulty and I can say that LEGO games are awesome beat-em-ups.
@Coolie
Oh that's actually really cool
@MidnightLaces TFA was the only good one in this new trilogy then a certain idiot came along and ruined episode 8 which cause episode 9 to be lackluster which im hoping disney fires kennedy and rian so they dont ruin anything else they touch.
From what I remember of the Last Jedi in theaters 2 years ago, it was alright from what I remember. It had some interesting ideas and was entertaining. But, I do think it could've used some editing or rewrites and some of the SFX looked off like I have no problem with Leia surving in space for a few minutes (Star Wars has never been a realistic depiction of space) or the idea of using the force, but the execution was off with how they depicted it.
Honestly, I can't ever get too angry at these movies. They've always been goofy space fantasies. In my mind only the OT is canon with anything else being non canon (even a lot of the good EU stuff). I still think the worse thing to happen to this franchise is the Special Edition tampering with no option to watch the original version in a high quality manner (officially). Especially since it came from George Lucas, who argued a decade before the first special edition against altering film post-release.
Considering TT has been able to get all LEGO games on Switch to run in parity to their Xbox One and PS4 counterparts speaks to the optimization and work they do. LEGO City Undercover was the first and it runs at 1080p (30 fps)on Switch while the Xbox One runs at 900p (but 60 fps). The PS4 also runs it 1080p 60 fps in level and then 30 fps in the main world. The PS4 also boasts some nice lighting flourishes but they are easily missed unless you see them side by side. All around I've been very impressed with LEGO games on Switch so far. Although LEGO on Wii U had the singular advantage in two player mode where each player would get their own screen, one the TV and the other the GamePad. It made for some great multiplayer.
If it runs like the lego harry potter collection I will be a happy guy!
Please port Lego Lord of the Rings!
Looking forward to this, should be plenty of content in this one. Providing it runs well should be well worth picking up..
@Nico07,
I played Lego city to death on the Wii U, of course then tere was nothing to compare it too, I was not going to pick the game up for the Swich but bought it on sale on the Switch e-Shop, and wow this game is such an improvement over the Wii U in every aspect, it's a little choppy in handheld mode but still very playable, and the big open world area was and still is a good benchmark for any systems performance.
@Spoony_Tech nah these lot are genuine! They actually supported wiiu and Nintendo at a bad time
@Anti-Matter
why? they popular and that includes eastern hemisphere, the vast majority of those in eastern hemisphere dont share your biased views.
@suikoden
I don't like their popularity.
I don't like with Western franchises / Western superheroes from their looking, the color schemes, the shapes, the geometry, the concept, the vibes, the popularity, etc.
I can barf just look at the silly costumes of Batman or Superman or Thor or Wonder Woman or Spider man. I don't even want to wear that silly costumes or having them in my room.
I prefer Japanese franchises such as Pokemon, Yokai Watch, Monster Farm, Final Fantasy, Sailor Moon, etc because they have better in almost everything, from character design, storyline, color schemes, shapes, geometry, trivia and etc. Moreover, some of Japanese franchises have inspired me for creating my own fictional characters in my design portfolio.
Don't ask again why did i never like such popular Western franchises, because they were lame, boring, uninspiring and will never be in my heart. And i have told you if i was the Opposite / Anomaly.
And my dislikeness about Western franchises was not a bias. It was my favor. I favor something not too silly or too Western. I prefer something casual or a bit Japanese or athletic looking. Just like choosing better outfits to wear.
@Anti-Matter
fair enough, but still think you are missing out on some good games
Lego games are way better with achievements/trophies. I wish Nintendo would get on board.
@Anti-Matter just ignore the popular games and play games that fit your heart. It has to fit your heart to be fun.
You would expect this to run well really. Lego games aren’t massively demanding.
I played Lego Dimentions on the WiiU again this week and i'm still very sad that game ended befor the starwars miniatures came in. Also I Would like the DLC (end game) of the hobbit so I can end that game please
@Anti-Matter I’ve always thought this. Make a Castle LEGO game not tied to a franchise. The wizards can have magic powers similar to the Jedi’s using the Force. You could make it a dungeon exploration adventure. And you would have a new story that doesn’t follow known movies.
They wouldn’t have to share the profits with an IP beyond LEGO, however, the franchises probably also help fund the development of the games.
@Coolie You are probably right on this (with fewer levels per movie since there is more material to cover). However, has it been confirmed that the old levels won’t be used? I’ve just seen the teaser trailer (which was awesome, but just showed cut scenes).
I liked a lot of Last Jedi (especially Luke’s role), but it did have too much slapstick and non-subtle humor. It is why we quickly tired of Jar-Jar too.
Leave the goofy humor for the LEGO games.
@Tandy255 I remember the developers saying when the game was announced that they when making new levels they wanted to focus on areas not included in existing Lego Star Wars games. So while I guess there could be levels from the old Lego Star Wars games, the fact that they said it wouldn’t be a remaster and that the combat system will be updated leads me to think that they are building this game from the ground up.
@Tandy255
I expect TT Fushion can make different LEGO games not tied by Western licences.
Let's say LEGO Racing, LEGO Dance / Rhythm, LEGO Builders (upgrade version of LEGO World), LEGO Sports, LEGO RPG, LEGO Party, LEGO Girls, LEGO Fighter (Like Reality Fighting PS VITA but with LEGO characters), etc.
I am so excited about this. The Star Wars lego games were some of the best, along with the Indiana ones, Lord of the Rings and Hobbit ones. When the speaking characters came into them too the inside jokes about the films they were linked to made them some much better. Can’t wait!!
I can’t wait. The last movie got me hyped
@Anti-Matter You literally bought Race With Ryan bruh wyd talkin about character designs
weeb
@Braok
Pardon me.
I haven't bought Race with Ryan yet. 🤨
I grew up on the original Lego Star Wars games. I even played The Clone Wars and The Force Awakens. Lego games aren't typically too demanding, so it's no surprise The Skywalker Saga will run well on Switch. As for me, I'll stick to the PS4. Trophies alone tip the scale for me in multiplats.
@Spoony_Tech Since when did a Lego game run bad on a Nintendo console?
@Heavyarms55 arguably theyve advanced a decent amount in lighting and reflections.
@RiasGremory TFA wasn't good, it was complete utter garbage :s.. just nope. and yes they did, in fact, ruin the entire franchise by allowing that cancerous of a woman to run the poor series to its death bed.
disney doesn't care for anything, but your money so i doubt they'll listen. -look at how they rejected a dead boy's simple hopeful request. he wanted to (if my memory serves me well) have a spider man grave, and disney rejected him then tried to play cool and innocent around that time by announcing something "cool" -they didn't get off the hook that easily. -just knowing this matter of the many things disney has done in the years that are majorly screwed up -isn't going to help you out on 'hoping disney will fire a person nobody wants'. the series is already dead lol xD it's just not gonna happen and people know this already, which freaking sucks.
@companyoflosers I mean yeah, there's surface details like that. But that's pretty much it.
Love Star Wars and grew up with TT’s LEGO games. Super excited to see how they adapt the latest films.
@Toy_Link thankfully i have those awesome original theatrical versions of the original three movies on bluray.
Lego Skywalker Saga is one of my most wanted titles for 2020. Its great that the game is running well on the Switch, but I'll be buying it for the Xbox because that's my Star Wars game machine.
@Heavyarms55 Hear hear, well said
@CaPPa Good man
@MidnightLaces OMG YES!! Someone else who can actually think for themselves and not swallow the crap the SJWs serve out. Well said
@Sun-WuGoku why thank you :3
@RiasGremory You’re right. Force Awakens was the good only one. Rise of Skywaker was ok but average and I feel the last jedi just sucked badly
